263: When Death Brought Us Together

Osana Najimi x Miyano (Yandere-kun):

Osana sobbed, looking down. She was standing on the roof, looking down. Just a week ago, her best friend Taeko had taken her life here. She'd jumped off after months of being stalked and harassed by someone she didn't even know. She couldn't take it any more. In Osana's hand was a cluster of pink petals from the blossom tree she planned to confess her love under the day of Taeko's suicide. She released them, sighing sadly.
"Why Taeko?... why couldn't you talk to me?" She asked quietly, getting all choked up. She still remembered the weeks leading up to her suicide.

"Osana, I'm scared." Taeko told her ginger haired bestie, looking up at her. She was very scared and anxious. It was the day before Taeko threw herself off the school roof. Osana rolled her eyes.
"You keep making things up, Taeko. Nobody's following you. I've been making sure." Osana told her, sighing. She'd kept an eye out, but hadn't seen anyone suspicious stalking them. The darker haired girl whimpered, holding her hand even tighter.
"I still feel it. I swear I'm not crazy!" Taeko tried to reason. Part of Osana wanted to hug Taeko and console her, but that couldn't get past her tsundere-ness.
"You need to just get over it, Taeko. Nothing is going to happen to you." Osana snapped, trying to snap her out of her delusions. She looked scared and devastated, heartbroken that her best friend wasn't comforting her or even believing her.
"S-Sorry..." she mumbled, looking down sadly and continuing to walk with Osana. The ginger huffed, holding on to her hand as they walked to school.

She'd never forget the look on Taeko's face. If she'd just hugged her, said something different, would she still be here? Was she to blame? She sighed sadly, watching the petals flutter away. Someone appeared beside her. She looked over, seeing a taller boy beside her.
"Mourning Taeko too?" He asked Osana, looking over the view. One of the last Taeko's eyes ever saw. Osana nodded, not speaking to him. "I saw her, the day she died. I missed her, just by a second."

Taeko's legs shook under her, looking around. She was stood next to the railing, the one she'd step over to end it all. She was scared, and she couldn't live like this anymore. She slipped her shoes off her feet, standing up slowly on the railing. Everyone else was in class now, so nobody could see her. Nobody could stop her.
Miyano came out on to the roof, his heart stopping. His beloved Taeko was on the railing. He realised what he had done. He's tried to protect her from harm, but he'd driven her to do this. He had to do something.
"Taeko!" He shouted her name, running over. She didn't even look at him, falling forward. He reached his hand down, narrowly missing her. She had turned on to her back, looking up at him. He could see the fear and helplessness in her eyes as she fell from the roof and collided with the floor below.

Miyano sighed sadly. He would always regret the second that cost Taeko her life. He should've grabbed her hand and pulled her back, he should've held her close and promised she'd be safe. Osana went silent for a while. Miyano moved his hand, holding on to Osana's hand. It just felt right.
"Do you think Taeko would want this?" Osana asked quietly. Her heart was starting to beat a little faster now that he was holding her hand. He shrugged.
"We'll never know now what she wanted, but we should at least try to get along for her sake." Miyano said to her. Osana nodded once, intertwining her fingers with him. Silently, they both looked out over the view. Maybe this was the start of something beautiful for them.
