"Whoever is trying to bring you down, is already below you."

Zack's POV

"Can I ask you something?" I asked her.

At first, she seemed a little afraid but soon covered it.

"Yeah." She casually replied.

"Is everything going right between you two?" I asked her straightforwardly.

"Who two?" I knew she was just playing innocent.

My expressions grew stern as I replied, "You and Sean."

"Perfect. What could possibly go wrong between us? I mean other than this whole relationship which is entirely a mismatch, what can be worse? It's not like Sean will eat me alive." She kept on ranting with an accusative tone, "Practically he can, he bites."

Utter surprise took over me as I asked, "Why this hesitation?"

"So what do you expect?" I knew it was her fake anger so I just raised my eyebrow.

"I don't know why's everyone acting like this?" I still couldn't reckon what she was trying to say, "I mean if you've finally got what you wanted, why so drama?"

"And what did we want?" I asked suspiciously, ignoring her last statement.

"Sean to adopt me!" She fired back.

"What?" I wasn't just bewildered, I was also hurt. This kind of thinking could only be after lots of overthinking.

"And now everyone's like, 'You okay?', 'Is everything fine?'
Even if there is something wrong, I'd rather talk to my school's security guard than tell you guys. The least he does is listen to me."
She was physically yelling at me like I had done something really awful to her when actually, all I had done was let her be with her mate.

She continued while fuming, "Here, I'm not even allowed to share my thoughts honestly. All I'm allowed to do is go on vacation with my mate."

My jaw dropped, with nothing leaving but astonishment.

"We ask you because we care about you, we love you! Your school's security guard might listen to you but I'm damn sure he doesn't tell you what's wrong and what's not! And, hell yeah! He's your mate! Where's the problem?" I replied with an equal or maybe more outrage.

Now, it was her turn to be stunned.

What?

I breathed heavily. Not from the force but the anger I felt.

After recovering from her haze, she yelled, "Still!" And with that, she jerked her face the other way.

Wow. I salute her.

"Yeah yeah, just blow off each other's head. Only that's left." Anna walked into the room while praising us.

"I would have loved to warn you about neighbors being disturbed but since we don't have them, we are being disturbed!" Anna said. More like scolded us.

Honestly, sometimes, Anna sounded so different than her usual self. She was generally this kind girl who could only let out sweet things.

"Anna, Leila's gone crazy. She's been thinking too much, lately."

I wasn't one of the sloppy friends, who were always ready to complain but right now, we were talking about Leila's thick skull and her way of thinking was very weird.
