254: Bottled Up Inside

Based on something that happened to me very recently...

Taro Yamada x Oka Ruto:

They say you can't bottle your feelings inside forever. What they didn't tell you was that it hurts to let them out.

Oka sighed, looking at the note in her hand. Today was the day she planned to confess her love to Taro. She was too nervous to tell him to his face, but she hoped he would understand how she felt and feel the same way about her. Of course, that was unlikely but she wouldn't know until she tried. She secretly slipped the note into his locker before walking away. She hoped he would see it and understand.

She didn't know when this had started, her feelings for him. They'd been friends for a long time, but she felt something when she was around him. Something different to what she'd ever felt before. It both scared her and made her happy. She'd never been one to understand her emotions, but she knew this feeling. She'd read about it so often she knew it. She was in love with him.

The weekend dragged by slowly. He didn't speak to her at all, and she wondered a lot about if he felt the same. She didn't push it, knowing he would probably need time to think about it. She understood. She would need time if someone out of the blue told her they had feelings for her. She just hoped all of this waiting wouldn't lead to upset.

After a few days more of waiting, she finally got a Facebook message from him. He'd barely spoken to her in that time, and when they had spoken he was acting the same as usual towards her. Her heart sped up as she read the message he'd sent, her heart slowing just as quickly as it had sped up. He didn't feel the same about her. He liked someone else, and didn't think they'd be compatible together. Her heart shattered into pieces as she read it again. She wasn't surprised, but it still hurt a lot. A tear rolled down her cheek as she was forced to accept it. Was she going to be bitter about it though? Absolutely not. It wasn't his fault, and it wasn't her fault. She'd just have to support him and hope he was happy with whoever he chose. If you love someone, you have to let them go no matter how much it will hurt. That's what love does. It hurts the lonely and favours those who are pretty and social. That was the hardest lesson for her to learn.
