BONDS OF DESTINY
- XX -I felt Argent's hand on mine intertwining our fingers before he lifted my hand from my lap to place a light kiss on my knuckles.
"What's going on in that pretty head of yours?" he asked softly and glanced a me briefly before his eyes went back on the road.
We had been driving for around 2 hours and there had been barely any talk between us however it wasn't a awkward silence in the car, more a comforting silence, but still my mind was wandering. I was determined in telling Argent everything, but as I sat in the car driving towards a destination he had yet to reveal I came to think of what I actually did know. When it came down to it, did I actually know anything?
I shot him a weak smile deciding to dodge the question.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked instead and he just sent me a blinding smile.
"You'll see," he assured and a sigh escaped me causing him to pull on my hand and kiss it again.
"I promise you will love it," he added and I leaned deeper into my seat to get comfortable.
We hadn't taken his black convertible this time but instead of a simple yet gorgeous Mercedes. A smile cracked my lips as I recalled Argent telling me he did not want to ruin my hair by having it ruffled by the wind and I had let out a snort as I knew it probably was because he did not want to see it any close to resembling bed hair while he was driving.
"Skye?" Argent penetrated the silence again after a few minutes and I turned my gaze away from the landscape only to drown into his startling blue pools.
"Mmh?" I said as my voice faltered for a bit.
"At the breakfast table you got awfully quiet when Damian talked about the Rogues..." I shook my head and tore my gaze away from his to look out of the window again.
"Skye, don't shut me out," he objected quickly by my bland response causing me to continue my head shaking.
"I'm not shutting you out, Argent, but I can't talk to you about it here in the car. It's not..." I hesitated and pulled my hand, wriggling it out of Argent's grasp to fold my palms firmly together before settling them back in my lap.
"It's not exactly an easy conversation topic," I evaded and kept my gaze on everything but his side of the car and him.
"You know something?"
"Argent, please," I emphasized the please and noticed out of the corner of my eye how his brows furrowed suspiciously. Clearly he was bothered.
"Right," he gave me a small nod before he turned off the road.
"Lucas, just take me wherever you want us to go and we'll talk there," I objected when he halted the car.
"We are here," he said silently and killed the engine before he unbuckled his seatbelt and turned in his seat to get a proper view of me, making me squirm uncomfortably in the seat.
