"Clare!" Lars warned me "Cut it out!" "I'm not the bully here, it's him!" I defended myself "I'm gonna get to class, see you later?" I asked Lars and nod. I briefly kissed him on the cheek and rushed off to my next class, which was Music with Mr. Ydris.
My cousin Jaden was already waiting in front of the door. What I didn't really understand was why she had blond hair. She must have gotten that from the Cavanaugh side of the family, since all of my family is brunette. Same with my brother. The blue eyes I can explain, my dad has them, but the blond hair. No clue. Maybe my deceased grandma was blond. I have never seen a picture of her, so I wasn't sure.
"Clary, you're early to class for a change" She said. "Needed to get away from Jesse" I told her. "What were you doing with Jesse Ashcroft?!" Jaden asked shocked. "I'm kinda dating one of his friends" I told her and she nod like she was progressing everything.
"Are you crazy?! They are bad news!" She said maybe a little too loud, hitting my shoulder softly. "Ouch! Jay, no need to hit me!" I dramatist everything a little. "Come on! That wasn't even hard. You won't even get a bruise from that!" She said and I slowly started laughing.
"Help me, my cousin is an idiot!" Jaden whined, while I couldn't stop laughing. "Something we agree on" Jesse said while walking passed us. "Where the hell did you come from now?!" I yelled after him "See what I mean?" I asked Jaden and she couldn't believe it either "Jerkface!" She said and I looked at her and raised an eyebrow "Jerkface? That's the best you could come up with?!" "Hey, I'm not the daughter of Ryder Harding, former bad boy and Olivia Harding, only girl with 9 brothers" She said. "8 brothers plus a boyfriend" I corrected her.
"Right. Sorry" Jaden apologized. Well, I could kind of understand her. My mom is known in entire Morrison Creek. She's the girl that married her step-brother. The teen mom and the girl with 9 brothers.
My parents have quiet the reputations. My dad used to be a player until he fall for my mom and my mom, you already know.
Inside the classroom, Jaden and I took our seats next to each other and waited until the rest entered.
"Music, my passion" Mr. Ydris started. Have I mentioned this is our first class having him?
"Let's take a look at my new talents" He said and looked down into the list. "Jaden Copeland" He said and Jaden raised her hand "Present"
"Copeland? One of my best writers is a Copeland. Are you Olivia's daughter?" He asked and she shook her head and pointed at me. You could say that his face expression disappeared. Well, I was sitting in the chair like on the couch at home and had my feet on an empty chair in front of me and raised my hand briefly to say hello.
"Promise Clarissa Copeland" He read and looked up "I'm guessing that this is you" He said, looking into my direction. I smirked "You bet I am" I told him and you could see how desperate he become. I just laughed. "How come Olivia Copeland has a daughter that is so opposite of her?" He asked and probably didn't want to hear an answer, but I gave it to him anyways "She married Ryder Harding, yet I was born when she was 17, so..." I said and he had that look, like my answer explained everything.
"Keeley Fitzgerald" He continued, ignoring the fact that I was the daughter of his most promising student, but also the daughter of his probably worst student. I got the best of both worlds.
A red head raised her hand "Present" She said and I could literally hear from her voice that she was smiling. I have heard about that girl. Everyone calls her Little Miss Sunshine.
"Lennon Germaine" He went on and the blonde brown eyed devil raised her hand "Present" She said and I had the urge to punch her in the face, like every other time she spoke up.
He finished the list and looked up again. "Okay, then let's get started. Partner up" He said and made a short break "Or I will partner you up" He said after he realized that we would partner up with a friend or cousin.
By now it was down to two guys and me, Jaden, Keeley and Lennon.
He chose Jaden to work with Justin and Keeley with Alfie, leaving me with
LENNON
"I can't work with her!" I immediately yelled. "You will have to" Mr. Ydris said. "But-" I started, but was interrupted by the teacher of the year. "No buts!" He said strict "Sit" He added.
Just now I noticed that I have gotten up from my seat and sat back down, crossing my arms, behaving like a toddler.
"Don't be so childish, Prom!" Jade told me to calm me down and keep me out of trouble. "It's Clary!" I told her for the one millionth time. "Copeland!" Ydris warned "Never thought I would say that" He said. "What do you want to do? Give me detention? Randall already took care of that!" I told him. "If my parents would have been married at the time of my birth, I guess nothing would have changed" I said, not knowing why.
"Harding!" He warned me. "It's Copeland, but okay! Guess you can't change your habits" I corrected him. "I'm sorry, Miss Copeland" He apologized. "No, call me Harding. So you won't mix up my cousin and I" I suggested. After all my entire family has the name Harding. I'm a Copeland because I was born out of wedlock, unlike my brother, who was born just a few weeks after their wedding.
By now the partners got together and we had to get started on the project, which was to write a song, what else?
My mom had shown me her song for this exact same assignment. She really knows her words and how to play with them. Also my father was good with words, even if you wouldn't suspect that. All I could hope for, was that I inherited their talent.
"Topic?" I asked Lennon, but she didn't really pay attention. "LENNON!" I yelled and the entire class plus her were looking at me. "What!?" She asked annoyed. "Topic!" I repeated myself. "Boys!" She immediately said and I groaned. "How about a song not about boys? Is that possible?" I asked her.
I might be crushing on someone, but that doesn't mean I live in Unicornland, where the sky is pink and the trees are red hearts. I was still a normal human being. "How about a song about starting over or doing what you want or friendship, okay forget about that! Standing up to a guy who thinks he's the king. Something like that" I tried to give her some ideas and change your mind.
Yeah, that didn't work! She still wanted to stay with that exact topic.
"Unbelievable!"
Hey guys, hell is only one word to describe the place I'm at.
Guess
You are correct, I'm in school and we have an assignment and I'm stuck with the mean girl! I hate her and she hates me! There is absolutely nothing that could change our relationship to the better! Nothing! All she thinks about are boys and I'm sick of it! I don't know how I can work with her, so something good will be the result! Impossible!
I'm sorry to put this out on you and to annoy you with that or maybe you can relate to that. Let me know if you want to. Until next time
XOXO Fray
