Spider-Man web sling his way through the night and saw a couple thugs by a pickup truck at a train yard near the docks. They dropped a box and they asked, "What's in here that the boss got us deliverin'? And with the extra protection?" Then Joseph Lorenzini, the Hammerhead, showed up and asked, "The Goblin payin' you to ask questions now?" He was wearing a black dress shirt, a red tie, and a dark blue coat and blue pants. Hammerhead was carrying two very large Tommy guns. What was most unique about him was that he had a flat top head that made the two thugs frightened. "N-no, Hammerhead-" stammered one of the thugs. Hammerhead snapped, "Then shaddup. Goblin sez the Spider's comin' after the cat dame and he wants all measures taken to stop him gettin' her." Spider-Man glared at him as Hammerhead ordered, "Now load that box in before I lose my cool." The thugs did what they were told and got inside of the truck. They drove off as Spider-Man went down and declared, "Oh, you're gonna lose your cool, all right." He shot two web lines on the truck as he went skiing after them. The thugs saw Spider-Man and panicked, "It's him! It's Spider-Man!" Hammerhead growled, "Then stop gawkin' and start throwin' lead!" One of the thugs got out of the window and began shooting at Spider-Man. He dodged the bullets as the truck then swerved right and Spider-Man suddenly disappeared. The truck stopped as the thugs looked around to find Spider-Man. "I think we lost him," said the second thug. Hammerhead ordered, "Keep your eyes peeled. You see somethin', shoot first and ask questions never. We're not takin' any chances, read me?" The thug nodded, "Loud and clear, boss." Unbeknownst to them, Spider-Man was in the shadows watching over them.
Hammerhead and the thugs walked into the train yard where they met up with the Enforcers: Montana and Ox.
Montana greeted in his southern accent, "Welcome, boss! We got everything set up for ya..." Hammerhead snapped, "Save it, Montana. No time for gab. I got a real important delivery for Mister Osborn." Spider-Man declared, "That's right, Hammerhead. And I'm going to follow you straight to him." He web zipped to a lamppost as he looked around at the thugs and thought, 'Too many tommy guns for my taste. Better hug the shadows for now. Unless I wanna get full of holes.' Spider-Man shot a few web lines on a thug and pulled him up as Spider-Man put the thug into a web cocoon. Hammerhead said, "Montana, you're with me. We got business to discuss." Montana nodded, "Right, boss." Hammerhead turned to the two thugs and ordered, "You and you, watch my back while we're on the move. Savvy?" The two thugs nodded as Hammerhead turned to Ox and asked, "Ox?" Ox asked, "Yeah, boss?" Hammerhead replied, "Stand there and look stupid. From what I've seen you've had a lot of practice." Hammerhead then began to walk as his underlings followed. He announced, "All right you mutts, listen up! Osborn wants us to be ready for anything. And Mr. Osborn always knows what's best, doesn't he fellas?" The thugs only murmured to each other in confusion. Hammerhead replied, "Yeah, that's right. So let's get to it." Spider-Man stealthily followed them in the shadows as he then saw Hammerhead and his henchmen go to a gate. He ordered, "Let's go, get this door open." Then a couple thugs on the other side of the fence forced a train yard worker to open the gate and walk toward Hammerhead. "Why are you doing this?" asked the worker. Hammerhead answered, "Let's just say that I don't want anyone stickin' their webbed nose in my business." He looked at the thugs and ordered, "The Spider-Man tries to pull a rescue, you grease this stooge. Savvy?" The worker shook with fear as the thug responded, "Right, boss." Hammerhead nodded, "Good. Let's go." Spider-Man thought furiously, 'He should't have brought innocent people into this. Now that just makes me mad.' He then stealthily followed the thug and train worker and webbed up the thug. As he was doing that, Montana asked Hammerhead, "So, what is this thing Osborn's having you deliver?" Hammerhead replied, "I'll tell what it ain't: just a rock. Nah, it's got some kinda powers." Montana asked, "How'dya know?" Hammerhead wondered, "How do I explain it? It's like... it's like it almost talks. Y'know?" The thugs looked at him confused as he continued, "If you listen to it real close, it speaks to you... like a dame. But no dame I ever knew. Cooing, or I dunno... whispering." Ox asked, "Whispering?" Hammerhead nodded, "Yeah. Soft and gentle... and low..." Ox looked at him oddly as Hammerhead noticed and snapped, "WHADDAYA LOOKING AT?!!" Ox stammered, "N-Nothing." Hammerhead muttered, "Guy's looking at me like I'm nuts." Spider-Man had been overhearing the conversation and thought, 'He's not the only one.' Spider-Man went down to the train worker and said, "I need help to get that gate opened." The train worker nodded as he ran to the gate and unlocked the gate as Spider-Man went through.
Hammerhead and his cronies made it to another gate as he ordered, "Get that gate open, you lousy jerks! What do I pay you for!?" A thug nodded, "Yes, sir!" He forced another train worker to open the gate. Hammerhead snapped impatiently, "Come on! What are you waitin' for, Christmas?" The train worker protested, "You can't do this! You have no right!" Hammerhead threatened, "See this gat? That's all the right I need, pally." That scared the train worker into opening the gate and he backed away. Hammerhead ordered the thug, "Anyone else tries to get through, you squirt 'em with lead, get me?" The thug answered, "Yeah boss. You can count on me. I won't let you down." Hammerhead said dryly, "Cut the balloon juice, I get it." Then he and the thugs continued on into the gate. Spider-Man waited until they went away and made his move by stealthily taking down the thugs and freeing the hostage train worker. Then Spider-Man went to continue following Hammerhead.
