Chapter 39 - Before we leave

Clarke's POV

We have two more days until we have to go back to Polis which means we need to start saying goodbye to everyone in Arkadia and make our way to TonDC to see how everyone's doing there. I really like going to TonDC and helping Nyko in the healers tent. I make my rounds to say goodbye to my friends with Lexa then I let her go say goodbye to Anya and others while I go say goodbye to my mom and Kane. I meet her at the gate with my bag, ready to leave for TonDC. After a few minutes, Lexa meets me at the gate with our horses and our guards. Most of the ride to TonDC is silent.

"I'm sorry about Bellamy." Lexa says.

"Don't be, he was a dick, but he was also nice. I just can't get over the fact that he said that he was in love with me. Is that even true?" I ask.

"It's true. The way he looked at you after all these months hasn't changed. He must've fallen in love with you after he saw your strength and how great of a leader you are. I'm just lucky that you fell in love with me and not him." she replies.

"How could I not fall in love with you? You're amazing and honestly, your abs are better than his were." I joke.

"So you only like me for my abs?"

"I love you for everything that you are, Lexa." I say

She blushes and gives me a smile before we arrive at the gates. We get off our horses and take our bags, since we're staying the night. Lexa volunteers to take my bag to the tent while I go check up on Nyko in the healer's tent. I step inside and it's not busy like it usually is. Nyko sees me and walks towards me to give me a hug.

"We don't have anything important, just a few cuts and broken bones." he says before returning to his patients. I walk around and help around the tent for a few hours until Lexa comes to get me.

"Food's ready if you're willing to take a break." she says.

"If I get to spend that break with you, I'll take it."

"You don't have much of a choice, you're stuck with me." she says.

I laugh and take the plate of food she has for me and we go sit down by the fire and talk to the others that are here. We all sit and talk for hours until people start making their ways to their tents and huts to go to sleep. Lexa and I are the last ones out and we sit at the fire a laugh.

"We should go to bed, it's late." she says.

"Agreed." I reply.

She takes my hand and we walk to our tent. We get undressed and we lay under the furs and meet in the middle.

"Goodnight Clarke."

"Goodnight Lexa."

We kiss and I rest my head on her should as her arm wraps around my waist and we fall asleep quickly.
