Sky's POV
I pushed through the rain on my way to my low paying, dumb job. I didn't earn much wiping off tables and fulfilling orders of snotty white girls demanding extra whipped cream on their Lattes. I'm surprised I still even have a job considering I show up barely half the time.
"Sky?"
I looked up at the sound of an all too familiar voice, Harry.
"Oh hey Harry..." I answered while brushing my fingers through my hair. He noticed the tension within me and told me to sit.
Harry bought me a coffee, against my will of course, and sat across from me.
He placed his over sieve giant hands around BOTH of our coffees and carted them over in one hand. There was a wound sticking out on the corner between his thumb and index finger... a burn.
"Hey Harry? you've got a bu-"
"I'm fine! I'll be fine!" He quickly assured, making it obvious he didn't want to focus on the swollen wound seeking some attention.
"Ok"
Geez chill.
He brushed it off as if nothing was wrong and there wasn't an infected burn on his hand. I sipped on my steaming drink and Harry looked intently at me.
"Sky? Can I tell you something?"
"Um I don't know... I guess so..."
People confiding information in me wasn't common so I was completely unaware of what he was going to say.
"I like you, I think you're cool!"
"Um thanks?"
I'd never been one to really be good at making friends, and it never bothered me. So I was caught off guard by his compliment and didn't know what to say. "Do you like me?" He asked after an awkward moment of silence. The panic on his face almost made me laugh but I didn't. That would be rude.
Who am I becoming?!
"Look Harry, I'm not one on having friends and going out to party's and stuff. I like the locked away and self centered life I live."
"Why?"
Dammit can't this boy shut up already?!
"Because I know then nobody can hurt me or-"
I'd said too much! Can I please rewind and take those words back?
I never revealed MY secrets (SECRETS being the key word here) to anyone, so why would I all of a sudden openly discuss them with some stranger that stopped me from killing, or relieving myself to sound nicer. As if there was a way to make the subject sound nicer.
Harry looked at me like he was trying I read my mind. Needless to say I was uncomfortable.
I hurried outside and shivered as the air hit my bare arms, but not before my boss could scream at me.
Basically I wouldn't be returning to work. Oops.
I ran to the broken, deserted park where I hoped to shelter myself from everyone.
My eyes filled with tears and I curled up in the tunnel I could barely fit my over weight body into. I cried harder because it felt good to let go after holding it in for so long. Then I got angry and furious I let myself stoop to such a low level.
The less than desirable, familiar voice yelled again, "Sky?!!"
"Screw off Harry! I'm serious!!" I choked out, trying not to reveal the tears trying to escape.
"C'mon Sky! Talk to me!"
"No! Why would I talk to YOU?!"
Harry poked his head around the corner, finding me.
That's when I felt it.
My eye sight went blurry and my head felt lighter than a feather. The lack of food and lacking to drink water had caught up with me and I knew what was gonna happen next.
"Harry, I'm going to pass-"
My eyelids shut and I collapsed into a pair if muscular arms. I lost track of what happened after that.
••••••••••••••
My heavy eyelids hoisted themselves up to reveal an unfamiliar place. "Good your awake." Harry mumbled through the entry way.
"Um? Harry? Is that you?"
"Yeah... you've been passed out on my couch for an hour now."
I looked down to realize I was sitting on a brown leather sofa with an unfamiliar flannel button up. My weak legs sprung up, a mistake I had to ignore.
"Well thanks for the hospitality but I'll be going now!" I ignored the throbbing pain in my head and headed straight for the door.
"Sky? Do you need a ride?" Harry asked as if he was actually concerned.
"No!" I harshly spat and continued to walk.
I didn't mean to come off as rude but I can't drag anyone down with me and I can't take the risk of getting hurt...
Not again.
