Once I had gotten of the plane, I was had gathered my three suitcases and tried to get them to the escalator. "Hey, you need help?" A guy asked me and I giggled. "That obvious?" I asked, pulling my hair behind my ears. "One girl, three bags. How did you get them onto the plane?" He asked, talking one of the suitcases. "Family" I simply answered. This was my one chance to be normal. People here didn't know that I was the daughter of two step-siblings. I was someone completely different and normal.
"American, aren't ya?" He said and I laughed "British, aren't ya?" I asked and he shook his head no. "Scottish actually" He said "But I live here in London" He said. "I'm going to live here too, for a while at least. Needed to get out of my hometown" I told him. "Well, you chose the perfect place" He said and I smiled, pulling the suitcases onto the escalator.
"So who's picking you up?" He asked curious. "Friends of the family, that I'm living with" I told him. "Well, a girl named Promise is gonna be happy" He said and I turned around "What?" "Is that you?" He asked surprised. "Yeah and that must be the friends of the family" I said and he looked at me. "No way" "Yes way" I said. "No, I mean that's the Lewis'! My girlfriends family" He said and I turned around to face him "Wow... London is smaller than I thought. Also, you know my name, but I don't know yours" I told him. "Jake" He introduced himself.
"JAKEY!!" A blond girl screamed and ran towards us. I pulled my suitcases aside just in time, because she jumped into his arms. As soon as he put her down, she turned to face me "And who are you?" She asked, removing her blond hair from her face. "Promise Copeland" I introduced myself to her "Jake kindly offered to help me, because I haven't grown third arm yet" "Let me help you with that" She said and took one of my suitcases. "Thanks" I said and the three of us went over to her family.
"Guys, I found Promise" She said and pointed at me. "Hey guys" I greeted them. "Don't take it personal, but you don't look like Will at all" Mr. Lewis said. "Not the first time I heard that. People tell me I look a lot like my grandpa" I told them. "They aren't wrong" Mrs. Lewis said. "Well, you met Poppy and this is our other daughter Phoebe" She introduced the second blonde. "I'm Phil" Mr. Lewis introduced himself "And I'm Paula" Mrs. Lewis introduced herself.
"Well, name wise she fits in perfectly" Jake said and I rolled my eyes. "Aren't you tired Promise?" Phil asked and I nod "A little. I barely slept on the plane" I told him. "Then let's go home" He said and took both suitcases from me.
Not 30 minutes later we were at the Lewis house. "I hope it's okay for you, that you have to share a room with Poppy and Phoebe" Paula said and I nod "Totally, I'm planning on being outside most of the time anyways and I'll be home for sleeping, so..." I said. "Okay, then. I'll let you settle in" She said and left the room. "Need help?" Phoebe asked and I nod "That would be great" I told her and she helped me unpack and then to get my bed ready. "So, why did you want to come to England?" She asked, sitting down on her bed. "Needed a change and to get out of my small hometown" I explained, dropping onto my bed.
"You have a boyfriend?" She asked to make conversation. She had no idea, that this wasn't really a topic I wanted to talk about. "Broken up since Christmas" I told her "You?" "No, sadly not" She said and I looked at her "But something tells me that there is someone you like" I said and she blushed "You'll meet him on Monday when school starts" She said and I looked over to the one closet. "Is that-?" I started, got up and looked at the clothing I saw "Is that a school uniform?" I asked her and she nod. "Oh come on" I said and put it down. "My parents have yours" She said and I let myself fall onto my bed. "You don't have uniforms in America, do you?" She asked and I sighed "Not at Jefferson High"
"Are you ready for school?" She asked and I sat up. "Not really, but I got you and Poppy there with me, I hope" I said and she laughed. "I'll be there and my sister's best friend will be there too. Hanna, you will love her" Phoebe said. "I think it will be overwhelming, I mean meeting new people. I have the same best friends since I was a kid and I don't have one friend I'm not related to" I told her and it was the truth.
"Well, now you do!" Phoebe said and got up "Want to get out of here? I could show you around" She suggested and I agreed. We got dressed and went outside and to a park close by. "We hang out here a lot, so it's possible we run into Poppy and Jake" She said as we walked towards the basketball court. "You play?" I asked and she nod "Sometimes" She said and walked onto the court, where two guys were already playing. "That's Jonah over there. In the blue shirt" She said and I looked at her "That guy?" I asked her with a smile and she agreed. "He's cute" I said and she looked at me "But off limits, I know" I told her and by now the guys had noticed us. "PHOEBE" Jonah yelled and she walked towards them, followed by me. "Hey" She said and smiled at Jonah, who was smiling at her as well.
I giggled on the inside. I could tell that they were so into each other. "Who's your friend?" Jonah asked. "Promise, staying with her family for a few months" I introduced myself. "Copeland" A familiar voice said and the other guy turned around. My eyes widen once I saw him. "Are you stalking me?!" I asked upset. "No, you are the one stalking me!" He answered.
