Lexa's POV

Clarke and I wake up like we always do and then go and eat breakfast. We decided to take a day off training, since she worked hard yesterday, so we went outside into the city to explore. When we started walking around, it felt strange, I kept getting a weird feeling that something wasn't right. Clarke looked over at me.

"Is there something wrong, Lexa?" she asked worriedly.

"Yes. Something doesn't feel right. I don't know what it is, but something has changed over night in the city." I answered honestly.

"I get the feeling too, let's find out what it is."

"Okay, let's do it." I answer.

We looked around the market and Clarke sees someone she recognizes and turns to me.

"What's Jaha doing here?" she asks.

"I have no idea who that is, but let's find out."

We walk towards him and notice he's has a bag and a bowl. Something is definitely going on around here.

"Clarke! What brings you to Polis?" he asks.

"I've been here for a while, Jaha. What are you doing here?" Clarke replies.

"Recruiting people into the City of Light. Would you like to join us?" he holds up a chip with the sacred symbol on it.

The City of Light, I know what that is. Something in my head is telling me that it is not a good place. It steals people's memories and gets rid of the pain, basically everything making us human. A.L.I.E created it. She's an A.I created by the first Commander, Becca. Multiple thoughts and memories appear in my head.

"No." I say.

"Why?" Clarke questions.

"I will explain later, but first I need to take those chips from you, Jaha. You are not permitted to give these out to anyone. You will be locked up." I say and I nod to the guards that follow me where I go in case something happens. They take him and give me the bag and the bowl while he tries to resist the guards, but he fails.

"You will regret this!" Jaha yells out before he gets out of sight.

"Can you explain to me what's going on?" Clarke asks me.

"We must go somewhere safe, I think he has given a few chips out and they will not be happy with the fact that he was taken away and locked up. Follow me." I respond and she nods.

We run all the way back into the Commander's chambers and I tell the guards to make sure nobody visits Jaha or us and that if someone does, to lock them up separated from one another. They nod and go warn the others. I place the chips and the bag on the bed and sit down on the couch next to Clarke. She senses that I am worried.

"Are you okay?"

"Clarke, listen to me. Those chips cannot be swallowed by anyone else, I suspect there are others that have taken the chips. Let me explain what it is and what it does. Firstly, that chip is an A.I created by the first Commander, Becca, in space on the 13th station that was supposed to be part of the Ark, but unfortunately, the A.I, A.L.I.E had some problems. She was created to make life better, which means she takes away memories and pain away. She is also the reason the world ended in the first place. She thought overpopulation was an issue which caused life, to basically suck, so she launched missiles and nuclear bombs. Luckily, Becca was smart enough to make a version 2 of A.L.I.E which is what we call the flame. Only Nightbloods can have the flame without dying. That's why there are Commanders. Anyways, Becca created Nightblood and somehow it was passed down several generations. We need to get the chips out of their heads if we don't want this to get worse."

"How do we do that?"

"I don't know. We can just kill them, that will work."

"Are you sure there is no other way?"

"There might be, but I don't know what it is."

We were interrupted by a group of people breaking into the room. Jaha was at the front of the group. Clarke looks at me worried and looks back at the group. I really don't want to kill any of these people, but I don't know what else to do.
