CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
"This is good." Cai said as she took a bite. "You basically made it yourself." I said as I looked at her. "Yep. A drawer and a chef? Yep, my baby girl has it going on." Tony said as he smiled at Cai. "Cai, how would you feel about getting some art classes?" I asked her. "I would love that." She said in her cute, small voice. "Alright baby. I'll sign you up so that you can go ahead and start. You're really good too. When did you really start liking to draw? Do you remember?" I asked her. "No." She said as she stood up and took her plate into the kitchen. "I don't know either but she's good. That's all I know." Tony said as he stood up and picked up his plate. "You done?" He asked me. "Oh, yeah but I got it." I said as I stood up and picked up my plate. Tony walked over towards me. "Oh no. Let me take it. You've already done a lot as it is. Just chill, babe." He said as he waited for me to hand him the plate. I was silent. I then gave him the plate. He then kissed me on the cheek and left out of the dining room. I don't know what it is but Tony is really helping me out so far. Honestly, I'm happy that I didn't have to bring it up but....just knowing that he thought about me and how I was feeling. The old Tony didn't do that. He never did. Now I guess he's just trying to help out more. "Cai." I said as I walked into the kitchen. "Yes, Mommy?" She said as she stood on her tippy toes to put the plate in the sink. "Come on, baby. I'm gonna make you some bath water. It's getting kinda late." I said as I motioned my hand for her to come here. "Need any help?" Tony asked me. "I got it, baby. Thank you though." I said as I watched Cai walk towards me. I then put my hand on her head and she then walked past me to go upstairs.
UPSTAIRS IN CAI's ROOM
"Mommy, can I wear this tomorrow?" She asked me as she held up the shirt to show me. "It looks pretty decent. Sure." I said as I smiled at her. "I have a question." She said in a sweet voice and looked down at the shirt. "What is it?" I asked her as I sat on her bed. "Are you happy that we are back home.....with Daddy?" She asked me. "Of course I am." I said as I looked at her. "Why did we leave at first?" She asked me as she walked over towards me. "Uhm, well- Baby, that's nothing that really matters anymore. That was nothing that should have concerned you." I said as I grabbed one of her hands. "But it seemed like Daddy really didn't want me to go with you and he looked upset too." She said. "Cai, don't worry about it, Okay? We are back home, right?" I asked her. "Yes..." She said as she looked at me. "Okay baby, I'm about to go run your water and you just find your pajamas." I said I kissed her forehead and stood up. She started to find her pajamas. As I was walking down the hallway to the bathroom- I kept thinking about Cai's questions. The last thing I want my baby to do is be confused about her Mother and Fathers marriage. All of this break and space stuff has really made her think about what Tony and I have going on. I really don't like telling her about the stuff that goes on. Not only because she's young but because she just wouldn't understand. All that honestly matters is that we are back home and a family again. I'll do anything to make Cai happy. It's just hard explaining these things to her because I'm afraid that I will say something that will make her look at our family different. I grew up with both of my parents in one household- I also told myself that I would do the same for my children because I know how important that is. I hate broken houses. That's not something that I want my babies to endure. At all.
AFTER CAI's BATH
"Tony, can you please tuck Cai in?" I asked him as I walked into our room. "Uh, sure. Is she already dressed?" He asked me. "Yes." I said as I put my hand over my head. "You okay?" He asked me. "Yeah, just a little tired. I've been sleepy more often lately." I said. "Ok, well- you can go shower or whatever you need to do and I'll take care of Baby girl." He said as he kissed my cheek and left out the room. "Okay Baby." I said as I turned to watch him leave. I then turned back around and got my things together.
