CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
Cai and I had just made it to my Mom's house after we spent a few hours at the park. I'm happy that we had that Mommy and Daughter time to just talk and more. Seeing her smile, run and play today made me feel happier. Recently, I haven't been that happy nor excited about anything but there's something about being around my babies that makes me smile the biggest smile ever. Lord knows that they are literally my heart and that's why I want to do what's best for them at the end of all of this.
"Cai, did you have fun at the park?" Ma asked Cai as Cai ran over towards her to give her a big hug. I smiled at the two of them as I closed the front door behind me.
"Yes." Cai said as she stopped hugging her.
"Yes....?" Ma said as she raised her eyebrow at Cai.
"Yes ma'am." Cai said as she started blushing a little bit and looked back at me.
"That's right, baby girl. Do you have all of your things ready? Daddy should be here in just a few." I said as I touched the top of her head.
"My stuff is upstairs." Cai said as she looked up at me.
"Alright, do Mommy a favor and go upstairs to get them for me." I said as I leaned down to kiss her forehead and watched her run away afterwards.
"She looks happy." Ma mentioned as we both watched her go upstairs.
"Yeah...." I said as I started walking into the kitchen. Ma followed.
"What has Tony been saying?" She asked me as I opened the refrigerator to grab a water bottle.
"Uhm, she's just been sad and stuff about me being gone. That's pretty much all. That's why I took her out today and tried to talk to her. At first, she didn't really wanna talk to me but I eventually got her to talk to me." I said as I cracked open the top and took a sip.
"Cheryl, you need to do something soon. She's suffering because of you not being able to make up your mind. When you told me about....Shemar asking you to marry you? I didn't know what to think of that Cheryl and you even put the ring on!"
"Ma, now that-....that's what we aren't gonna talk about." I said as I put the top back on the water bottle and put it on the kitchen counter.
"I'm just saying, Cheryl. Cai needs to have her Mother there with her at all times." Ma assured me.
"I know, Ma. I-...I just need a day or two to figure out what I need to do. I'm not even just thinking about myself at all. I'm mostly thinking about my children and how it's gonna make them feel. I don't want them to go through saying "Daddy's House" or "Mommy's House"....it's just-...it's not what I planned for them."
"You just gave up on your husband." Ma said as she pointed her finger at me. I shook my head and just looked away from her harsh facial expression.
"He gave up on me too, Ma! You don't know what goes on entirely, okay?" I said as I lowered my voice to a whisper.
"Cheryl, Tony is your husband- go back to him!" Ma said. "You messed up big time with him and I don't like how this is going-...." Ma said but she stopped talking once she saw Cai walking into the kitchen.
"My stuff is ready. Where's Daddy?" Cai asked as she looked back and forth between Ma and I.
"Uhm...." I said as I checked the time on my phone. "He'll be here in about 10 minutes." I told her as I looked up from my phone and smiled a small smile at her.
