BONDS OF DESTINY

"Because..." I started off

"Because?"

"Because you are already carrying one burden in this lifetime and I won't make you carry another," I said and let go of his hands before I turned around walking into the living room. It was true, Argent was keeping something from me just as I was keeping something from him, but from this talk I knew it wasn't the same burden.

"Skye," I heard him walk slowly into the living room to me, his voice hesitant as he was feeling out my mood.

"It's okay, really," I assured and turned to look at him a sad smile in my features and pulled my hair over my shoulder before dropping down on one of the couches.

"We know a lot of things about each other, but at the same time we know nothing. I know barely anything about you except for your reputation."

"What do you wanna know?" He asked and sat down in the same couch though at the other end, his one arm slung over the headrest, his back towards the armrest. I turned in his direction bending one leg up under me to get a better view of him.

"Everything..."

"Everything, huh?" He grimaced and gave me a weak smile.

"Your first shift, the troubles you've gotten yourself into, how you were in school, your music taste, your favorite movie, your favorite sport, your favorite food... I do though already know how you prefer your coffee. Black just like your wolf form," I pointed out with a teasing smile and he laughed.

"Please don't tell me you were one of those Emo kids, because I really can't picture you like that," I laughed.

"So what do you picture me as?" He challenged and leaned forward on the couch.

"I have to guess?" I asked my smile growing wider.

"Hm, I think you broke a lot of hearts. But I don't think you were a bad-boy. Just a little more interested in pulling pranks and being with your friends instead of showing up at every party just to hook up if you weren't busy attending to pack business, which you were very proud of but also hated doing from time to time."

"Really?" A glint appeared in his eye, his smile turning lopsided, his trademarked wry smile on full display.

"And you weren't on the football team because you got a different kind of stamina," I spoke thoughtfully and slightly gestured to him, my bottom lip for a second getting caught between my teeth.

"Swim team perhaps or lacrosse?"

"Actually it was basketball," he responded with a smirk.

"Damn!" I said and hit my thigh though the humor was evident on my face.

"My first shift was when I was 9. I was playing around with Damian. We had somehow managed to get to the edge of our pack territory and into another's. I swear to you when their patrol showed up and scared the crap out of us and I turned in my angst to get home. Not one of my proudest moments." He said though he did not seem embarrassed.
