When Gavin and I landed in England, he had called a cab. I leaned my head on his shoulder, clutching onto his arm, sleepily. I yawned and closed my eyes momentarily, Gavin kissed my head.
"Love." He whispered, I jumped and looked up at him with tired eyes. He chuckled, "Cab's here, let's get you to a bed." He kissed my forehead and opened the door for me. I smiled and crawled in as our cab driver and Gavin put our luggage in the trunk. He got in and I rested my head in his lap. "Get some rest, doll. We've got a long ride ahead of us." He smiled down at me, I nodded and shut my eyes, falling asleep almost instantly.
Gavin's POV
I sat in the back of the cab, playing with Gabi's hair as she snored softly in my lap. I watched her sides rise and fall. It was just becoming morning in Texas, and it was about midnight for us. I paid the cab driver and got my keys out, I got my bags out before grabbing Gabi by the waist, and pulling her outside of the cab.
"Love, wake up. We're here at my parents." I mumbled into her ear. She groaned as I stood her up. She gained her balance and looked up at me, with tiredness growing in her eyes. I chuckled as she moaned and groaned. "Let me get the bags inside, and we can get you in bed." I smiled, kissing her cheek. She stood behind me as I unlocked the door to my parents house.
I set the bags inside quickly, and grabbed her hand. She intertwined our fingers together as I dragged her along to my old bedroom. I turned on the light and she smiled widely. She looked at me and wrapped her arms around my waist loosely. She rested her head on my chest, closing her eyes. I chuckled, as I waddled to my bed, laying down on my back so she could lay on top of me.
I would just have to get our bags in the morning. I'm glad I decided to wear comfortable trousers on our flight, because I'd be dying if I had a pair of jeans on. I played with her hair until I began to grow tired. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
6 hours later
I'd woken up from Gabi, tossing around in bed, seeming to be having a nightmare. I frowned, knowing what was happening. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her to me tightly and burying my face in her neck, taking in her smell. I smiled and planted a kiss on her bare shoulder, exposed from her shirt, draping off it.
Her fits slowly began to decrease as I breathed, soon enough her breathing soon matched mine. I smiled softly, pulling away to get up and greet my parents. I'd noticed our bags were in my room. George or my dad, probably did that.
I got up, tousling my hair about and walked downstairs.
"Gavvy's home!" My mother shouted, running over to me with open arms. I smiled widely, hugging my mom. I heard my brother's feed pad against the hardwood floor and he smiled widely at me, causing me to smile back.
"What's up lil bro." I said, pulling away from my mother to hug George.
"You look good." George remarked, talking about my unruly beard.
"Oh sod off!" I laughed, punched my not so little brother in the arm.
"So where's the bird?" My dad asked, walking into the kitchen to see me.
"She's asleep right now, she probably will be for quite some time. She's a nightmare to wake up." I chuckled, watching my family. I loved being back here, I felt like I was in my element, as cliche and stupid as that sounds.
"I've made a cup of tea for you, and there's about a plate left of food for you and her." My mother suggested, looking at me pleadingly. She was the most excited to meet Gabi, her and George had heard about her from the moment I saw her walk in with Geoff. I'd honestly had thought Geoff hired a new intern but soon remembered that Geoff had an adopted sister.
"I've told you she's a vegan right?" I asked, furrowing my brows, trying to remember if I had or not.
"Oh, Hon! You should have told me that earlier!" My mother cried out, picking up the plate of eggs.
"Oh, Mum! Don't do that I'll eat those." I whined, grabbing the plate from her hands. She looked up at me and nodded. I kissed the top of her head and sat down at the table, facing the stairs. I began eating when a small figure, in one of my jumpers, started walking down the stairs. Her legs looked smooth and soft, and her small figure was hidden beneath my large jumper. Her long ginger hair, pulling into a messy bun atop her hair. I smiled widely at her as she stood at the end of the staircase, leaning against the wall.
"You're Geoff's sister??" George blurted out. She giggled and nodded.
"You look nothing like him!" My mom chuckles.
"Hasn't Gavin told you I'm adopted?" She giggled, walking over to me, and sat down in the chair next to me.
"I thought I did, but my family is a little thick headed." I smiled, kissing her temple. She smiled back at me. "Morning, by the way." She nodded. My mum asked her what she wanted to eat and Gabi passed up her offer but my mum refused to not serve her. Once Gabi and my mum decided on something, my family sat around the table.
"So, did you ever get to go to a Uni?" George asked her, while scarfing down his food.
"Uhm," she chewed on her lip, fiddling with her fork. "I never actually got into the university I wanted." She shrugged, I knew she was lying, but I didn't want to force anything on her. "But, I'm a self taught artist, and I do animation for Rooster Teeth." She grinned, but soon it faded away. Ever since Monty's passing, she felt as if we were trying to fill our emptiness with her filling Monty's place in, and I felt like that's what the animation club was doing. And it scared her. "Did you guys ever get to meet Monty?" She asked, looking between my family. My father and mother nodded. George was out of town when the company came to England for a con.
"He's the short asian one, right?" My dad asked. Gabi and I chuckled when my mum reached around and smacked my dad on the head. "Hey!" My dad laughed.
"Yes. He passed away earlier this year, it really took a toll on the company. He was my mentor and taught me everything I know now about animation." Gabi had a faint smile, it was sad, but I knew it was genuine. My mom set her hand on Gabi's and I watched Gabi flinch slightly. I sighed and saw as she relaxed.
"I'm very sorry for your guys' loss. He was a talented man." My mum spoke.
"It's okay. He lives on in the company." I spoke, letting Gabi have her moment mourning over her friend. After we had gotten over that subject, my mum and dad started talking about trips when George and I were younger, and how George was always the bigger, taller one and would beat me up, despite me being older. Gabi found amusement in those stories. I'd wished Gabi and Geoff's parent had stories about them when they were younger, but Geoff didn't grow up with her much. In fact, Gabi hardly grew up with Geoff. We'd spent all day together at my parents, chatting up a storm, laughing and having a great time. I needed this with her and my parents.
