It has been two days since Jesse has been arrested and since my grandpa talked to my parents, they forbid me to see him. I knew he was innocent!
But here I was, at my grandparents house, eating dinner together with Andy and Drew and their two daughter Emilia and Grace. I wasn't really eating though. I played with the fork in my food. "What's wrong Promise?" Grandma asked. "I don't know! But maybe it has something to do with your huband arresting my boyfriend, although he's innocent!" I almost yelled. "Promise!" My mom said, hoping it would calm me down, but it didn't. It got me even more in rage. "No! Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and as far as I know no evidence has been found, except that bitch that said she saw him!" I said and got up.
"Promise, sit down!" Mom said strict. "No!!" I yelled "I'm not staying here!" I said and left the house. I directly went to Jesse's house. I wanted to tell him that I was there for him and that I believed him.
"Promise, you know he's grounded" Mrs. Ashcroft said. "I know, I just want to tel him that I'm not going anywhere" I said. "Fine, five minutes" She said and left me through. I thanked her with a nod, then went upstairs and entered his bedroom. He was sitting on the chair at his desk and looked up when I opened the door "Promise!" He said, jumped up and hugged me. "You need to believe me, I didn't do it! I never broke into your grandparents house! The ony time I was there, was when you spent the night there two days ago! You know I wouldn't lie to you! You need to believe me!" He said and I looked up.
"That's it!- I do believe you!- Someone must have seen how you climbed up the window into my mom's old room!" I said and put my hands onto his shoulders "I have to talk to my grandpa! I'll call you!" I said and rushed off. "I don't have a phone!" He yelled after me. "Then I'll call your house!" I yelled and ran the way back to my grandparents house.
"When was the break in!?" I asked. "Promise" Grandma started. "Just tell me the freaking day!" I told them upset and excited. "When you and Emilia slept over" Grandpa said and I literally jumped when he said that. "Jesse was here, but he was with me! The entire night! He was already asleep when I fell asleep and we were in the exact same position the next morning! He couldn't have done it!" I told him. "But the neighbors saw him climb up the house to an open window!"
"Yeah, mom's old room window, where I was sleeping! He climbed up there to spend the night with me! He didn't do it and I can prove it! I took photos of him sleeping and they have a time code and you all know I'm not smart enough to fake it!" I said. "Can I see them?" He asked. I nod and took out my phone and opened the photo's. Each and everyone had a the date and time on it. "He didn't do it!" I said again. "But if he didn't do it and we didn't do it and Emilia didn't do it, who was it?" He asked and I looked at Emilia, who seemed a little shaky.
"What makes you so sure?" I asked, keeping an eye on Emilia. Once she was shaking, she jumped up "I'm gonna use the bathroom" She said and wanted to walk off and upstairs, but I got in her way. "It wasn't Jesse. I can prove that. It wasn't me. Jesse can prove that. It wasn't grandma. Grandpa can prove that. It wasn't grandpa. Grandma can prove that. The only person inside the house, that was sleeping alone was you. I know from Jesse, that it wasn't messy, so the thief had to know where the jewelry is. I never told him. Why should I? You on the other hand, you had a free path. I just don't get why you would do it!" I said and hoped she would break under the pressure.
"I didn't do it!" She said. "Liar!" I said loudly. "Promise, stop it!" My mom said, but I didn't even think about stopping to interrogate my cousin. I had to prove my boyfriend was innocent.
"This is ridiculous! Why would I do something like that!?" Emilia asked, hoping it would make her sound innocent. It did the complete opposite. "Wait a second! Is that the reason you wanted me to stay over at Breena's?" Grace asked. "What? I didn't want that!" Emilia said, still trying to defend herself. "Right! You insisted I stay over at her's!" Grace said. Apparently she was believing me and not her older sister. "Only question is why! Why did you pin this on Jesse!?" I yelled at her. "Because of you!" She yelled. She finally cracked. "Me?! What do I have to do with that?!" I asked her confused and angry.
"I love him! I have been in love with him since years, but you.. You pushed him away, dated one guy after another! You didn't want him! Now you suddenly change your mind and still get him! After everything you have done to him!" She said, tears coming out of her eyes. "And why did you want my boyfriend to be punished for something like that?! Something he didn't do?!" I asked her upset.
"Because if I can't have him, you can't have him either! I knew they would forbid you to see him when he got criminal. It was the only way to break you two apart!" She said and I couldn't believe the words she was saying. "Do you get how sick you sound?!" I asked her and turned to my grandpa "You need to set this straight!" I told him. "Already on it!" He said.
Here I was. Anxiously waiting in front of the police station. Then finally the waiting was over and Jesse walked out the door, followed by his parents. As soon as he saw me, he hurried down the stairs and wrapped his arms around me "Thank you" He said and kissed my forehead. "Will you stop making trouble now?" I asked and he groaned "I'll try" He said, but that was good enough for me. I was just happy that he didn't have a record, while Emilia was in trouble for making false accusation.
