Chapter 9 - Safe

Lexa's POV

I woke up this morning in last night's clothes with Clarke's arms wrapped around my waist. She's so adorable. Her blue eyes open up and stare back at my green eyes.

"Hey, you're up." she smiled at me.

"Yes, would you like to join me for breakfast?"I asked.

"I would love to."

"We should put on new clothes, these smell like alcohol." I chuckled.

She nodded and released her grip from my waist and got up. I got up as well and we changed.

"Nice back tattoo, what does it mean?" she asked suddenly.

"I got it on the day when the Commander's spirit chose me. Every circle represents a Natblida that was killed."

"7 circles. Didn't you say there were 9 in your conclave?" she asked and I froze.

"Yes. One ran away. She was afraid of what she's become, I do not blame her, I have forgiven her. She did what she thought was right."

"Luna?"

"You know her?"

"Yes, Lincoln mentioned her before. He said she could help us when we first landed. We never got to see her, since we were attacked before we had a chance to set up a meeting."

"If you must know, she was the one who ran away. She would have helped you, but would have needed some convincing to not kill you. Knowing you, that would be an easy task, since you have a way with words, I love that about you."

She smiled and stepped closer.

"Thank you, I love you." she kissed me.

"I love you too."

We head out to go eat breakfast. We are interrupted by Titus.

"Commander, the Ice Nation is angry. Roan is trying his best to contain his people, but they have been brainwashed by Nia and they will not accept him as the King. They want revenge, Lexa. We must calm them down before anything happens." he says worriedly.

"I knew this would happen. Nia manipulated her people for years. Once they are calmed, we will begin talks about trading with the rest of the clans." I respond to his words.

"How do we calm them?" Clarke asked.

"A meeting with the leaders of Azgeda. Roan is included, since he is the King." I answer.

"I will call for them, Heda" Titus says and then leaves Clarke and I.

"I'm scared, Lexa."

"Don't be, we can fix this."

"What if another war occurs?"

"Skaikru will be safe, I can guarantee that I will send an army to help your people in case they attack. You are the weakest clan currently. You have less people who can fight, but you have technology. We need the technology." I respond.

"Good, but what about me? What do I do?" she asked.

"You stay here with me, Clarke. I will keep you safe in Polis. I cannot lose you to Azgeda as I lost Costia to Azgeda."

"I wouldn't leave, even if you told me to."

"I thought so." I smirked.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Clarke." she hugs me tightly.

Titus walks back in.

"You have a day to prepare for the meeting. They will be here by first light." he says. Clarke and I nod.

"We will be ready." I respond.
