CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW

     NEXT MORNING💓 (Just some fiction)

I woke up and looked to my left. Tony was gone. I didn't recall him saying that he was going to be gone this morning but at least I had a day to myself with Cai. Bathroom bla bla. I then went downstairs because I wanted to make sure that Tony locked the door before he left to go somewhere. As I went down the stairs and walked towards the front door, I saw Tony standing at the counter looking very upset. I closed my robe and looked over at him. "I thought that you left." I said as I moved a piece of hair out of my face. "No. I didn't." Tony said as he had his hand on his head and looked at a piece of paper. "What's that?" I said as I went over towards him and tried to look at the paper. "None of your business." Tony said as he  pulled the paper away from my reach. "Tony....you didn't have to-" I said as I started to look concerned. "Cheryl, get out of my face right now. I'm stressed and I'm trying to get this stuff together." Tony said as he moved away from me. "What is it? I'm here to help you." I said as I looked at him. Tony was quiet and started to cry. "It's my dad. This is his last letter before he died. They just called me and said that he died two days ago." Tony said as he looked down at his letter. "Baby, I'm so sorry to hear that." I said as I came over towards him to give him a hug. Tony moved away from me. "I'm fine." He said as he put the letter down on the counter. "Are you sure?" I asked him as I reached for his hand. "Yes, I am sure! Didn't I say that I was fine?!" Tony yelled as he looked at me. "Tony. Stop yelling. I know that you're upset but you don't have to yell, okay?" I said as I looked at him. "You know what. I'm tired of you. I'm tired of trying. I'm tried of fighting. Every time, I get let down. Now my dad is gone. Everything is falling apart and I can't do anything about this." Tony said as he looked away. "I know Tony but-" I said before he cut me off. "But what? You really think that our marriage is going to get better? You really think that all of this will just disappear and we will be one big happy family with no problems? No. Get out of the freaking clouds and think. I wish that we never even married each other. The only good that I've ever received out of you was my daughter. Everything else was horrible." Tony said as he looked at me. "You don't mean that." I said as I looked away and my eyes started to water. "Yes, I do. I'm not even just saying it because of the news that I just received. I meant it. Every last bit of it." Tony said as he looked upset. "I knew that I should have left you the other night." I said as I started crying. "Leave. All I have to say is that Cai is staying here with me. I don't care where you go. All I care about is Cai." Tony said angrily. "I will leave and Cai is going with me. I'm her Mother and wherever I go, she goes." I said as I walked away from him. "Ummm, no the hell she's not. She's staying right here." Tony said as he grabbed my arm. "Let me go so that I can get my things and my child. You said that you're done, so I'm done." I said as I looked at him and tried to pull from him grip. "Who in the hell do you think that you're talking to?" Tony asked me as he let me go. "You. I'm not scared of you, Tony. Let's get real." I said as I made my way upstairs to my baby's room. "Come on, Baby. Let's go somewhere right quick, okay?" I said as I picked Cai up out of the bed and put her down. "I'm going to get a few of your things. You can pick out a few toys or whatever. Just hurry." I said as I rushed to out her things in a bag. "Mommy, where are we going?" Cai asked me. "Baby, we are going to grandmas for the day. That's all. Sleepover? You down with that? Grandma would love that wouldn't she?" I said as I smiled and bent down to put Cai on a different shirt. She smiled. Tony stood in Cai's bedroom doorway. "So, you're really trying to take my child?"  Tony said in a calm voice and looked at me with an upset facial expression. "We need to go." I said as I tied Cai's shoes. "Cai, take your shoes off, baby girl." Tony said as he looked at her feet. "But Mommy said that we are going to grandmas for a sleepover. I wanna go with her." Cai said in a whinny voice. "No, baby. Daddy says another time, okay?" Tony said as he smiled a fake smile. I looked at Tony and then stood up straight. "Move Tony. I'm taking Cai with me." I said as I looked at him. "And I said no the hell you're not. She's not going any damn where." Tony said as he looked at me and crossed his arms. "Stop cursing in front of her. I'm not trying to argue with you. You're tired, I'm also tired, okay?" I said. "Cheryl, you can get your ass out of here. Like I said, she's not going anywhere with you." Tony said as he looked at me. "Stop cursi-" I said but then he cut me off. "Don't tell me what to do. That's another thing about you. You act like you are in charge of shit. You're not." Tony said. I looked over at Cai and I could see that she was being hurt by all that was happening. "Cai, baby- are you ok?" I asked her. She ran over towards me and hugged my waist as she cried. I looked up at Tony and back down at Cai. Tony was silent. "Go." He said as he looked at the both of us. I just walked past him and grabbed Cai. "Ok, baby. Ummm, go downstairs and I'll be down in a second." I said as I went in my room to then get my stuff. Tony just watched me the entire time. He meant what he said earlier. He basically said that he didn't want to be married to me anymore. Maybe he said those things because he was hurt in the moment about his dad but I knew he meant it. Now, I'm going to move out. It's the best for me and for this "marriage". There's nothing between us anymore. He admitted it and I'm kinda happy that he did.  "So, you are just gonna leave me straight up like that?" Tony asked as he watched me put my stuff away. "What are you talking about? You just told me to go more than once, so that's what I'm going to do." I said  "ok. Just know that I'm coming to get my child tomorrow." Tony said as he looked at me. "Whatever, Tony." I said as I put my hand up and finished packing. I zipped up my things and hurried downstairs. "Ok, baby. Come on." I said as I held her hand and made my way outside. I didn't wanna go to my moms house but I had to for the night. I didn't have any other place to stay and tomorrow I'll be looking for another home for Cai and I. I can take care of us and I damn sure don't need a fucked up man to depend on. I can live without him either way it goes and that's something that I know burns Tony. He knows that I'm a hard working and independent woman that gets her shit done. Now it's time for me to get my shit done without him. Other woman have left their husbands before and I'm damn sure that I can too. The one thing that I know for a fact that Tony isn't going to back down about is Cai. He will fight for her and I can't let him have her all to himself. Knowing him and his selfish ways over the years- he's gonna come tomorrow unhappy and willing to take her. I buckled Cai into her seat. As I turned around Tony was standing behind me. "You scared me." I said as I jumped. "Let me say see you later to my daughter." Tony said as he looked at Cai. I moved out of the way and went to go get into the drivers seat. "Hey, Baby girl! Daddy will come and get you tomorrow, okay?" Tony said. I just rolled my eyes. The broken house has already begun. "Yes, Daddy. See you tomorrow." Caiya said in her sweet voice. I started the car. Tony closed the car door and stepped back. He smiled at Caiya and Cai smiled back. I then drove off...hopefully, I'll never to come back to him. As I continued to drive, Caiya started to look sad. I looked at her through the rear view mirror. "What's wrong, baby?" I asked her. "Why couldn't Daddy come with us? There's enough room for him and he would enjoy the sleepover too." Cai said as she looked at me with her sad eyes. I sighed. "Baby, Daddy needs some time to himself right now. Plus, this sleepover is for us girls only. Daddy will come next time, okay?" I said to her. "But I'm going to miss him." Cai said as she looked down and played with a toy in her hand. "I know, sweetheart. It's just....It's just that- tonight wasn't the night. He misses you too." I said as I stopped at a red light. "Do you miss Daddy already too?" Cai asked me. I saw that the light was green and so I continued on. "Mommy?" Cai said. "Yes?" I said as I looked at her through the rear view mirror again. "You didn't answer my question." Caiya said calmly. I didn't answer that question because I didn't want to lie to my daughter. It seems like that's what I'm going to have to do because I can't say that I don't miss him. "I do miss him, baby. I do." I said as I pulled into the drive way at Ma's house. Cai unbuckled herself and ran to Ma's door. "Cai, stop run-...." I said but it was too late. Ma open the door and gave Caiya a big hug. "Hi grandma!" Cai said as she hugged her back and smiled. "Hey!" Ma said. "Hey Momma." I said as I got my things out of the car. "Hey-.....um, Cai- go in the house. I have some pancakes ready." Ma said as she smiled at her. Caiya smiled and went inside. Ma then walked over towards me. "What did he do now?" Ma asked me. I sighed. "He said that he basically regrets marrying me. The only good that he's ever got out of me was my baby. He basically said fuck the rest of me." I said angrily. "Hey! Watch your mouth....respect. I hope you haven't been talking that way around Cai." Ma said in an upset tone. I was silent. "Cheryl! What is wrong with you? It was arguing in front of her and now you're cursing? You do remember her not talking after that last incident, right?" Ma asked me. "Yes. Of course, Ma. I'm trying my best but that man just makes me so upset." I said as I leaned against the car. "Well, try harder. For Cai because this stuff can really get to her. Are you thinking about leaving him forever?" Ma asked me. "I might." I said as I looked down. "That's something that you're going to need to seriously explain to her. Just a little argument made her not want to talk for the longest and who knows what this is going to do to her." Ma said. "You're right." I said as I started to cry. "Cai is going to be alright and you are too. Where are you staying?" Ma asked me. "Here." I said. "I meaning, where are you going to live if you leave him?" Ma asked me. "I'm not sure. I just-.....I'm trying to take one day at a time, okay?" I said. "Alright. I'm going back inside to talk to Cai and feed her." Ma said as she started to walk off. "Ok." I said as I wiped my tears. I took our things and went into the guest room upstairs. Before I went upstairs, Cai called me. "Mommy! Look, I have a pancake." She said as she smiled. I laughed a small laugh. "I see. Eat your breakfast, okay?" I said as I went upstairs. I put the things to the side and laid down on the bed. I took a deep breath because so much has happened today. My phone started ringing. In my mind I already knew who it was, so- I didn't bother looking at the contact name. I just answered. "What in the hell do you want, Tony?" I said in an upset voice. "Wow. Ummm, it's Shemar, beautiful." Shemar said in a confused voice. "Oh. I apologize, Shemar. I thought that you were my husband." I said as I put my hand on my head. Shemar laughed. "It's okay. Everything going alright?" Shemar asked me. I was silent. "It isn't." Shemar said. "You're right. I'm leaving Tony, Shemar." I said as I turned on my side and faced the door. "Where are you right now?" Shemar asked me. "At my mom's house." I said. "He just let you go? What about Cai? Is she with you?" Shemar asked. "Yes, but he didn't want her to come. He said that he's coming by to get her tomorrow. And, of course he just let me go. He doesn't want me." I said in a soft voice. "I'm coming to get you and Cai." Shemar said. "No, Shemar. I'm fine, trust me." I said as I sat up in bed. "No. No. I have an extra house and you two can stay there as long as you need to. You don't have to worry about cleaning or cooking. I have a chef and a maid that does all of that. You're my best friend and you need a place for you and your daughter." Shemar said. "Shemar, that's-.....that's wonderful and kind of you but you're my best friend and I can't stay in your extra house like that. Only because I'm not sure when I will be able to find my own house for us." I said. "Cheryl, stop it. Please, let me do this for you." Shemar said. I thought about it for a moment. "What's the address?" I said. "I'll text it to you. I'll be over there waiting. We need to talk about this Tony mess." Shemar said. "Okay and Shemar?" I said before he could hang up. "Yes?" He said. "Thank you so much." I said. "It's what best friends are for." Shemar said. We then both hung up.
