Sky's POV
I hadn't seen Harry in 3 days, and although he's messaged me, he's made no appearance. The messages were assuring but I wish he would come see me so that assurance could be 100% there.
That assurance had to be there. Whether he wanted to see me or not I had to see him.
I grabbed my bag and flung it over my shoulder.
"Bye Mom!"
I shut the door behind me, leaving her no time to respond.
Being as we could barely afford my moms car, I was stuck on foot.
My white converse trudged through the puddles of rain water that filled the sinks in the sidewalk. I figured they wouldn't be so white anymore after I finished this walk.
It wasn't a far walk to Harry's flat, so I never minded the distance but the moist, sticky air wasn't very flattering.
My hand folded into a fist as I hit the door I stood at. The sound of clicking could be heard as Harry struggled to unlock his door.
"Can I help- Oh Sky... I wasn't expecting you..."
It took me a minute to realize who's doorstep I had actually showed up at and when reality hit that I was at Harry's my jaw unlatch at his painful appearance...
His beautiful green eyes were being dulled out by the blackness that surrounded them, while his forehead portrayed a gash in need of stitches.
"Harry what the hell happened?" I urged.
"I fell?" His unsure tone responded.
This boy hasn't just fallen. Something happened. Something serious.
"Your lying!" I screamed, probably disrupting the neighbors nearby. But I could care less. I was utterly pissed he wouldn't tell me the truth.
"C'mon Sky... I can't talk out here"
His hand reached out to pull me inside, but I jerked away.
I followed him inside his flat, shutting the door behind me. Harry turned around, his forehead beginning to bleed again.
"Sit Harry!" I commanded.
Being as I don't mind snooping in other peoples stuff I opened a bathroom cabinet and pulled out a rag, wetting it down with tap water. When I returned he was intently watching my every move.
I gently pressed the cloth to his wound, causing him to flinch at the contact.
"C'mon Harry, don't be a baby! So tell me how you got this!" I said trying to mentally calm myself down.
Harry looked out the window, trying to avoid my question.
I slammed the rag on the coffee table and jerked his face towards me. Gently though not wanting to injure him any further.
"Harry, if you're going to keep things from me then I don't see how 'this' is going to work!"
"Sky I'm only trying to protect you"
"I'm 19 Harry! I'm thankful you care for my safety but you can't hide things from me"
"Ok fine! You wanna know the truth?! I fight..."
My eyes widened and my mouth fell agape.
It felt like someone had kicked me and knocked all the air out of my lungs.
My lungs worked at an increased speed, barely keeping up with my rapid breathing.
"Sky?! Are you ok?"
"NO I AM NOT OK!" I screamed and accidentally spilled the tears in my eyes.
All the earlier attempts at running away had succeeded, but this time Harry caught me.
He grabbed my arm an pulled me towards him, causing me to slam into his toned body.
"Not this time Sky"
Harry's POV
Sky was scared, but I couldn't figure out why.
Was she scared of me?
"Sky what's wrong?"
"YOU FIGHT! THATS WHAT'S WRONG!"
"I know! That's what I just said" adding a hint of amusement behind my comment.
Her stare was cold and clearly unamused. Probably not the right time for joking around.
"Because!! I- I...I used to fight!" Sky could barely fit in her shocking statement between the restart of her tears.
Her gaze looked away from mine as if she was ashamed.
I reached out and tapped on her shoulder like she was a stranger.
She looked at me, her beautiful blue eyes filled with tears and utter pain. "What-what do you mean?" I stuttered trying to control my eyes from leaking.
"I can't tell you!" She wailed.
I held out my pinky, "I promise not to tell a soul"
She looked at me and entwined her pinky with mine. Her breathing slowly slightly and her loud sobs quieted to minimal cries.
"I normally wouldn't trust someone, especially with this. But you've seen my darkness, bitterness and scars...So maybe, perhaps I believe you"
Sky's POV
I sat criss-crossed on Harry's bed, across from him, popping my fingers...
A nervous habit I'd inherited over the years. Which wouldn't end in my favor.
No one ever knew about my past because I'd never given anyone my trust.
Now I was putting my trust into someone I'd known barely for a month.
But with Harry it was different, I felt like I'd known him forever.
"It was my dad..." I finally managed to blurt out.
"He hurt you?" His eyes were full of sympathy. I normally would've yelled but his sympathy I could use right now.
"No, he sold me, or bet on me in fights. It was mainly other girls I fought with an occasional boy thrown in. All for money... For his 'needs'... If I lost, I received no food for days and sometimes worse"
Harrys green eyes were locked with mine and he took my hand in his. Rubbing little circles with his thumb.
I pulled back my hair, unveiling the deep scar that had never quite healed correctly. Harry's eyes closed tightly as he winced at the sight of my wound.
"He threw a glass bottle at me one night..."
Tiny drops began to fall from Harry's eyes as he reached his breaking point. I reached over and gently wiped away the tears from his cheeks, returning the favor he had done me many times.
"Don't cry Harry... I lived didn't I?"
He squeezed my hand tighter.
Our foreheads touched as I whispered soothing words to him.
"I've never met someone like you Harry... Now that I've fallen for you, I just don't wanna see you get hurt..." I referred back to our previous argument over his fights.
"I'm sorry Sky" he whispered trying not to allow his voice to crack.
"Why are you sorry?"
"Because I wasn't there to help you..."
