(58) Adventures in Babysitting

A month later Jesse and I were back in Morrison Creek and promised Uncle Thomas and Aunt Abby to watch Tessa for them. Tessa was their little daughter and the youngest Copeland-Harding kid.

"Got everything?" Abby asked me and I continued nodding like my head was broken or something like that. "Are you even listening to me?!" Abby asked and I groaned. "Abby! It's not my first time babysitting! I know everything there is to know about little Tess" I told her and she sighed "I know, bu I get worried so fast. You know me" She said and I put my hand on her shoulder "I'm saying this because I love you and you are family. Leave!"

"Okay fine! No making out in front of her. Let's just say no making out at all" She added. "Uncle Thomas.." I whined. "Let's go Abby" He said and pulled his wife with him. I thanked him in my mind. I took Tessa's hand and took her inside with me.

"Is this your boyfriend? " Tessa asked, pointing at Jesse. "Yes, that's my boyfriend" I told her as we walked over to him "So Tessi, what do you wanna do?" Jesse asked. "I don't know" She said and sat down. "How about a board game?" I asked and looked through the stuff Thomas and Abby had. I partly couldn't even pronouce the names "Forget about that" I said and sat down beside Jesse on the couch.

"What happened to the games?" He asked. "If you can find one you can pronounce, we'll play it" I told him, but he shook his head no "What about the park?" He suggested and Tessa loved the idea. So we ended up taking the little dirty blonde girl to the park. Somehow we ended up at the basketball court we always hang out. "I wanna go to the playground!" Tessa said. "Okay then" I said and we let her walk ahead, while we followed her holding hands.

"You know what I'm regretting right now?" I asked him. "What?" He asked. "Not taking Lindy or Puck with us today. The dog park would be the perfect place to tire out Puck and Tessa" I said. "Can't you just call one of your sister's to bring them?" He asked. "Are you talking about Ronnie, who's getting her hair dyed as we speak or Evie, who is packing and unpacking, just to pack again for college?" I asked him. "Or Cindy, who doesn't even know she's my sister yet? Or Lennon, who would rather kill me, than to bring my dogs to me" I said and he rolled his eyes "A simple no would have been enough"

"But we aren't simple and you know that" I told him and he rolled his eyes. "How about you go and get the dogs?" I asked him and he laughed "Yeah right. And then I'll dress up like ballerina and dance through the park" He said and I laughed "I'd love to see that!"

"Just call your brother and make him bring the dogs here!" Jesse said a little annoyed by now. "Fine, I'll call Cale" I said and looked for his contacts in my phone. "Baby brother" I said enthusiastic. "What do you want Promise?"He asked. "Can you bring Lindy and Puck to the dog park?" "Aren't you babysitting Tessa?" He asked confused. "We want to make her tired, we might as well make Puck tired as well" I told him. "Fine, I'll come by" He said and hung up.

"He's coming" I told Jesse and just as promised he arrived 15 minutes later with the two dogs. I thanked him about two or three times, then entered the dog park with Lindy and Puck, while Jesse took Tessa.

Inside I took the leash off the dogs and let them run and handed a ball to Tessa. "You know what to do with that?" I asked. "Throw it" She said and did as told. Puck immediately noticed the flying ball and ran after it. He caught it a short time later and brought it back to us. "Good boy" I said and Tessa threw it again. "So, kids and dogs?" Jesse asked and I looked at him "Of course. I love kids and I love dogs" I told him and smiled.

"Do you want a dog like Puck or like Lindy?" He asked. "I'm not sure. Besides, you wouldn't know what kind of dog you are getting, when you are adopting him. You would be seeing it once they get older. I mean, we didn't know that Puck and Lindy are going to be so different, but we are kind of happy they are" I told him.

"Puck's not bringing the ball back" Tessa whined. "PUCK" I yelled and whistled until he finally ran over. He was barking, while still holding the ball in between his teeth. It looked kind of funny and definitely sounded the same.

A few hours later we decided it was time to get home and collected the dogs and Tessa. Jesse ended up carrying the little girl, since she was tired. I was holding the dogs on the leash while walking back to Thomas and Abby's house.

As soon as we arrived there, I unleashed the dogs. They immediately went to lay down somewhere and probably went to sleep. Jesse and I walked upstairs to Tessa's room and I helped him put her down to sleep. It didn't take us long, since she was already drifting off to sleep while Jesse was carrying her.

After we were done, we sat down on the couch in the living room downstairs. "Are you sure you want kids?" He asked and I had to fight with myself not to tell him that I already had one. "I'm sure I want kids and they would be cute if they are half-british" "Then why don't you have them with Jake?" He asked. "Because Jake is Scottish and probably dating Hanna and he's my ex. Are you seriously trying to get me back together with my ex?!" I asked and he shook his head no "Nah, was just testing you" He said.

"Idiot" I said and laid my head down on his chest "I hate you" "I hate you too"

I originally had two big storylines for I Promise You, but I decided not to do them, because I want to get this book to an end to start on the last one. That's why I decided to make those two stories into an extra book each.
