BONDS OF DESTINY
- XXIX -

"Don't be ridiculous!" I objected and got up and away from him. I needed distance as that was absolutely the worst thing I had ever heard. How could he think he had stolen me from another? Wasn't our bond clue enough?

"Skye," he let out a long sigh and I crossed my arms turning away from him and looked out at the tall windows of the penthouse instead.

"That is absolutely atrocious!" I yelled. How dared he insinuate that he was not a man of honor?

"I can be selfish, arrogant and egotistical, Skye. You've told me that quite a few times yourself, and I am. I want what I want and I usually take it," he remarked as I heard him get up from the couch too.

"Do you listen to yourself?" I spun around only to get surprised of how close he had already gotten without me noticing and he took a retreating step backwards as if he was apologizing. That or he did not want to touch me as if I was tainted or something.

"The bond, Lucas. The bond should be answer enough. We both feel it. It feels right." I felt as if I could not stress that enough, especially since he hung his head by the statement.

"What if—" he started but shook his head, before running both his hands through his hair, his usual confident posture hunched as his shoulders slumped.

"What if that was done by Artemis? What if that was the curse?" He spoke slowly and my heart dropped to my stomach for a minute thinking over his words.

"No!" My wolf screamed in my head and I agreed with her. That theory was too wicked, too far-fetched there was no way in hell that could be true. It just did not sit well with me. It felt like some part of my heart was being ripped from my chest for having him doubting us - together.

Shaking my head I took a step towards only to see him take another step back in return.

"It's not the curse," I gritted out through my teeth and Argent refused to look at me. I kept walking towards him as he kept retreating only to be stopped by one of the couches. With another sigh he shook his head and turned away from me, steering towards the hall.

"Don't you dare!" I yelled after him as I bolted after him, grabbing his arm, making him flinch but only briefly as he collected himself yanking his arm from my grasp before he started walking again.

This time I grabbed a hold of his shoulder, only for him to grab my wrist and twist me around so he could shove me away, but I quickly dodged around him, twisting my arm so I could grab his wrist instead and bent his arm onto his back before I shoved him up against the wall.

"Don't you dare do that to yourself. Don't you dare to that to me. To us!" I screamed into his ear, as I felt angry tears press at my eyelids, as my insides were wreaking havoc.
