Cheryl's Point Of View
New York
2:25 p.m"So, how are you?" Inaya asked me. We were both sitting on a bench at the park while we watched our two little girls playing. I held Ciyle in my lap facing me and made some cute little faces at him. He giggled at me.
"I'm good. And you?" I asked as I went back to making my baby boy smile and laugh.
"Ohhhh, you know me. Great as can be." She said sarcastically. I stopped and looked over at her with a confused facial expression.
"So sarcastic! What's wrong, sis?" I asked.
"Bre...her dad is trying to come back into her life. You already know how I feel about that Cheryl."
"Oh Lord. Yes, I do. What has he been saying?" I asked her as I looked up at the two girls now sliding down the slide together.
"He wants to try to share custody with me now. Cheryl...he's not fit." Inaya said as she reached over and grabbed Ciyle's hand.
"......wow. Why is he so eager to come into her life now?" I asked her as I waved at Cai. She waved back and smiled.
"I don't know and that's what's bothering me. You should see how he lives. So horrible. I don't want my baby to go anywhere near that man. She asks about him all the time, you know? It kills me to tell my own child that she can't see her Daddy because he's off doing something ridiculous." Inaya said in a disappointed tone.
"I don't blame you, sis. Like- maybe-....I'm not sure but I do know that it's probably hurting Bre to know that she can't see her Father. Maybe you should sit down and talk to her about it." I assured her as I gave Ciyle a kiss on his forehead.
"It would hurt though and that's what I'm not ready to do- talk to her about it. She's too young. But-...." She said but she was cut off by Bre and Cai running up towards us.
"Mommy, can we get something to drink?" Bre asked Inaya.
"Sure, baby." Inaya said as she gave the both of them the juice boxes that we brought along with us. They then ran away and went back to playing.
"Girls! Be careful!" I yelled.
Inaya slightly laughed. "They just love being around each other." She then said as we continued to watch them play. I nodded my head and slightly smiled.
"You're right. They have that same bond that we have- I look at them and I see us in a way." I added. "Don't worry, Inaya. She'll be fine."
"I hope so but-....I don't want him around her until he gets himself together." She told me.
"He will. Let's just hope."
"So, what do you have going on now? You already know that I'm working on some new music but- you never told me what you've gotta poppin'..." Inaya told me.
"Uh...well, I did get this offer to be in another play but...I'm not sure about it."
"Why not? You love acting and you're damn good at it soooo?...."
"My babies....remember?" I reminded her as I gave Ciyle something to play with. "You know me. My life isn't about me anymore- it's about them." I added.
"Like we've all been telling you- your happiness matters too." Inaya said.
"Yeah but...the last time I've been involved in a play- I found out that my husband was cheating on me."
