Chapter 26

"Call Hotch." Was all I heard from the chaos happening around me.
I looked at Jacob who had anger in his eyes that seemed to soften as he looked at me before pulling me tightly into a hug. It seemed like it was only us in the room as we just hugged each other tighter.
"Mrs. LaMontange its for you." The maid said holding out the phone to me
I picked it up hear the familiar voice from the airport
"Brittney I see you found my letter." He said as I put it on speaker making everyone shut up
"What do you want?" I asked trying to stay composed
"A game or a trade what ever you decided." He laughed
"Is she okay?" Jacob asked
"Oh shes perfectly fine Jacob. She does have an attitude, how do you two parent a child that is always misbehaving?" He questioned
"Whats the game?" I asked getting to the point
"You go through this whole weekend without bringing the team in for finding her and you will get her back. She will be perfectly fine and not a scratch or bruise on her."He said as if it was simple
"Whats the trade?" I asked not knowing if I can keep the team out of it
"Well thats up to you. One of your team members for her." He said as I thought hard about the two choices
"I will give you three hours to decide before we start." He said hanging up
"We could use this." JJ said as I looked up at her
"How? He has Raelynn and all I want is her back." I said almost starting to cry
"We get the team involved." She said oddly calm
"We cant didnt you hear him." I said upset
"Its what he does. He wants the team to get together so he has us all in one area. It makes us and easier target. Children have never been part of any victimology he has, this is new. We can go on the weekend until Monday while the team works in Quantico." She said as I felt Jacobs arm wrap around me pulling me close
"How will you know he wont do anything. Hes a murder and escaped from prison." I said unsure of his plans
"He will be watching us here. He will be watching the wake, possibly go to the funeral, and watch us go to the will reading. But if he sees the team here something will happen." She said as I just nodded
"And what about Saturday and Sunday?" I asked knowing those two days would be the hardest
"We do something family like. As long as he is focused here in New York he wont suspect anything is happening in Quantico." She said making me understand it more
"Alright. Can Jacob and I talk about this first together?" I asked trying to clear the room as everyone said yes and left

"What do you want to do?" I asked filling the silence
"I want you to quit the FBI as soon as we get her back." He said full of anger
"I will think about it." I said matching his anger
"No. You wont. This job has almost killed you twice and has put our family in danger twice. I cant support this dream of yours anymore." He said as tears filled my eyes after listening to him
"Can we talk about the job later?" I asked wiping tears away and he nodded
"He said a team member. I can go for the trade for her." I said as his eyes turned stormy at the mention of me taking her place
"No. You will not do that again. Knowing your wife is taken and knowing shes in pain some where and you cant help is the hardest thing to ever have to go through." He said holding my face too look up at his as he kissed me deeply and full of passion
"So we let him keep her?" I asked as my eyes filled
"I have a feeling the team will get her first." He said before kissing me again

We were back down stairs waiting for Mr. Scratches phone call sitting in silence. Before we said anything the phone rang.
"Hello." I said trying to sound confidently
"Well its been three hours and no feds have came to the house. I take it you are letting me have her." He said almost laughing
"On one condition." Jacob said in a demanding way
"I make the rules you dont." He said trying to bother Jacob even more
"We get to talk to her everyday so we know shes alright. You said nothing would happen to her and its to keep your end of the deal of having her unharmed." I said before Jacob could say anything that could anger him
"Fine. That seems reasonable. But I will call you when I think you should talk to her." He said before hanging up and we all let go of the breath we were holding
"So, this guy is into playing games?" Dylan asked looking at JJ as she nodded yes
"I think we can play his game too." Preston said with the Nolan boys smirk
"He doesnt realize that we control most of New York." Dylan laughed as Mike and Debra caught on to what they were doing
"You two are right." Mike said standing up and making a phone call
"Whats going on?" I asked Debra
"They are using the name to make it known that something has happened." Jacob said before Debra could answer
"He is going to contact all the people we know who have connections. For example, private detectives, building owners, other lawyers and the hospitals. This way we have everything getting handled without police or the FBI getting involved." Debra said in a calming way
"So, this is a normal thing?" Will asked confused
"Yes." Debra and the boys said together
"The more money the more power you have in a city." Preston said arrogantly
"I think I need to lie down." I said standing up and going back to Jacobs room before stopping out front of it
"Lets just go to a guest room." Jacob said behind me as I nodded and followed him
