Chapter 23- Eight Arms Of A Doctor

At Alchemax's Shadow Division Facility
Doctor Serena Patel, aka Doctor Octopus, was busy analyzing what appeared to be a fragment of mystic power. She was scowling of being treated as hired help by Sir Ram and the High Evolutionary because she was disregarded as a human. "It's a wonder Mysterio lasted this long before he got killed by a Grimm Beowolf," muttered Doctor Octopus. "Well, I will no longer have to be hired help by the High Evolutionary and his Knights. With this power emanating from this fragment I'll take over Counter-Vale and reiterate this world into my image."

Team SVRN snuck into Alchemax via an aerial delivery truck. "So, Scorpion was going to bring his fragment to someone here," said Spider-Man. Ricochet nodded, "And we all know who." Venus Deterzo asked, "So she was the one who killed Eddie and my clone?" Nightingale nodded, "Yes, and we mourned for her and you." Venus declared, "Let's go pay the doctor a visit." They snuck pass the guards and went to a computer panel. "Doc Ock is at one of the high security labs," analyzed Spider-Man. "They have security lasers." Venus smirked, "Like that's going to stop us."

Doctor Octopus started to make a note for her log as she said, "Preliminary tests confirm what I've suspected from the beginning. That this artifact is an energy source of almost immeasurable power!" Team SVRN got out of an air vent and began to quietly walk toward her. Doctor Octopus smirked, "Clearly, this calls for provocative measures to prevent it from falling into the hands of..." Then she quickly turned around and entangled Team SVRN with her robotic tentacles. "...RIVALS!" Ricochet grunted, "Oh man, busted!" Doctor Octopus chuckled evilly, "So we meet again, Team SVRN. I'm now head of Alchemax's Shadow Division." Spider-Man joked, "Never heard of it." Doctor Octopus frowned, "Yes. That's why it's called 'Shadow Division'." Venus replied, "Touché. So what's the master plan, Patel?" Nightingale added, "The ones who hug the shadows always do have their own plans." Doctor Octopus wondered, "I could kill you four, or I could explain and then kill you." Then she drew a smirk. "I think I'll just kill you." Then Doctor Octopus threw them at a wall as she turned around, grabbed the fragment, and ordered, "Computer, this laboratory has been compromised. Initiate self-destruct sequence in ten seconds." The team got up as Ricochet said in surprise, "Ten seconds? That's barely enough time for a clever explosion-related quip!" Doctor Octopus opened an escape hatch on the floor and smirked, "That must really burn, Ricochet. So long, it's been a blast!" She jumped down as Spider-Man spun a couple webs on the doors as Team SVRN quickly ran through the escape hatch before it closed.

The laboratory suddenly exploded as Venus and Nightingale held onto their respective partners. Spider-Man and Ricochet began skydiving down as the heated destruction was after them. Several robotic arms appeared as Ricochet muttered, "Oh, crap." They dodged the obstacles while going down very fast. Spider-Man saw a floor and quickly spun webs to help cushion the fall. Team SVRN groaned as they got up to face Doctor Octopus greeting, "Welcome to the Shadow Division, Team SVRN. Tomorrow's weapons, developed today. And the heart of it all: my masterpiece!" She pointed to some kind of machine and asked, "Impressive, isn't it?" The teammates looked at each other as they responded, "Meh." Doctor Octopus demanded, "What do you mean, 'meh'?" Ricochet answered, "We've seen one of these before." Doctor Octopus retorted, "No you haven't!" Venus smiled, "We totally have!" Doctor Octopus snapped, "It's a Condensed Matter Reactor! The only one in existence!" Spider-Man asked, "Is that what it is? Ohhhhhh." Then they repeated, "Meh." Doctor Octopus held up the fragment and said, "Perhaps this will impress you!" She used her robotic arms to crawl up to the machine as she said triumphantly, "The power of a million thermonuclear reactions at my command! No Counter-Vale and soon the world will be mine! Everybody sing- everybody praise me!" The machine lifted both Doctor Octopus and her fragment lifted her up as the machine began to power up with purple energy. Then Team SVRN was blown away out to four different locations of a spheric room where the machine was housed in. The spheric room had four giant purple cables that was over where each of the teammates were separated.

"Ow," muttered Spider-Man. "Just ow."

Venus looked at the cables and asked, "What do we do, tiger?"

Nightingale surmised, "The cables have to go somewhere. We just need to find out where."

Ricochet nodded, "We cut the power and then we face Doctor Octopus."

Spider-Man looked to see where the purple cable was plugged in and saw the entrance was covered by a force field. Then his spider sense alerted him. Several lights powered up as a monstrous organic being with robotic parts showed up. 'Where'd she find time to make that?' thought Spider-Man.

The rest of his teammates were facing three of the same creature. Each of them stood ready to fight their creatures.

Spider-Man punched and kicked his creature until finally it fell and let out an purple orb that was beeping. He realized it was an explosive device and leaped away. "These monsters kinda remind me of the aliens we fought." murmured Spider-Man. The force field went away as Spider-Man leaped up to the entrance.

Venus did the same as she discovered the cable generator. Unfortunately it was being guarded by several Public Eye officers. She sped toward them with her whip twirling.

Ricochet leaped around while punching, kicking, and throwing his discs at the Public Eye officers. He went to the generator and attached a couple cables with some specially made magnetic discs.

Nightingale had already taken care of her own Public Eye officers as she attached three arrows with cables and hooks.

Spider-Man used his web-lines, Venus used her whip, Ricochet used his magnetic cabled discs, and Nightingale used her cabled arrows to attach to the generators' switched and pulled. Then the cables deactivated as Team SVRN went on their way to face Doctor Octopus.
