The floor crumbled as Spider-Man, Venus Deterzo, and Green Goblin with the Rejects fought off the Machine Men guarded what seemed to a giant rocket. Venus asked, "What is this for?" Green Goblin offered, "How about I check it out?" He turned to Lester and gave him a pumpkin bomb while adding, "Here. A little thank you present." Lester gullibly took it and smiled, "Thanks." Green Goblin flew up and started to analyze it while laughing to himself. Lester realized what it was and threw it toward Lady Ursula and a Machine Man's leg. It blew up the leg and Lady Ursula jerked her speeder bike away from the explosion. More Machine Men arrived as both the Rejects and Machine Men exchange blaster fire.

Venus rushed in superhuman speed up to the missile and coiled her whip around Lady Ursula's speeder bike. The bear Bestial shook the Chimera cat Faunus off as Green Goblin realized, "This missile is wired to blow up the Basement if it gets fired!" Spider-Man was taking care of a couple Machine Men as he asked, "Can you disarm it?" Green Goblin replied, "I'll try, but no promises if you can get these chicos malos off my back!" Lady Ursula tackled him in midair as she growled, "Oh no you don't, Goblin! This missile is property of the High Evolutionary!" Green Goblin struggled with her as the two bumped on a button where a female mechanized voice said, "Targeting Basement. Beginning launch." Green Goblin muttered, "Oh, mierda." Lady Ursula jumped off of him while the winged green and purple hero started falling on the ground. The missile started to launch it went through the ceiling and the debris started to fall toward Venus, Lady Ursula, Machine Men, and the Rejects. Spider-Man slingshot himself toward the missile as Venus screamed, "Tiger!" The web-slinger stuck himself onto the missile as he thought, 'I know persistence is supposed to pay off but this is ridiculous!'

Spider-Man grunted, "Gotta stop the missile before it sets its crosshairs on the Basement!" He spun a web line on the nose and dragged himself toward the nose. Spider-Man went to a control panel and started to quickly reprogram the missile's targeting systems to go back to the facility.

The High Evolutionary was contacted by Lady Ursula again as she alerted, "Sorry to interrupt you again, but we must evacuate!"

Venus watched the Rejects run back underground as she tried to look for the Green Goblin. "Greenie!" cried Venus. "Where are you?! Greenie!" She then saw the missile crashing back as Spider-Man landed next to her. Thinking quickly, Venus grabbed her boyfriend and retreated with the Rejects in light speed. The facility was destroyed in an explosion.

Ten minutes later, Underground...
Pre-Ma welcomed the two heroes and Rejects back as she said, "You were true to your words, Spider-Man and Venus Deterzo. The High Evolutionary and his forces have fled. Now the Reject workers are free in life." Spider-Man asked, "What are you going to do now?" Pre-Ma answered, "We have decided to remain here underground and build our own society. Rather than go up and risk our master who considers us freaks of nature." Spider-Man asked, "You didn't happen to notice a Goblin around here, did ya?" Venus looked down with tears as the mole Bestial replied, "Lost in the missile vapors. Nobody seen your friend since." Venus hugged Spider-Man while crying while the web-slinger comforted her. "There's still room here, Spider-Man," offered Pre-Ma. "Perhaps you and your team would like to join us?" He shook his head as he answered, "No. I have friends who need me to take better care of them than I already have. Stay outta trouble, ya hear?" Spider-Man spun a web line while carrying Venus and swung his way back to the surface while Pre-Ma and the Rejects watched.

Peter and Venus's Apartment, sundown
Johnny Gallo and Nightingale had heard of what happened to the Green Goblin as they joined with Peter and Venus in their grieving. The couple had already finished making their cinnamon French Toast as Venus stuck a fork on her food and murmured, "If only I wasn't too busy with protecting the Rejects, I would've been fast enough to save Hector." Nightingale put a hand on her shoulder as she reassured, "Our friend Hector Jones did not die in vain. He fought a hero, much like Edward Brock during the siege on Vale. Hector helped save the innocent humans and Faunus who would have been destroyed by the High Evolutionary without a second thought." Johnny frowned, "The old geezer is nothing but a cowardly asshole who thinks the world should revolve around his twisted science experiments!" Nightingale looked at him and said, "Jonathan..." He calmed down and apologized, "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to say bad words on the table, but I'm sick of the High Evolutionary and his vision of the world take away another of our friends. What are we gonna tell Gwen?" Peter stood up and answered, "Nightingale's right. We tell Gwen that the man she loved died saving everyone at the Basement. But for now, we stop the High Evolutionary and bring him to justice. Once and for all." Team SVRN nodded their heads in agreement as they raised their glasses of juice and clinked them gently.
