CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
THE NEXT DAYI walked into the kitchen to find Tony making lunch and relaxing since it was his day off. Caiya didn't go to school today but she will be going tomorrow.
"Hey, Tony." I said as I walked into the kitchen and got me something to drink. "Hey, babe." He said as he looked up at me. As I poured me something to drink, I thought about whether or not I should talk to Tony about this. Maybe I should, since it is our baby girl. "Tony....I think that Cai is a little bit confused. She's been asking me questions and I feel like we need to talk to her more about everything." I told him. Tony didn't say anything. He continued what he was doing and then he took a deep breath. "Well, you're right but the thing is- our baby is only six. Of course she's not gonna understand and I told you Baby that she will start asking questions." Tony said as he stopped what he was doing to look at me. "I know but it's kinda worrying me. How are we to explain certain things to her if she's not even old enough yet to fully grasp everything?" I asked him. "Maybe we can just explain it in a way that a 6 year older would understand it. My thing is- she doesn't need to know everything that's going on right now. Like the things I did in our marriage for example- she doesn't need to know what her Daddy did to her Mommy. Especially irrelevant things that we've already passed over." He said. "Right but I feel like Shemar is the main reason that she's becoming confused." I told him. "And why would you say that?" He asked me. "Because she asked me some questions about him the other day." I told him. Tony then called Cai downstairs. "What are you doing?" I asked him as I made a confused facial expression.
"I'm about to ask her some questions" he said. Cai then walked into the kitchen. "Hey, Daddy's baby girl." Tony said as he came over and picked her up. "Tony. Are you really about to do this? This is exactly what I'm talking about. You're gonna make her even more confused." I told him as I looked at her. "Nah. You brought Shemar into this and now I'm pissed. You just even saying his name makes me pissed the fuck off. So, I wanna see what my baby girl gots to say about this." He said as he looked at Cai and smiled. "Are you really cursing around her right now?" I asked him as I suddenly got mad. I always thought that it was disrespectful of him to do that so when he did it- I got mad. "Cai- what questions did you ask Mommy about Mr. Shemar?" He said as he looked at her. I looked at Cai and I could see that she was lost at what was going on. "I-...I asked her if she liked him." Cai said. Tony then looked over at me. "Oh really? What did Mommy day?" Tony asked her as he looked at her. "She said yes but as friends." Cai said. "You know what, baby? How about you go upstairs and get dressed. You and I are gonna go somewhere. Tony, put her down." I said. Tony then put her down. As Cai left to go upstairs, Tony started back doing what he was doing. "Really?" I asked him as I gave him a look. "Really what? You didn't tell me that he was the reason that she was asking questions." Tony said. "I know but you didn't have to cross the line and curse like that. You and I are having an adult conversation. You were wrong for calling her down here. You're the reason that she's even more confused. Now she's gonna be questioning whether or not I told the truth about liking him only as a friend." I explained. "Hell....I would be too. I've been questioning it." He then said. "I'm not about to deal with you right now, Okay?" I said. "Yeah, walk away. I told you that I trusted you and I do. Now that Cai is saying shit about it- maybe I'm wrong. Am I?" He asked me. "Look- don't worry about that, Okay?" I told him. "Don't worry about what? Worry about whether my wife and her best friend have been having sex with each other?" He said. I laughed a small laugh. "You're still bringing that up. Let it go. I told you no so believe me." I told him. "I'm trying to believe you but little shit keeps popping up. What am I supposed to think? He's over there talkin' about your birthmark and shit. Like, he knows more than I thought he did. Before we dated and were friends- you didn't tell me that shit. I had to find out but with Shemar you just tell him everything don't you?" He asked me. "Are you jealous?" I asked Tony. "No-......the only think that's messing with me is Shemar. He's the one that's messing shit up. He's been over stepping boundaries and I'm trying to get you to see that, Cheryl. First it was you, and now he's doing mess that's bringing Cai into it. Now you understand why I don't like him." Tony said.
I just stopped and took a breath. I then just walked away from him. I was over it all.
