Chapter 27- Deadly Choices Part 3

The Knights of Wundagore were soaring above Grid 7 until they were surprisingly met up by the Rebels in their aerial red truck. "Hey, Sir Leg-A-Lamb!" called Spider-Man. "Have we got a proposition for you." Sir Ram demanded, "What is the meaning of this?" Spider-Man answered, "Let us just say we join forces." Nightingale added, "It is the only possible way to find Git and the bio-container." Sir Ram glared, "You revolutionaries caused this problem in the first place! Will there be an end to your interference? No!" His speeder bike as well as Lady Ursula and Lady Vermin's speeder bikes shot laser beams at them in which the aerial truck dodged and tried to escape. Karen O'Malley gritted, "This was a bad idea!" Ricochet replied, "You think?" It wasn't long until the Knights were already pursuing them and the Rebels were already exchanging blaster fire. "Hold it, hold it!" exclaimed Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider as they used their webs to block the laser cannons from the Knights' speeder bikes. Everyone stopped as Spider-Man stated, "Everyone listen to me. This is bigger than genetic differences. If the failsafe triggers, human, Faunus, and Bestial alike will be blown away. Look, it doesn't matter who got us into this mess. What matters is getting out in time." Daniel Bromley said in disgust, "You can't be serious! Humans and Faunus working with Bestials?! Turns my stomach thinking it does!" Lady Vermin agreed, "That one thing we agree at least." Venus Deterzo reasoned, "Sir Ram, you're a scientist. Do the math. If we work together, we'll more than double our chances." Sir Ram gave it some thought before agreeing, "As much as I hate to admit it, your words make sense. Very well, we will work together on this. Distasteful it may be." Ricochet smiled, "A born negotiator."

Git Hoskins finally sat down on a sidewalk in an empty street.

The Rebels, Knights, and Team SVRN went to a part of the city as Karen explained, "This is one of our main rendezvous sites. This is where we were supposed to meet Git after he had stolen the virus." Lady Vermin sniffed the air and said, "He was here. His scent is faint but unmistakable. He went that way." Bromley smirked, "Always knew she smelled like a rat." Karen smirked as well to which Sir Ram responded angrily, "You are fortunate the time does not allow my contempt for you and all your kind!" Bromley challenged, "You want a demonstration here and now, horn head?!" Everyone started to draw out their guns much to Team SVRN and Scarlet Spider's annoyance. Ricochet got between them and reminded, "Back off, we're not at the playground anymore!" Venus added, "Either we all work together or we all fry!" Everyone put down their weapons as Sir Ram said, "I must reluctantly agree. I would not trust our foes to deal with this problem in the proper manner and on their own." Karen nodded, "That goes double for me. There is a secondary rendezvous point in two miles from here. Git should've gone there."

Git sat down as he remembered what happened after the experimentation.

Flashback to 10 years ago, The Basement
The eight-year-old Git Hoskins tried to befriend some kids after a few days when Doctor Ram turned him into a living mummy. They freaked out, went to taunting and teasing which eventually led to chasing him in an alleyway. Git could only disentangle himself into loose bandages and go through the cracks of floorboards on an alleyway wall.

Present Day
Git angrily blamed Sir Ram for his horrible childhood and ran off to somewhere else.

Team SVRN, Knights, and Rebels met up together in the second rendezvous place where unbeknownst to them Git saw them. He threw a grenade to which Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider, and Ricochet immediately sensed and warned, "Incoming!" They scattered away from the explosion. Bromley predicted, "He must think we've gone turncoat!" Sir Ram pointed out, "He has the bio-container! Retrieve it! I must disarm the bomb!" Lady Ursula declared, "He'll need those bandages more when I'm through with him!" She ran up to grab Git but he disentangled himself but the living mummy dropped the device. Spider-Man shot a web-line and pulled it to his hand, but Git leaped over him and took it. He dashed off and threw a bolo in a fuse box as Bromley exclaimed, "Blimey! He's triggered the destruct switch!" Lady Vermin asked, "What destruct switch?" Bromley responded, "Hit the deck!" They scattered away as a building exploded and the debris buried the truck and speeder bikes.

Bromley started to pick the debris up as Spider-Man began helping. Bromley ordered, "You catch up to Git! We'll catch up when we can." Karen agreed, "He's right. You're the only one who can catch him on foot." Spider-Man began to web sling after Git while everyone started to pull debris off the vehicles.

Git began to climb up on a fire escape as Spider-Man tried to reason, "Git! It's not what you think it is!" Spider-Man crawled up to the wall where he met up with Git. The living mummy tried to escape but Spider-Man managed to wrap his webs on Git and the web-slinger managed to get the container. Soon the Knights, Rebels, and Team SVRN caught up to them. Sir Ram said alarmingly, "We must deactivate it or the code will not work in the final minute!" Spider-Man quickly handed the device to Sir Ram as he began to do the code but it was already too late. "We're too late," gasped Sir Ram. Bromley widened, "In less than a minute, we're all history. Along with the city." Spider-Man retorted, "You give up too quickly, Bromley. We're not done yet." Nightingale picked up the picture of young Git and ripped the webs off of Git. Nightingale said gently, "Git, listen to us. We need your help. The bio-container has a bomb in it. If we do not stop it, the bio-container will destroy everyone and everything." She showed the picture to Git who was exhibiting great sadness. "Think of all the children, Git," said Nightingale. Git walked to Sir Ram as Karen agreed, "She's right, Git. Please." He took the container and used his bandages to deactivate it.

Bromley congratulated, "Goody, Git! You're a hero, lad!" Karen reminded, "Not now, Bromley." Sir Ram stated, "Do not think that after this excesses changes to any way. When we meet again, we're enemies. And you expect no..." Then Git angrily began pummeling Sir Ram for everything he done. Then Spider-Man stopped him as Sir Ram got up and grunted, "As I said, expect no quarter!" Then everyone drew out their guns as Ricochet muttered, "This is not my idea of a happy ending." Team SVRN and Git were in the middle of their shooting ground. Spider-Man groaned, "I can't believe this! Was there a sale on death wishes?!" Venus pointed out, "You guys just saved the whole city by working together! Isn't that enough for one night?" Then Git offered both sides candy as they withdrew. Bromley picked up the container and declared, "We'll be taking this as a souvenir from the evening's festivities. I advise you to go now." Sir Ram disagreed, "Try it human and you may not leave this rooftop alive." Spider-Man took the canister and said, "We're the only neutral party here, so we'll take the canister and see this will be destroyed once and for all." Sir Ram asked, "And how do you intend to safely dispose of the virus completely? Only I know how to safely contain the mutagenic properties." Git took the device and handed it to Sir Ram. "You have my word as a Knight of Wundagore it will be disposed," promised Sir Ram. Then they left without a word.