TONY's POINT OF VIEW
"Hey, Daddy's baby girl." I said as I walked into Cai's room. She smiled so big. She loves it when I call her that. "You ready for bed?" I asked her as I picked her up and groaned because she is getting so tall and big. "Yes." She said as she kissed my cheek. "Aww, so sweet. Thank you for my kiss." I said as I laid her in bed. "Tell me a story, Daddy." She said as she pulled the covers up. "Hmmm, Okay." I said as I got on my knees next to her bed. "Well, there was once a beautiful princess. She had a Mommy and a Daddy who loved her so!" I said. "Wait.....did the Daddy have hair or was he bald like you?" She asked as she laughed. "Ha. Ha. You got jokes....the Daddy is me. So, he's bald." I said. She laughed again. I don't understand why that was so funny but I just continued on. "So, the princess always drew these beautifullll drawings. Every drawing she drew.....she healed hearts. Those hearts became beyond beautiful like her. Her fingers were magical and everybody in the city wanted a painting." I said. "That's me. I can draw!" She said as she smiled. "That's right. These painting weren't just ordinary. They were marvelous. The Daddy and the Mommy were very proud of their baby. She was growing up and her drawings got better and better. Mommy even-...." I said before I saw Cheryl in the corner of my eye. "Speaking Of Mommy, there she is." I said as I put my hand out to reach for her. Cheryl walked over and held my hand. "Mommy is beautiful too." I said as I smiled at Cheryl. She smiled back. "Tony, I need to tell you something afterwards, Okay?" Cheryl whispered. "Yeah but why are you whispering?" I asked her. Cheryl pointed towards Cai. She was already asleep before I could even finish the story. "Oh." I said as I kissed Cai on the forehead and stood up.
CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
I walked behind Tony into our room. "Okay baby, what do we need to talk about?" He asked me. I went over to my side of the bed and got in bed. "Cai. She was asking me questions today." I said as I watched him get in bed as well. "Question.....what kind of questions?" He asked. "Why we left." I said. "Oh.....uhm, you didn't explain it to her did you?" He asked . "Of course not. She doesn't need to know that." I said as I got comfortable in bed. "You're right but I mean- she is about to be 6 years old pretty soon. Next month actually. Our baby girl is gonna start asking questions because she's starting to pay attention to us and how we do things. That's why whenever you and I have a disagreement, we don't need to argue in front of her. I'm actually surprised that she hasn't stopped talking again because a while back.....we were slippin'." He said. I moved closer to him in bed and laid my head on his chest. "I mean, you're right." I said as I got comfortable. He then put his hand on my stomach. "I'm so happy to be able to feel this feeling again..." Tony said. "What feeling? My stomach?" I asked him. "Well.....I mean, that too yes but just us. Having my family back and doing the things that I've been needing to do as a man. I've let you and Caiya down. Right now...I'm just trying to make it up to the both of you. Looking back, I can't even believe that I did the things that I did to you. I was just stupid. But now....I can see that you're happy. Happy that I'm better and you're also better." He said as he looked down at me. "I'm sorry again..." He said. I lifted my head up and looked at him. "You don't have to keep saying sorry, baby. Like I said, things happen sometimes. I mean, not every marriage is perfect and trust me....you and I both are far from perfect. Overall, that's okay." I said as I looked into him eyes. "You're right. I'm just happy that I didn't lose the both of you......the three of you." He said as he smiled. "You'll never lose me." I said as I gave him a kiss. He kissed me back.
THAT MORNING
I felt someone tapping my shoulder while I was asleep. I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or what. "Mommy." I heard a voice say. I hurried and picked my head up off of the pillow. It was Caiya, rubbing her eyes and crying. I hurried and tapped Tony. "What's wrong?!" I asked her as I pulled her into me. "What?" Tony said as he jumped up and looked over at us. "I had a bad dream." Cai said as she hugged me. "Aww, baby- come on....get in bed with Daddy and me." I said as I helped her get in the bed between Tony and I. "I thought that something bad had happened." Tony said as he pulled the covers back for Cai to get under them. Cai stopped crying. "Come on. Both of you scoot over." Tony said as he waited for us to come closer towards him. Once we were in place and comfortable, he put his arms around the both of us. "No more nightmares." Tony said as he looked at Cai. She then went fast asleep right when everybody was snuggled under each other. I looked over at Tony and he too was already fast asleep. They both looked so peaceful. I love my family.
