Chapter 19

"Why didnt you tell me?" She asked once we got in the car
"I wasnt sure when exactly I would be coming back." Looking out the window
"Well you should have told me." She said sounding disappointed.
"I know Im sorry." I said looking over at her
"Its fine. I guess. You never did tell me what happened at your last doctors appointment with your OB." She said remembering that I actually never did tell her
"Oh, yeah that appointment." I said getting nervous and playing with my rings
"It wasnt good was it." She asked looking over at me and I whispered no
"You can tell me anything you know that right." She said reaching over and grabbing my hand
"She said I cant have anymore kids and if I did it would be a miracle." I said wiping a few tears away
"Hey, its ok. You have Raelynn and you can always borrow the boys." She said cheering me up
"Thats true." I said with a slight laugh
"So have you ever been to Denver?" She asked
"Uh ya for a snowboarding trip. I actually dont remember much of it." I laughed reflecting on my sophomore year of college.
"Oh those were the days." She laughed as we parked at the airport
The plane ride there we went over the victims with one name sticking out to me the most but I didnt know why.
The unsub was targeting and killing young men similar to Jacob. Well built and married, all having a previous drug problem.
"So, the drugs are all different. Cocaine looks like it was all their previous drug of choice." Rossi said
"All used in college and for some of them just graduated when Britt did." Hotch said looking at me
"What was the drug culture like?" Tara asked looking at me
"I stayed away from it. But its popular among the athletes and rich kids. Thats how Jacob was brought into it." I said reflecting on it
"Garcia are the guys athletes or wealthy?" Hotch asked
"Well boss man they all are except the last victim. Daniel Matthews, he is not married nor rich but was an athlete at Georgetown. He does have a girl friend Lexi Chapman." Garcia said making it finally click. I didnt say anything because I wanted to stay on the case.
"When we land Britt and JJ talk to Daniels girlfriend. Alvez and Rossi go to the last crime scene. Tara and I will go to the police department and set up." Hotch said as we got relaxed for the rest of the plane ride.
We land and go to the SUVs and I automatically went to the passenger seat.
"I think the unsub was not with the athletes. Or was and wasnt rich enough to hang out with them and their luxury lifestyle." I said looking at the pictures again and seeing a happy Lexi next to Daniel.
"Was Jacob an athlete?" She asked me
"No. We were friends with them because I was." I said thinking back to the week I spent in Denver

Flashback
"Take the shot Britt!" Daniel yelled with Jacob
"You dont need to." Lexi said holding on to the shot glass
"How about we do it together?" I asked and she nodded
"3-2-1!" Nick chanted as we both took them
"Thats my girl." Daniel said wrapping his arm around her neck and kissed her on the forehead
"The fire works are about to go off." Jacob whispered in my ear
"Lets go watch. Lexi, Danny you going to come watch the fire works with us?" I asked taking a sip of my beer
"Yeah. Let me get blankets." She said as the three of us walked out
"So, Danny you are getting really close to Lexi." I said starting to hint
"Shes hot. What can I say." He said blushing
"Oh no you are wrapped around her little finger. Im proud you finally grew up." Jacob said laughing
"Well what about you smart guy. Britt defiantly has you whipped." Daniel said laughing
"And I am thankful for it." Jacob said pulling me into a deep kiss
"Aww, go get a room." Lexi laughed breaking the moment
"Oh we will be having our own fire work show later." Jacob laughed making me roll my eyes as he was given a high five from Daniel

"Britt. We are at their house." JJ said making me snap out of that moment
"Ok." Was all I could say
Walking up to the house felt different. Daniel graduated a year before us and Lexi moved to finish school online to be with him.
"Lexi Chapman." JJ said as she answered the door
"Britt?" She asked looking at me standing behind JJ trying to hide
"Hey Lex." I said before she slammed the door on us
"To the car now." JJ demanded as we walked back
"You know her?" She asked getting upset
"Yeah and Daniel." I said looking down
"Why did you say anything?" She asked
"Because I wanted to stay on the case." I said before I went back up to her door with her in my heels
"Lex. Let me in." I said knocking
I heard sniffling and the door opening.
"What are you doing here?" She asked stepping in full view
"Im with the FBI now. This is Jennifer shes also with the FBI." I said showing her my badge
"Can we talk?" JJ asked and she stepped out of the way to let us in
Her house was cute. Happy pictures of them all around. I was looking at some when I came across the snowboarding trip.
"That was a fun night." She said sitting in the couch
"It was." I said smiling
"That was the first time Dan admitted that he liked me and when you and Jacob said you loved each other for the first time." She said wiping a tear away
"Kaitlyn told me you two got married." She said with a slight smile
"Yeah, for a couple of years now." I said smiling
"And a baby." She laughed
"Yeah, a little girl Raelynn." I said smiling and showing her a picture I took yesterday
"Did you ever find your birthmother? I remembered you being pretty hung up on finding her." She said as I smiled
"Lex, JJ is my mom." I said proudly
"Well thats awesome." She said as we started out interview.
