"Hey Miri, long time no see" I said as I entered her bedroom. Mom was hanging out with her best friend Maia also known as Miriam's mom. "Hey, well you have been busy" She said, not really paying attention to me. "How are you?" I asked her to keep the awkward conversation going. "I have been better" She answered, not taking a break from reading. "Everything alright with Zac?" I asked her. "Yes, everything is alright with Zac. Why wouldn't it be?" She asked and looked up "Listen, some problems don't have anything to do with boys. I know it's hard to understand for you" She said and I thought I misunderstood her "Excuse me!?"
"You heard me! Alex, Peyton, Jesse. Just to name a few" She said. "That's all sorted out!" I defended myself. "Yeah, but still you had the problem. It was nice of you to switch Chemistry partners, but that doesn't fix things between us. Jaden sees it the same way" She said and I was confused "You're talking to Jaden?" "She's my best friend, ever since you were busy with Evie, Ronnie and your cool people gang" She said. "I had no idea you felt that way" I said and sat down. "Well, I'm over it!" She said and I had to admit I felt bad. "Miriam, why didn't you say anything?" I asked her."When? When you were in England? Or hanging out with Evie and Ronnie? Or with one of your boyfriends?" She asked. I could hear in her voice how upset she was about me. "I had no idea Miriam! I'm sorry I wasn't there for you!" I apologized. "Sorry doesn't cut it! I needed you! You weren't there and you didn't even tell me yourself. I had to find out from my dad! Do you know how much that hurt?!" She asked, more angry than upset. "I promise to be here for you from now on!" I said, but she refused to listen to me. "Would you just get out? I need to study" She said and I sighed, but left her room.
I walked downstairs to the living room, where mom and Maia were in a conversation "Hey, I'm gonna head out. Miriam wants to study" I said and they nod. I left the house and called Jesse to pick me up. After he did, he drove to the park and parked in the parking lot. "What's wrong?" He asked, looking over to me. "Miriam. She is mad at me. I haven't been the best cousin and friend to her. We used to be best friends, but then I grew closer to Evie and Ronnie again and kinda forgot about her" I told him. "Well, the twins are your sisters" He said. "Yeah, but my mom and her mom are besties since High School. Reason why we were besties" I explained.
"Didn't Monica and your mom become besties in college as well?" He asked and I nod "Yeah, they did. But... I don't know.. I think Maia and mom hoped for Miri and to be best friends till the end. That didn't work out. Now Miriam is besties with Jaden, my other cousin. Uncle Cody's daughter" I explained "Who used to be my best friend as well"
"Things change Promise. If you want to or not. Let's say your feelings wouldn't have changed. We wouldn't be together now" He said and I sighed "Yeah, but friends should come before boyfriends/girlfriends" I said and looked into his eyes. "If I would listened to the bro code, I wouldn't be with you right now. It was Lars, who dated you first. Lars was my friend before I fell for you" He said. "Would you please stop bringing up the fact that I dated Lars?" I asked him a little annoyed. Everyone kept reminding us, not getting how awkward that was for us. We hated it! But no one seems to be able to forget about it.
"Sorry. But still, you dated Jake. You really loved him and I was friends with him before you fell for him and I fell for you" He said to make his point less awkward. "But I didn't know. Also he didn't know that you know me and have been crushing on me" I said. "Let's just say, if we all would have listened to the bro code, you would have some exes less. You would have one or two exes" He said. "But that's a complete different code" I said. "Not exactly. If I would have cared about my friends more and the other way around, no one would have dared to date you, except number one" "JESSE!" I said upset, since he brought up Lars again.
"My point is, you need to find a balance. I have time for you and for my friends, well the ones that are still talking to me. Everyone except Peyton. You have to do the same thing" He said. "And am I supposed to do that? Miriam and Jaden aren't part of my group or our group" I reminded him. "You brought Logan into it, same with Keeley. Why not the two of them?" He asked and I sighed "Because they hate you"
"Then I have to prove them wrong!" He said, convinced he was able to do it. I wasn't that convinced about it. "It's worth a try" He said "I really want to help you. Let them bring their boyfriends, if it makes it easier for them" He said. "I don't know if Jaden has one. I only know about Miriam and Zac, because I set them up" I said. "I know, I was there" He reminded me. "Is it a plan or what?" He asked and I nod "And I have just the right thing for a group bonding. Just have to convince the other's that it's a great idea, which will be the hardest for Ronnie and Cole" I said. "What's the plan?" He asked curious. "Not telling you! You have a big mouth!" I said and laid back in the car seat.
