Miri
We had been on the road for awhile now and neither of us had spoken a word. I was tired, hungry, and in dire need of a bath and clean clothes. I was to afraid of Cole to speak right now. After seeing him in action tonight and watching as he gripped the wheel until his knuckles turned white I didn't know what to expect. Some moments it seemed like he'd calmed down then a sudden burst of rage would come fourth and he'd press his foot on the gas pedal taking his frustration out on the road.
Due to my bladder on the verge of exploding I finally spoke out. "Cole" I barely whispered his name. After a few seconds he turned toward me but didn't speak.
"I'm really in need of a bathroom break".
Nothing, silence. He pulled off of the main highway and found a secluded road. Pulling to the side he killed the engine, got out welding his gun, opened my door and pulled me out. Lifting me onto his shoulder he trudged through the overgrown weeds and took several steps into the trees. He's going to kill me right here I thought. My body will be found on the side of this gloomy road. I'll become a urban legend, the girl who haunts this highway stopping innocent drivers.
Cole sat me down and I swiped my tears away. "Go" he demanded.
"Go" I repeated. Does he really want me to walk off and leave in these dark trees on a abandoned road.
Swishing his gun welding hand toward the ground he repeated "go. Relieve yourself".
Wait a minute. Does he really want me to pop a squat out here on the ground? I've never had to do this and wasn't to kneen on having my booty that close to the ground. Bugs, snakes, no telling what could be down there.
"Miri go" Cole said with his tone laced with acid.
"Turn away" I mumbled as I wondered what was I thinking when I jumped into his car. A few moments later I rose and he lifted me back up and placed me back into his car. A few more miles down the road I spoke again. "I'm really hungry and tired. I'd love a bath as well".
No reply on his end.
"Cole please. I've been held hostage for a few days now and I could really use some food and rest".
Cole slammed the car over to the side of the road and angrily took my chin between his fingers. "That should have never happened Mirimosa. Do you realize by you going out into the world and sleezeing around you almost got the family killed. As a matter of fact you did. There's dead men laying all around your house".
He let my chin go with a snap and I let out a sob that I'd been holding in. I knew all of that and yes I felt responsible for what happened but Cole didn't have to throw it in my face. I turned my body toward the door and curled into myself as sobs racked my body. Finally I fell into a restless sleep.
The sun was coming up over the horizon when Cole nudged me. He tossed a bag of fast food breakfast in my lap and handed me a water. "Eat" he said.
I downed the food and guzzled my water. My eye's teared up again and I said. "Let me use your phone to contact Pape. He will send someone for me".
"No".
"Please Cole".
"I said fucking no".
Judging from his tone I decided to let it be for now but decided to try another tatic that may give me a chance to escape. "Cole I really need a bathroom. Somewhere I can shower".
Thirty minutes later Cole pulled into a slumy motel somewhere in Ohio. My stomach churned at the sight of the room. A worn comforter was laid across the only bed, water stains lined the celing, musty smell, and the tub had rust spots. Shuddering I said in a tiny voice. "Cole I don't have any clean clothes".
