My special day was here. The first day of high school! I had been waiting for this one day for years.
High school...this single word might make some people crunch their noses and wrinkle their foreheads but for me, it was a great accomplishment. High school, this one word made me feel so much of who I am. A human. An ordinary human.
I was just 14 and a half years old. And the funny thing was that my brothers were vampires while I was just a normal human, not that I minded being one.
Humans had very stupid theories about vampires, that they were scared of garlic and they didn't have a reflection or that they couldn't walk in Sunlight. It was all fake. Vampires did have a reflection and they could walk under Sunlight and they were definitely not afraid of garlic.
My mother was a human before she turned so it somehow answered why I was a human. It was rare but not impossible. After all, when you're living with vampires, the thin line between fantasy and reality gets a little foggy.
My parents had passed away in a rebel, making me an orphan but my brothers brought me up like their own child so I never felt unloved. If I was never dependent on them, I definitely never felt like my biggest support system was gone.
However, my brothers often joked that I also had some vampire traits like high temperament and intense feelings but I definitely knew it was very human.
I was awake since 4 am and right now it was 6 in the morning. I was getting way too bored, so I decided to have some me-time before going to school.
I forced myself to get up. I rushed to the bathroom and took a shower. Then I changed into my clothes.
I wore a white, sleeveless, lace top with a light blue kimono cardigan that reached my thighs. Then I came outside and wore my white converses, slipped my bag pack on my shoulder, and slowly opened my bedroom's door.
I checked if somebody was up as I shifted my eyes from right to left. Satisfied that all area was clear, I silently went downstairs. I creaked opened the main door and went away in the forest.
I went into the Dark Forest. That was what everybody used to call it. It was because many people died here and none of those people died a natural death.
It was a mystery for the outside world and the only question popping in their minds was "How?"
But of course I knew, it was because of those Vampires and Werewolves. But I was scared of none of them. Somehow I knew that they wouldn't ever dare to do anything to me. It was stupid the way I was so confident against them. Though I was only a human.
Well, I found my spot and sat there, between those peaceful trees and refreshing leaves. I loved it when the Sun's Rays tried to make their way through the trees as the scene gradually started changing, showing that the warmth of the Nature was welcoming the people.
So yeah, The Dark Forest wasn't dark anymore.
It was my favorite place because the silence here was so complete with a very warm darkness and this strange sense of safety. Though, these trees had witnessed many painful screams and soaked countless tears.
They were always an inspiration for me because after all of this, they were still standing there, firmly, looking unshakable.
And then I remembered, only an hour was left till my school started.
