Chapter 25

"I can explain." I said still sitting down on the couch with tears running down my face
"Why did a car drive out of here fast? Wheres Jacob? Why are you crying?" Debra asked holding Rae as they came back down
"I can explain." I said again but looking at JJ
"Oh no." She said knowing what happened
"Preston Dylan can you take Rae. I think the landscapers are done." Debra said as Dylan took Rae and they went outside
"I thought you were going to wait to tell him." JJ said sitting down with me
"I was but I was talking to Nicole and I mentioned it and he over heard." I said not even able to look at anyone
"What were you talking about?" Debra asked
"Well, Im not able to have anymore children and if I did it would be a miracle." I said as her face dropped with sadness
"But Jacob knew that. He was at the appointment. I told Nicole that my luck was slim because I have had two miscarriages and an abortion." I said looking down at my hands as JJ rubbed my back
"Was it his?" She asked calmly taking me by surprise
"No. It was before I met him." I said looking up at her
"I need to know the story." She said kindly
"Um it was my freshman year and I went to a party. I didnt drink at all and had a water bottle that I brought from my dorm with me the entire night. I set it down for a quick minute to take a picture. The next thing I knew I was back in my dorm and didnt remember what happened the rest of the night after the picture." I said as her face soften from anger
"I missed a period and took a test. It came back positive. I was so young and didnt want to ruin my future so I went and got one. I met Jacob the next month afterwards. It wasnt his." I said looking around the room and seeing Jacob was back and standing in the door way with tears falling down his face.
"Why didnt you tell me?" He asked as I stood up to see him
"I pushed it away because it was done and over with." I said pulling him into a hug
"How are you not angry about being raped?" He asked as his body filled with anger
"I cant remember anything. For all I know is that I could have consented." I said pulling away
"Im sorry." I said looking into his sad eyes
"We can talk about it later." He said walking to the back yard
"He will be fine let him think about it." Debra said standing up and taking me into a hug
"Are you mad?" I asked knowing she should be
"No. Absolutely not. It wasnt Jacobs and you had a good reason to do it. Why dont we go shopping?" She asked looking between JJ and Nicole
"I dont think I will. Im just going to go upstairs." I said just wanting to be alone
"Ok. We will bring Rae with us so you dont have to worry about her." Debra said as I walked upstairs to Jacobs room and laid down. I cried for what seemed like an hour before falling asleep. I was woken up with my hair being played with. I looked up and saw it was Jacob.
"Hey. What time is it?" I asked still unaware
"Almost three. You slept for a good couple of hours." He said looking into my eyes
"Im sorry I didnt tell you." I said starting to tear up
"I understand. Lets not keep anything away from each other anymore." He said kissing my forehead
"Ok. Whats going on tonight?" I asked
"The wake and tomorrow is the funeral and Friday the will reading." He said looking up at the ceiling with my head on his chest as he continued to play with my hair.
"Do you want to leave Sunday?" I asked knowing we should spend time with the family
"Ya. Nick said the gym in doing fine so Im not worried." He said pulling me closer
"Hows Rae?" I asked needing to know
"Shes good. Spoiled like always." He laughed before a small knock came at the door and we sat up and Jacob told them come in
"Hey she couldnt fall asleep for her nap and wanted her mommy and daddy." Nicole said carrying a half asleep Rae. Jacob got up automatically and took her from her arms and thanked her
"The princess couldnt sleep?" I asked getting a small nod as she reached out to me
I laid down with her pulled close to me as Jacob laid down next to us
"I think Im going to finish my sleeve." He said as Rae traced his arm as it reached over to me
"What are to going to put on the top part?" I asked
"More mountains the bottom is pretty much tress and I need to put something on top." He said as Rae slowly closed her eyes
"We could keep trying you know." I said turning over to look at him
"I know." He smiled and leaned over and gave me a kiss

We left Rae to sleep and we went with the rest of the family.
"Britt we got you a dress for tonight." Debra said as we walked into the living room
"Thanks." I smiled knowing all I had was work clothes and leggings.
"It starts at seven." Mike said as he looked up from his hands with bloodshot eyes
"You two should use the beach house." I suggested wanting to help in some way
"We were thinking of that but wanted to ask you two for your permission." Debra said
"Well you two own it. I dont see why not." Jacob laughed as we both heard muffled sounds come from the baby monitor
"I will go check on her." I said standing up and going up stairs

The room was empty as panic begins to fill me. I look all around and called for her as Jacob and the rest of the family run upstairs right when I see a folded up paper taped to the dresser mirror.
