Because of what Clarke had decided to do before going to meet the Grounders, she ruined everything. Guards armed with guns were on watch 24/7 around the wall, and it was harder for me to get free from the camp.

To make matters worse, the morning after they found Murphy outside of the walls, a type of hemorrhagic fever swept through the camp. During the panic and people beginning to cough up blood, I separated myself from them as far as I could by climbing into a tree.

Going as high as I could, I watched from above as the people below were running to and fro while rounding up the sick. Sighing, I sat on the branch and tried to wait it out. Boredly sitting up in the tree, I kept myself awake for hours, even after night came as more people were becoming sick.

On the second day of the sickness, a loud noise shook the trees and nearly made me fall to the ground. Looking at the sky, it felt as if my heart had stopped as a mushroom cloud was rising from the treetops in the distance. 'What have these idiots done?'
