Chapter 46 - Sunsets

Ontari's POV

Once Clarke and Heda left, we went back to watching Lincoln and Octavia fight. They're equal when it comes to fighting, they know what the other is thinking and when they'll attack. I enjoy watching them fight, their movements are so fluent and I admire that. I know I'm a good fighter, but I know I haven't reached my full potential yet. I grab Aden's hand as soon as the fight resumed. After a good 20 minutes, they stopped.

"Aden and Ontari, your turn." Octavia announced.

Aden and I look at each other and grab our swords. Now that everyone has improved their fighting skills, we're allowed to train with our swords, even if it's recommended to train with the training sticks in case something goes wrong. Aden and I are the best at sword fighting and we're used as a demonstration of what to do while in combat. Usually when one of us makes a mistake, Octavia or Lincoln will stop us and tell us what we did wrong. It's a very good way of improving your skills which is way better than just yelling at someone because they messed up like the Queen did when she'd train me.

After about an hour of Octavia and Lincoln pointing out mistakes that are made while in combat, we're dismissed for the rest of that day. Aden and I decided to spend a couple hours in the market looking around at what's for sale. We find some interesting things in the market, but we didn't buy anything except for some food to try out. We were offered free stuff but we denied all of it because we don't need anything right now. After we're done walking around in the market, we head to the training grounds like we always do and we train for about another hour.

"Are you hungry?" Aden asked me.

"Yes, I'm starving." I replied.

"Let's grab some food and I'll show you one of my favourite places to go to when I have nothing to do and no responsibilities." he said.

"Sure, let's go." I say with a huge smile on my face.

We go into the tower and we grab our favourite food and water. Aden grabs my hand and leads me to the dinning room and we sit down. We eat mostly in silence until he speaks.

"The rooftop has an amazing view of the city. We just need to climb to the top in order to get there." he said.

"I can handle that. Are there any stairs that I don't know about?" I reply

"No, there's a ladder in the tower we need to sneak to in order to get on the roof, which is why we're eating in here instead of up there."

"Why isn't it accessible to everyone?" I question.

"Heda says that's where special ceremonies happen."

"What kind of ceremonies?"

"Union ceremonies. But not just any union ceremony, it's where Heda's unite with their partner forever."

"Do you think Heda will unite with Clarke?"

"I know they will, Octavia has guaranteed that it will be within a year."

"How does she know that?"

"She has seen them together than we have. I think they're perfect for each other."

"Can we go to the roof now? I'll ask more questions up there."

"Sure, let's go Ontari."

Aden leads me to the ladder which is located at the back of the tower and off limits. We manage to sneak into the room where the ladder is without being noticed. As soon as I close the door behind me, I look up and see how far the ladder goes up for.

"How long will it take to get up there?" I ask.

"Depends how fast you go, usually around 30 minutes."

"I'm always up for a challenge, let's get climbing."

After climbing for 30, we finally arrive on the rooftop. There are a few chairs and a table up here. I look up and see the city and the trees on the outskirts of the city. It's beautiful up here.

"We're right on time, here sit down." Aden says.

"On time for what?"

"Look over there." he says as he points at the sunset.

"I didn't know you were such a romantic."

We sit down and we look at the sunset together. After about 25 minutes Aden speaks.

"I need to tell you something, Ontari."

"What is it?"

"I'm in love with you Ontari. When I first saw you I didn't think that anyone so mesmerizing could even exist. I really want to be with you."

"I love you too Aden and I want to be with you too."

He leans in a kisses me which then turns into making out for 30 minutes before we each return to our rooms and call it a day.
