It had been almost a whole month of me living on my own. It was quiet lonely sometimes but I enjoyed the silence. Gavin would come over occasionally and spend the night, he was about the only company I had over, unless Mica or Barbara were visiting.
I still hadn't told the animation crew that I moved, I was waiting when we weren't so fucking booked. Other than Gav always keeping me company outside of work, Blaine, Aaron, Barbara, myself and Jordan were almost inseparable. Miles would get upset with us, and would get annoyed that Barbara wasn't doing her job and would kick her out of our office, but soon after Barb left, Chris would join.
I wanted to throw a little party really bad, but I know it could get out of hand quickly. I sat at my desk, fiddling w my pencil and staring at Miles' sketch book. It's been almost a year since I started working here and I could never find time to get a new sketchbook. I spent a majority of my time outside of work, drawing shit for Miles since I had his sketchbook. Maybe I should just buy him a new one. Maybe that's what I'll do when I get paid again.
"Hey, Gabs!" I heard Jordan whisper at me. I jumped and looked up at him, I giggled at him and sat up. Miles wasn't in the room, but everyone else is. "You got anything going on tonight? We wanna go to a bar and get a couple drinks. It's too tense here."
"I have a better idea, let's come to my place!" I smiled, watching as Blaine, Aaron, and Chris all listened.
"Don't you live with Geoff still?" Aaron asked. I shook my head and smiled.
"I got my own place like last month, I haven't had a chance to tell you guys because of how slammed we've been." I said, glancing around at them. "I'll send you all the address, and yes Aaron, you can bring Barb." I giggled, watching his smile grow. I got on my phone and made a group chat between Gav, Elyse, Barb, Aaron, Chris, Jordan, Blaine, Adam and Peake, along with others and sent them party invites. My phone immediately blew up with the animation crew sending emojis.
"Guys fuck off!" I laughed out loud and they all jokingly mocked me. "You guys are uninvited." I chuckled. They all whined as I grabbed the sketch book, and put my things in my bag. I grabbed my keys off my desk and walked out to the annex. I set my stuff down on the table backstage, and flopped on the couch, waiting for Burnie and Gus to arrive.
They always loved having me for the podcast, I think I'd been in every single one of them since I got here. I grabbed my phone out of my back pocket and scrolled through Twitter. I put my phone down and grabbed the sketch book again, along with a pencil I found on the floor. I hadn't actually put any heart into my drawings since I got here, I let work take over the thing I loved most. Sure I loved drawing, especially designing characters and shit for Miles, but I never had the chance to draw what I wanted to draw.
I sighed and sat on the floor, scooting close to the table and setting it down. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, I opened my eyes again and began drawing. I didn't quiet know what I was drawing, I was letting my hands do all the work. I didn't have anything planned for this. I probably had been sitting there for hours because I realized that it was time the company closed down, I grabbed my keys again and sprinted towards my car. In the group chat, I told everyone its a byob party because I forgot to go out and buy some beers.
As soon as I had gotten home, I rushed into my apartment and started making some food. I didn't all know who was coming so I made enough food in a short amount of time, for about 12-15 people. I ran into my room and changed into a mustard yellow sweater, and I pulled on black jeans, that hugged my waist a little too tight. I cleaned up my apartment a bit and decided to put on some music. I didn't quiet know what everyone liked so I put on a random radio station.
I grabbed one of my books and walked outside to my balcony, I kept the door open in case someone showed up early. As soon as I had sat down, there was a knock at my door. I whined softly and walked to the door. I opened it and was greeted with Gavin, Barbara and Aaron.
"HI!!!! WE BROUGHT YOU GIFTS!" Barbara said, excitedly, throwing her arms around me tightly. I smiled and hugged back.
"You didn't have to!" I said, pulling away and smiling at the bunch. "You guys are a bit early." I nodded, looking at the clock.
"Babs didn't wanna miss a single thing." Aaron laughed, Barbara nodded her head enthusiastically as I giggled. Gavin had been here loads of times but why hasn't he said a word yet?
"Where can I set this?" Barbara interrupted my thoughts.
"Wha- I- Oh! I'll take that!" I smiled, grabbing the small box from her. I walked to my room at set the box down on my dresser. I wanted to open it now, but I wanted to spend time with them instead of being cooped up in my room. Which, I know I will be anyways.
I walked back into my living room and saw that they were getting comfortable. I honestly didn't know how to host a party, or host anything really. There was another knock on the door, and I walked over. Jon, Blaine, Jordan and Chris were all bickering in the hallway. I giggled and let them in. I showed them where the beers were, and where the food was and there was another knock. I greeted Maggie and Cole. I knew this was going to be a long night, even though I didn't want it to be AND I wanted to be nice to my neighbors and not get too loud. But knowing my company, and especially the animation team, we don't quite know what quiet is.
