"I must find food!" Mari bark angrily.

She was currently sneaking around the Pride Lands, trying to find something to feed the clan. The hyena population was decreasing day after day, and they were in desperate need of food. She wouldn't let her family starve, so she was determined to hunt. No animals would be out at this hour, so this won't be an easy task.

She had her body below the tall grass, trying to stay hidden from any watchful eyes.

SNAP!

A twig breaks behind her. She turns around, tuning in the approaching figure.

"Who's there?!" She gets into her attack position.

"Mari?" She rolls her eyes immediately at the voice.

"Hodari, what are you doing here? I'm the one who's doing the hunting tonight."

Hodari was a male hyena who helps train certain members of the clan. He is brown with spots on his fur.

"My apologies, but your father insisted that I come with you just in case you got attacked or hurt."

Mari stomp her paw on the ground, angrily. "Gosh, he never trusts me to do anything on my own. I'll show him and my mother that I can do it!"

She begins to sprint ahead.

"Mari, wait!" Hodari called behind her. She ignored him.

A strong scent blow through the wind and under her nose. It smelled of fresh blood. She continued running as her scent led her to a large bush. Behind it was a half-eaten zebra carcass. It was obviously claimed by a lion judging by the large claw and teeth marks.

"Got something?" Hodari asks, completely out of breath.

"Yes! This zebra won't feed us all, but at least we got something."

He nods, grabbing the large part of the carcass in his mouth. "Great, now let's get out of here before we get caught!"

Mari nods also, helping him carry the dead animal. They begin to walk away from the bush.

"Kion, I see them! It's two hyenas!"

Kion and the rest of the Lion Guard team approach the scene. Kion roars loudly.

"Hyenas! I thought the King already warned your clan to never return here! And you stole our lunch!" Said Fuli.

Hodari drop the zebra, stepping forward. "Oh come on, pal. Cut us some slack. The Out Lands isn't such a great place to find food, you know.."

"Maybe if your clan wouldn't have caused my pride so much trouble over the years, maybe we could at least try to associate. Being exciled is what you hyenas deserve and asked for." Kion says.

"How dare you!" Mari barks, preparing to attack.

"I wouldn't hyena. We will definitely have a word with Kovu about this but for now, how about we all get some rest?" Bunga adds.

Kion nods, and shifts his eyes back to the hyenas.

"Take it and get out. We're finished here."

Both Mari and Hodari turn to walk away grabbing the carcass.

"This isn't the last you'll see of us, Lion Guard..." Hodari growls, disappearing into the shadows.
