Chapter 6: Confessions

Chresanto 

I was at the hall helping set up for my dad's birthday I needed to get out of the house for a few. My girlfriend was quiet all day for some reason and I felt weird so I just left. I helped set some of the tables. Patrice being a perfectionist and wanted everything to be perfect. One second she's helping with food then the next she's decorating tables. She was all over the place it was driving me crazy.

"Patrice don't you think you need to take a break, you've been here since 9am it's now 1 you can sit down you know" I insisted

"You're right honey I think I'm gonna over work myself" she sighed sitting down wiping her forehead." I smiled as I placed the centerpiece in the middle of the table.

"You know your dad invited Cori" she cheered
"WHAT NO ! That's not a good idea" I whined sitting down on the closet chair

“Why not?” she asked

“Because we don’t go out anymore and it's gonna make my girlfriend upset and I don’t want any drama at dad's party” I explained rubbing my temples.

"We'll we always liked Cori better, he loves that girl like she's his own and plus we thought it would be perfect for y'all to catch up" she explained 

"No, we already caught up and plus just no she can't come" I argued placing my hands on my head and tilting back.

"What's wrong honey usually when Cori comes to events you glow up now you don't want her to go what happened? Did y'all argue?" She asked sitting up walking over to me

"No it's just Lorielle is pregnant? I sighed 

"Aww I'm gonna have a grand baby" she cheered 

"Yeah it's jus-" 
"You're not excited to be a father" she raised a brow
"Yeah I want to be a dad but not now , I don't want her to be the mother of my children I mean at first when Cori and I broke up I moved on but then when I saw her at the wedding all of my feelings came back strongly and I know it would kill her if she found out so that's why I don't want her to come " I explained

"Wow son you have a lot on your plate but the baby is already here you can't do much about it but if you love her you will be honest with her and tell her and if Cori loves you she'll make amends to the big change. It may be hard for her, but you should go with your heart. I can tell you're deeply in love with Cori over Lorielle" she said rubbing my back

"Yeah you're right Patrice I don't want to be with Lorielle but now she's pregnant so I can't just leave her" I sighed

"You be there for your child “she smiled getting up "I'm gonna go to the car and get these presents from the back " she said


Cori

I still didn't feel good but I decided instead of intending the party I'll just drop it off and then leave that way I don't have to see Chres and his girl. It'll be quick and simple; I dragged my way to the bathroom to take a shower. I figured I'll go to the sports store in get him a jersey he's a big fan of the Yankees.  He always talked about how he wanted a jersey. After I got out the shower I threw on a tee and sweat pants. I walked to the kitchen and took my pills then I walked out to get in the car.

I was walking into the mall and I heard a lady call me "Cori" she shouted I quickly turned around and saw Brianna wobbling towards me with a man. Oh shit Brianna is knocked up who knocked this loose girl up I thought in my head.

"Hey Brianna how are you?  I smiled
"I'm good you know this baby is killing me" She explained 
"Yeah I can see umm congratulations" I smiled. She looked at her boyfriend "Hey baby can you get me a pretzel please I'm hungry" She asked I watched him walk over to the food court.

"Look Cori I just want to apologize for being a bitch and nuisance when you were with Chresanto" Yeah" I laughed. “I just hated the fact that he chose you over me and I was mad at you because of pure jealously but I don't blame him I was all over the place. I wish my mom taught me how to be a lady "'she choked

“Wow Brianna, Thank you so much I appreciate and I accept your apology” I said

"And I'm sorry for calling you all of those things and being insensitive about your situation and all of those fights and dumb shit I did" she went on

"You know you live and learn I played a part in it too but I do appreciate it and I wish you and your? I asked
"Husband " she smiled
"I wish you and your husband the best" I smiled

"Thank you same to you " she smiled hugging me

I was shocked after all these years Brianna and I talked like two civilized women despite the day I comforted her when she was assaulted. I walked in the store and went to the counter.
"Hello ma'am how may I help you? 
"Do you have a Yankees jersey in an extra large?” I asked he looked behind him
"Matter of fact we do" he said grabbing the stick to get it from the very top of the display
"I'll take it" I smiled grabbing and paying for it. When I left the mall I headed back home to get dressed even though I'm not staying at the party I have to look decent.

I was just about done fixing my hair I threw on some black jeans, a cream blouse, leather jacket with my leather I placed his gift in a bag and I was ready to go. When I arrived there it was nicely decorated it was big I tried looking for Mr. Carl. I wanted this to be quick as possible in there and out. I brushed past Chresanto and his girl they seemed to be having a nice conversation. I waved at Caleb and he waved back taking a double look at me I forgot he hasn't seen me in forever. I finally saw Mr. Carl he was over there by the food of course. "Happy Birthday Mr. Carl" I cheered waiting for him to turn around. He looked up and turned around at me with a surprised look on his face. 
"Cori is that you? He asked smiling
"Yes" I laughed handing him his gift.
"I almost didn't recognize you there and what's this? He asked digging the bag "Ohh you got me a jersey and a cigar" he laughed "You know I love these cigars, I swear I rather have you as my daughter in law instead of Lorielle she's a blonde in a black girls body I swear" he snickered


"Aww thanks Mr. Carl , I just came to drop this off I have to get going " I explained digging in purse for my keys


Chresanto 

I was having a conversation with my girl I looked up and saw Cori talking with Mr. Carl I figured she was stopping by to give him a gift or something they walked out of the hall into the lobby where I could still see them.  I didn't know if I should go over there and say hi but it wouldn't be a good idea because my girl would be mad. I noticed her hand was shaking something she does when she doesn’t feel well. I peeped her try to fight the urge and I peeped her placing her hand over her head. At this moment I was on the edge of my seat I felt like she was about to faint or something and just like that she fell to the floor. I jumped up from my seat leaving Lorielle behind.
