Peter and Venus's Apartment, The Next Morning
Peter Parker woke up seeing Venus Deterzo smiling at him and Nightingale analyzed, "Your pupils look good, even if they need disposition. We managed heal your shoulder." He replied, "It feels better now, thanks." Venus asked seriously, "What the heck happened that got you hurt?" Peter answered, "I got caught by a blaster last night. Courtesy of a couple beasties snatching people off the streets. They grabbed one guy in the middle of his grilled cheese sandwich." Venus asked worriedly, "Something's happened to Phil?!" Peter looked at her questionably as Venus explained, "The man who sweeps up for the neighborhood and me. Life's already treated him bad enough. We got to do something!" Nightingale pointed out, "The Resistance and Jonathan are already busy with something he could not tell us about. Plus there is no one who we can contact who cares about what happens to humans and Faunus." Peter reaches for his watch and changed into his Spider-Man suit. "That leaves us to do something about it," declared Spider-Man.The three teammates were driving their aerial pickup truck as they began to follow the spider tracer's signal. Spider-Man looked down to see that the spider tracer was in an alleyway. He guessed, "The heat must've loosen the adhesive." Venus huffed, "So much for that idea." Nightingale pointed to a building that was near the tracer and suggested, "Perhaps we can do exploratory searching in there." The three went to the roof and Venus opened the ceiling window. They saw a small table with empty paper cups, plastic wrappers, and playing cards. Near it was hand shackles on the floor. "Not a camp friendly feeling," said Spider-Man. "No wonder there's no marshmallows." Venus picked up one of the cups and said, "It's still warm. They haven't been gone long." Nightingale figured, "Perhaps the captors waited for a much bigger vehicle to pick them up." Spider-Man looked at the plastic wrappers and read, "Bestial Beauty? An oxymoron in the dome city here. Can't be expected to be condiment company here." Venus agreed, "Yeah, plus the hot dogs are nasty. Yuck!" Nightingale said, "Let us go see if we can find anything regarding Bestial Beauty."
An aerial yellow delivery truck with black cursive writing saying "Bestial Beauty" was flying on its way to a facility where a bird Bestial dressed in a security suit walked over to the garage door and opened it. The truck entered inside as the bird Bestial backed up. The trunk door opened to have several humans and Faunus including Phil inside. "Come on," snapped the bird Bestial. "Hurry it up!" The group walked out as Phil looked around to see caged humans and Faunus deprived of hair and wearing gray robes. He gasped in horror of the mere sight.
Spider-Man, Venus, and Nightingale were on a building across the Bestial Beauty Facility. "If the guards are anything like the ones back home," started Spider-Man. Venus smiled, "Then they'd be busy with a crossword puzzle." The two girls wrapped around Spider-Man as he spun a web line and swung over a gecko Bestial dressed as a guard literally doing a crossword puzzle. Spider-Man bounces off from wall to wall until he stopped. Venus and Nightingale let go until they were stopped by a group of Bestials as one of them asked, "Are ya here for an appointment?" Spider-Man recognized one of them as the hog Bestial who shot him. He did too as he yelled, "Hey, he's one of them twerps last night! Blast him!" The three teammates stood together until Vulture suddenly swooped down and knocked down the hog Bestial. Spider-Man shot a impact web ball and entangled a bird Bestial. Venus coiled her whip around an amphibian Bestial's waist and pulled him over to her as Nightingale kicked him to the wall. Vulture turned to see Spider-Man and said, "All right, bug boy. You served your purpose. Now go home before I pull your bacon out of the fire again." Venus shook her head as Spider-Man replied, "Believe me, I wish I could go home." Nightingale asked, "What do you mean about Spider-Man serving his purpose?" Vulture explained, "I saw you shooting what seemed to be a tracer last night. But when I lost 'em, I waited until you showed up and lead the way." He dragged the unconscious Bestials to an empty closet as Spider-Man asked, "But which one of us are slicker? Me for finding this place? Or knowing I would?" Vulture snapped, "Don't push it, buddy boy! If you three were smart, you'd be happy with what you are. Human and Faunus. Not tricking yourself out as wannabe heroes." Nightingale frowned, "Do you think we deliberately wanted to be covered in these ancient tattoos?" Vulture sighed, "No. I know how unexpected life changes. That's why I can't hurt anymore humans and Faunus."
Flashback, Years Ago, Vulture's POV
I grew up in the upper world at Atlas, just another privileged brat with the usual privileged pals. To my friends, tortured Faunus and homeless humans were like bugs. If they got in your way, ya step on them without a second thought. My buddies didn't know about Cliff. He was our housekeeper's son. We've been hanging together since we were babies. He was my best friend. One night, the gang decided to have a little 'fun' with Faunus and I went along for the ride. I had no idea what they meant to do, but when I found out I knew it was wrong. I didn't have the strength or character to resist. I never saw Cliff again but the look on his face changed my life.
After I burnt down that homeless shelter, I was bailed out. My pops congratulated me instead of punishing me.
Present Day
Vulture concluded, "I vowed to do everything I could to stop human and Faunus suffering. No matter what it took." Spider-Man said, "A lot of folks feel strongly about something, but they don't take it to the streets." Venus asked, "Were there some kind of PCH you could join?" Vulture answered, "I tried that but the situation needs action, not newsletters." Venus nodded and offered, "What do you say we get to the bottom of this?" The three walked as Vulture asked, "We?"
