210: Competitive Spirit

"Catch me if you can!" 5 year old Asu Rito yelled to her best friend Budo as she sprinted through the playground. He laughed as he chased her. They were best friends, and always liked to play chase each other every day through the playground during their lunch break.
"Wait up Asu!" He shouted to her with a whiny voice. They both laughed as they continued sprinting around, tagging each other as they ran. They continued until Asu's foot got caught in a crack in the pavement. She made a loud scream as she tripped over. "Asu!" He shouted her name as he sat down beside her. She looked like she was in a lot of pain, and her ankle looked like it was swelling up.
"Budo!" She whined sadly. He picked her up with ease, carrying his best friend to the teacher so her ankle could be seen to by the nurse. He knew they wouldn't be able to play together for a little while, but he didn't mind.

Present Day:

"Go Asu!" Budo shouted as he watched her competing in a track event. She was a good few paces ahead of her competition. Asu gave him a smile as she sprinted to the finish line. An eruption of cheer could be heard as Asu stepped over the finishing line ahead of her competition. She went straight to him. "I'm so proud of you, Asu." Budo shouted to her as she jumped at him playfully. She laughed as he put her down.
"You guys would be cute together." Saki, who had been standing beside Budo the whole time, interjected. They looked at each other for a second before looking back at Saki.
"Absolutely not!" They said in unison. Neither of them wanted to be with each other. Asu like Taro, and Budo had his eyes on someone else. They also didn't want to ruin their childhood friendship by dating.

"Kick his ass, Budo!" Asu cheered as she watched Budo in his karate championship match. He smirked a little as he pinned his challenger to the ground, winning the match. Asu's cheers were the loudest. He smiled as he claimed his trophy and medal before being met by Asu.
"Neat trophy, boy." She laughed a little, taking it from him to look at it. "I still have more than you, though." She bragged, earning herself a light slap on the back from Budo. He laughed as she playfully slapped him back. They walked out of the building messing around, just like the best friends did.
