Chapter 43

"Mommy. Mommy. Mommy." A whisper was coming from Rae as she poked my arm non stop
"What?" I asked still keeping my eyes closed
"Daddy is home." She said yelling as the bed sunk down with more weight
"Oh he is." I said looking up seeing Jacob sitting with Rae on his lap
"Yes daddy is home." He said leaning over to kiss my forehead
"Tell her." Rae attempted to whisper as Jacob nodded
"We are going out to dinner tonight." He said smiling
"Oh we are, are we?" I asked looking at them
"Well you two are. Daddy said its date night because Nana and PaPa are here." She said sounding upset she couldnt join us
"I bet Daddy will take you on a special date too." I said sitting up to be closer to them
"Really?" She asked looking up at him
"Sure princess." He said kissing her forehead
"Yes." She yelled before running out of the room
"Take a shower and get ready." He said before leaving

I finally finish getting ready and stood in our closet looking at what I should wear.
"Wear the outfit from the first date." JJ said standing at my closet doorway
"So your talking to me again?" I asked pulling out a black v neck, a pair of jeans and my leather jacket
"What you did was stupid today." She said as she watched me change
"Ya I know." I said rolling my eyes
"I mean it. You cant be pulling this shit anymore Britt." She said sternly
"I get it ok. What I did was risky but Im doing it to protect my family." I said putting on the necklace I got from Jacob before his grandmas funeral and my wedding rings
"Protect your unborn child." She said pointing at my stomach
"Stop. I made a mistake. I get it. I learned. Stop treating me like a child." I said shrugging on my jacket
"No you dont get it. You are a mother. Start putting Raelynn and the baby first. Your career needs to come second." She said closing the closet door meaning business
"I put my family first. I walked away from the FBI and work at the desk at the gym. Do you think I enjoy that? All my hard work in school has gone to waste. I answer questions about class schedules and payment plans with sweaty people around me. Then I come home with a cranky three year old because people were slamming weights and she wasnt able to fully take a nap. This is not the life I had ever envisioned for myself." I said holding tears back
"What did you envision?" She asked leaning on the door
"Working in the FBI, married to Jacob, and not losing three babies for god sakes. Losing the first one was hard but I was 20 and not ready. Losing the second one was my fault because I put myself in the situation. And I had no control of the third. Shit Im not even sure with this one. And on top of all of that I believe its because of the abortion I had in college that makes it impossible for me." I yelled before breaking down crying
"Britt Im sorry. I just wanted you to know your actions have consequences." She said pulling me into a hug
"I need to go." I said pushing her away and wiping the tears away
"We will end this and your family will be safe again." She said making me nod because thats all I want

"Wow you look amazing." Jacob said when I walked down the stairs
"You dont look bad your self." I said before kissing his cheek
"What about me?" Rae yelled running and attacking my legs
"You always look amazing princess." I said picking her up and pulling her into a big hug
"Be good for Nana and Papa." Jacob said taking her away from me for his own hug
"I will. Nana said we can make cookies." She yelled while being out down
"I will be here too." JJ said laughing walking down the stairs
"She is in good hands now go." Debra said as Mike and JJ nodded in agreement as we left

"Shes not going to be asleep when we get home." I laughed getting in the car
"I figured that out when she said cookies." Jacob laughed turning the car on
"Not our problem tonight." I said smiling and holding his hand
"Lets get this long overdue date night started." Jacob said kissing the back of my hand before pulling out of the garage
