Lexa's POV

We've been traveling for two days, which means we should be arriving in Polis by nightfall. Clarke, Indra and I are behind two guards and in front of another two guards, just to be safe. There has been word that people see me unfit as Commander, and want me dead because of this. Clarke is more worried than I am about this rumour, but I find it cute that she cares about me. She doesn't know this, but I would die to save her without hesitation. I love her so much, that I would give up my life just to make sure she's safe. I've never really felt like this towards anyone before.

Hours later, the tower comes into view and I look over to my left to look at Clarke. She has a huge smile across her face as soon as she notices we're close now. She looks over at me and I smile back at her.

"I missed this city." she says.

"So did I, I consider this my home away from home, if you understand what I mean." I reply.

"This will become my home, considering I will have to stay here most of the time." she said.

"Yes, that's true. You should probably train an apprentice for when you're away, just in case a flamekeeper is needed in Polis and Titus is unavailable."

"We'll need to convince Titus to let me be his apprentice before we think of anything else."she replied.

"He won't have a choice after I talk to him." I smirk

"Thanks, babe, that means a lot to me. What did you mean by Titus being unavailable?" she asked me.

"After you're done training and he still hasn't changed and tries to tell me all that love is weakness bullshit, he'll be kicked off the building in seconds." I reply.

"Make sure I'm there for when that happens."

"You won't be leaving my sight, Titus might try to kill you if he's enraged about you and I being together."

"Well, I can only defend myself for a limited amount of time, so thanks for making sure I don't die."

"You know I would die if it meant that you'd be safe, right?"

"I would do the same, without hesitation. I love you."

"I love you too, Clarke."

We smile at each other and look away and notice that we arrived at the main gate. We get off our horses and let the guards at the gate take them away for us. Clarke, Indra and I make our way to the tower while the guards put the horses away and will meet us inside. Indra goes directly to her room and Clarke follows me to the throne room.

"I think you should go to our room, I need to talk to Titus and I don't know how he will react to you being his apprentice. But, if you would like to be here, I am not stopping you."

"I would like to join you, I want to talk to him as well." she replied.

"Okay, let's go."

We walk into the throne room hand in hand and see Titus next to me throne. We walk up to him and he glares down at our hands, but doesn't say anything.

"We need to talk, Titus." I say.

"Yes, Heda."

"First, we need another Flamekeeper, in case of an emergency and you aren't available. Secondly, Clarke would be a great Flamekeeper, considering she is always by my side and knows me better than anyone else, despite only being on the ground for less than a year. And finally, you have no choice but to train her, I am giving you orders to do so."

"I understand Heda, but"

"No buts Titus, I will bring Clarke to you in the morning so you can both get started." I say.

"Titus, you can't keep telling Lexa that love is weakness. Everything that has happened in the passed months have proved otherwise. She beat Roan, she killed Nia and she makes the right decisions for everyone. Love is strength and it's time that you realize Titus. Caring for someone isn't a bad thing, it's a good thing, it makes you think about your decisions before you make them." Clarke says to him.

"I understand, Wanheda. I will see you tomorrow. Reshop, Heda. Reshop, Wanheda." he replies.

Clarke and I nod and we walk to our room.

"That was easier than I thought it would be." Clarke confesses.

"I intimidated him so he would comply with my orders."

"Thank you." Clarke smiles at me and kisses my cheek.
