A few weeks had passed and I was still talking to David and even visit him on weekends. Of course I didn't tell my parents that. They would freak if they knew I was dating a 25 year old, that thought I was 21. I couldn't tell him the truth about who I was. In the end he had heard my real name in the adoption progress and I couldn't risk it. Only Evie knew about David and I hoped it would stay this way. It was way less complicated when only a few people knew. Besides I had promised Keeley to stay single.
So here I was, sitting in class with Miriam, Chemistry, noticing the guy she has been eyeing for the past 15 minutes. "You know, you could just talk to him" I said to her. "I can't, he's with Jesse" She said. "Jesse isn't that scary" I told her. "Maybe not for you" She said and looked back at the guy. I think his name was Zac. "Then I'll go talk to him for you" I said and got up. "No, you won't!" She said and ran after me.
"Hey guys" I said as I reached their table. "Promise" Jesse said, not paying much attention to me. I had to say it kinda hurt that he didn't talk to me like he usually did. "Jesse" I said and looked at Zac. "It's Zac, right?" I asked him and he nod, not taking his eyes of his project. "Well, I'm Promise and this is my cousin Miriam" I said, pointing onto the girl next to me, who had an completely changed appearence.
She used to be this bubbly girl, but now she was looking more gothic. She was dressed in black with a chocker around her neck. She wore dark make up around her eyes and there was a pink streak in her hair in her chest long brown hair.

"Nice meeting you" Miriam said and that's when he first looked up. His eyes stayed on Miriam, like he didn't want to take them of her again. "I just had an great idea, why don't you two become lab partners?" I asked, ignoring the fact that I would be stuck with Jesse then, but I didn't care. I wanted to make things up with my cousin and I hoped getting her closer to Zac was the way to do it.
"I mean, you are pretty good in Chem and I'm sure Miriam is way better than Jesse" I said. "Then why do you wanna switch?" He asked confused. "Because I won't be able to learn anything when Miriam does everything" I lied. I couldn't care less about chemistry. "If it's fine by her" Zac said and looked at Miri. "Totally" She said, trying to keep her cool.
We ran our plan pass Randall and he thought it was a good idea, so I ended up being partners with Jesse. "Why did you do that? I was happy not to be too close to you! Do you know how hard it is to love someone, who keeps playing you?!" He asked. "I'm sorry, I just wanted to do a nice thing for Miriam" I told him. "Why do you keep playing with me?" He asked and I gulped. I didn't know how to answer that question. "You confuse me and right now, confusion is the last thing I need. I'm sorry for being like this towards you, but I'm thinking you want something serious and that's exactly what I can't give you at the moment" I sighed. It was hard to let him down again. "Can we please go back to being friends and I'll tell you once I'm ready to commit?" I asked and now he was the one that sighed.
"Fine. I guess that's as good as it gets" He said. "Why don't you go out with Lennon in the meantime?" I joked. "Then I would rather stay single for the rest of my life. She is horrible. I know, I was horrible as well, but I changed and you forgave me. Lennon will never change" He said and I smiled "You got that one right. Although I think Cindra would change, if she would be seperated from Lennon" I said.
"Like that is ever gonna happen. It's like they sisters" He said and I looked at him "Can you keep a secret?" I asked and he nod. I took a pen and wrote onto his notebook They are, then looked back at him. He read it and refused to believe it. He laughed, but once he looked into my serious face, he believed me.
"Swear" He said and I nod "I swear, but they don't know and it has to stay this way" I told him and he nod again. I hope it was the right decision to trust him with a secret this big.
After Chemistry was done, we had special class. It was something like a project week, just it was once a week for 90 minutes. We were all teamed up and this years topic was love. Great... My partner was even worse.
"Have you ever been in love?" Cindra asked, reading the questions of a sheet. "I have been. You?" I asked and she looked at me like she was going to kill me, but since that didn't intimated me, she stopped pretty fast "I can trust you right?" She asked and I nod "I'm not the kind of girl to tell everyone's secrets. I have too many on my own" I said and she sighed "No, I have never been in love and Lennon would bully me for that" She said. "Why would she do that?" I asked her. "Because she has been in love with Jesse since forever"
"Next question" I said to change the topic. "How many relationships did you have?" Cindra asked the next question. "Is that question seriously on that sheet?" I asked, taking it from her. It was standing right there and I rolled my eyes, before giving it back to her. "Let me think for a second" I said and counted the guys in my head. Lars, one, Jake, two, Alex, three, David, four. I guess Alden counts too, that would make five and if Alden counts, then Jesse counts as well. Six.
"Wait, what kind of relationships? Like official relationships or knowing that the guy you like likes you back and you hang out?" I asked. "You're surprising me Copeland" She said. "Cindra, please an answer" "I'm guessing the official once" She said. "Okay then the number is four" I said. "Mine is six" She said and I looked at her. "Oh, don't judge me! You know how it is with Lennon. She would have-" "-bullied you if you wouldn't have dated any guys" I said and she nod. "You learn quick Promise" She said and laughed. I couldn't help but to laugh with her.
I was right all along! Cindra was actually pretty nice when Lennon wasn't around and I knew she wasn't faking it, because she wasn't that good of an actress!
