CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
"Shemar, why are we here?" I asked him as I looked around outside. We were in the middle of a park. All I could see were trees and flowers surrounding the two of us.
I looked at him standing in front of me with a smile on his face. The sunlight hit his face and his eyes so perfectly. I admired his eyes as saw how lighter they had became due to the sun.
"To take your mind off of things. You've got this tour coming up and I want you to be ready. Lay down." He demanded me in a sweet way.
"La-...lay down? See, I'll be damned if I lay down on this dirty ass grass. You've known me for too long, Shemar." I said as I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Hush, best friend. Lay down with me." He said as he grabbed my hand and we both laid down together and looked up at the clouds sitting so softly in the sky. The wind moved some of my hair and we both still had a grip on each other's hand but...didn't know why. I let go and placed my hand on top of my belly button. He looked over at me. I could feel him looking at me.
"Peaceful, right?" He asked as he looked back up at the sky.
"Very." I said as I closed my eyes and smelled the fresh air filled with the sweet smells of the flowers around us. The prickly grass touched the back of my hand as I softly laid them on top of it. I then looked over at Shemar and noticed that his eyes were also closed. He's been my best friend for 9 years so far. I looked at the way his chest softly went up and down as he breathed the fresh air. He then sighed and let out relief. I looked at his eyelids and smiled to myself. He opened his eyes and before he could catch me looking at him, I turned my head and closed my eyes as well. It was silent during that moment. I then peaked a little to see if he was still looking at me or not.
"Caught yah!" He said as he laughed.
"Dammit." I said as I started laughing as well.
"You're always staring at somebody." He said as he raised his arms up and placed his head on them as they rested behind it.
"Whatever." I brushed off and said.
"Cheryl, if I were to die today...would you be sad?" He asked me in a soft voice. I opened my eyes, sat up and looked at him. My face in shock.
"O-...of course, Shemar. Why wouldn't I?" I said as I watched in open his eyes as well. He was silent as he sat up as well. He looked at me and leaned back on his hands.
"Not sure." He said as he looked at the trees in the distance.
"Don-...don't ask me that again, Shemar." I said as I my voice started to crack.
"Sorry, I just wanted to know."
"I would. I love you and you're my best friend. That's a crazy question to ask me." I assured him.
"I'm sorry." He said as his voice got softer. He then grabbed my hand that was next to my body on top of the grass. "I'm not going anywhere."
"You better not and if you do, take me with you. I need my best friend." I told him.
"I couldn't take you with me but I would want you to keep living and keep being your beautiful, caring self. People need you, Cheryl."
"But...they need you too."
"You're right. Anyways, I'm not dying anytime soon, baby girl. You know this." He said as he laughed a small laugh. I didn't find this conversation to be funny at all. I hit his arm.
