Leila's POV

The noise of the bell chimed through the whole school indicating the class was over.

I made my way out of the classroom as I heard everyone chattering and laughing all along the corridors.

Emily and I had a free period together. We both were to submit our leaves today because it was Monday and on this Saturday, Alex and Anna were to carry out The Vampire Mating Ritual.

It was basically a ceremony in which the vampire and his mate had to solemnly drink each other's blood as a sign that they had accepted each other.

Gross.

This year, I convinced both of them to do it. At first, they were like it might be too early but I told them that they had to do it one day so why not today.

Well, Emily and I had decided to meet at the canteen after this period and from there, we would head towards The Principal's Office to submit our leaves.

I reached canteen and saw her. I motioned my head towards The Principal's Office's direction. She came towards me and then we left.

"Leila, do you think she'll grant us the leave?" Emily asked as we were on our way.

"Yeah. She will, I guess. She doesn't have a reason to reject our leaves, right?" I asked confidently.

Em sighed. I knocked on Miss Brown's Office.

"Come in." She replied through the door.
Emily and I entered her office.

"Sit down, please." Miss Brown offered us and we sat.

Miss Brown was in her late thirties. She was quite professional and kind. Strict when needed but generally generous.

"Good Morning, Miss Brown." We greeted.

"Well, look who's here. Greetings Misses. Is there something I can help you with?"
She asked with a weak smile.

It was weird how Miss Brown lived in 21st century and yet talked as if in the 19th century.

"Actually Ma'am, I have a very important family event and since Emily is my best friend, she has to help me. It's a very important event and there's no way we can miss it. Only some days are left and we wondered if you could please grant us a leave for a week."

I explained taking my time.

"Hm, you both very well know that after 4 weeks from now, your Monthly Tests will be held and if I grant you the leave, you both will be left with only 3 weeks. But, since you both are getting very good grades, I can grant it but not until you and your families take the responsibility of your results and assure us that you both will complete all your missed assignments within one week after your leave."

"Yes, sure Ma'am." I replied

"We've brought our applications with us. Leila's is signed by her guardian and since my parents are not here, I have their contact number so you could confirm."

Emily said while Miss Brown put her glasses on and she handed over our applications to her. Miss Brown leaned on her chair and hummed.

"Well, I'd be glad if both of you could wait here till I make the confirmation call."

"Sure Ma'am." Emily replied.

Miss Brown called and walked to the other side of the room.
