Chapter 48- Sins Of The Fathers Part 3

Wundagore Castle...
Lord Tyger and Sir Ram went to the High Evolutionary and Lord Tyger reported, "Your Highness, we have reports at a Machine Man facility. Spider-Man was involved." The High Evolutionary nodded, "Yes, I was notified by the central processing unit." Sir Ram noticed, "You do not seem concerned." The High Evolutionary looked back to his past.

Katherine O'Malley, still pregnant, was lying on her hospital bed as Herbert Wyndham was on a microscope analyzing something.

The High Evolutionary replied, "I am prepared for the move. This may be the opportunity to crush Team SVRN and the Rebels once and for all." Sir Ram asked, "But how?" He answered, "Long ago, an anticipation of an event such as this I left any intruders a small surprise. Place Castle security on alert." The Lord Tyger bowed and left as the High Evolutionary thought back even more.

Hugh Wyndham entered inside as he asked, "What's going on, father?" He looked at his wife as he asked, "What are you doing to Katherine?"

The High Evolutionary said, "Prepare yourselves, my Knights. We are about to reach a reckoning."

Rebel Headquarters
Spider-Man's team came and was notified of the situation. Daniel Bromley was on the computer as John ordered, "Hurry it up, Karen's depending on us!" Bromley replied, "This isn't a military assault, John! Hacking with the decryption code from X-51 is delicate surgery." The computer started beeping as Bromley exclaimed, "Blimey!" John asked, "What's wrong?" Venus Deterzo said, "Don't say you dropped the scalpel." Bromley responded, "Could be a virus. I better do a security scan." Ricochet joked, "That's the problem with computers. A couple aspirins doesn't help." Bromley hit a few keys and realized, "It's no virus. There's a flipping homing program in the download! It's been transmitting since we started!" Then they heard rumbles on the roof where Machine Men were blasting. "Take cover!" exclaimed John. Nightingale replied, "Cover is limited here." He nodded, "We better get out of here. How much data did you decipher?" Bromley answered, "I think maybe only half!" John ordered, "Bring what you've got." Bromley takes out the disc as everyone inside began to evacuate and Machine Men entered inside.

Karen O'Malley was cuffed and still trapped inside the private room where the High Evolutionary came inside to visit his long lost granddaughter. Karen scoffed, "Well, well. The High Muckety-muck himself. I guess I should be flattered." He agreed, "Indeed you should. Tell me, my dear, what do you know about your heritage?" She glared, "None of your business." The High Evolutionary asked, "Do you ever wonder how your skills run? How daring your accuracy and grace?" Karen admitted, "I've had a lot of practice on nimrods like you. What's with all the questions?" He replied, "You will learn soon enough."

The Rebels and Team SVRN were in their vehicles on their way to find Karen. Spider-Man leaped over to John and Bromley and asked, "Any luck?" Bromley replied, "Got it. A prisoner transfer at... They're keeping her in the bloody castle." Spider-Man shook his head and quipped, "Just like Karen to demand luxury outings." John radioed, "Listen up, I want an all out frontal attack on Wundagore Castle." Spider-Man commented, "Whoa, That's a bold move, John-Boy. Sure the gang is up to it?" John reminded, "We're talking about Karen, web-slinger. We maybe too late already."

Lord Tyger and Sir Ram entered the private room as the ram Bestial said, "You summoned us, your highness." The High Evolutionary nodded, "Yes. Prepare the prisoner for full Bestial enhancement." Lord Tyger looked at him with shock as Sir Ram said, "She is worse of humans. A Rebel!" The High Evolutionary replied, "I know precisely what she is." Karen growled, "No way you're gonna put a hand in any part of me!" He held her up as he asked, "And how do you propose you will stop me?" The High Evolutionary carried Karen to face her and assured, "This is for your own good, my dear. Humans and Faunus are weak. Prisoners of their own petty desires. The only cure is to make them like the noble animals." He set her down and released her cuffs as he added, "You'll thank me when this is over." She tried to back away but the High Evolutionary held onto her arm. Karen asked, "As everyone ever told you to get a life?" The High Evolutionary ordered, "Take her to the laboratory." Sir Ram grabbed her arm but then they heard loud rumbles on the roof. Lord Tyger looked out the window and notified, "The Rebels are attacking!" The High Evolutionary ordered, "Alert the rest of the Knights! I want them crushed!" Sir Ram asked, "What of the prisoner?" The High Evolutionary left as he answered, "Leave her. The force shield will keep her from escaping." The Knights followed as Karen watched helpless.

There was a big battle between the Rebels and the security at Wundagore Castle. Shots fired as several Machine Men joined in and chased after the vehicle John and Bromley were in. Spider-Man came to his team as Nightingale noted, "The colonel will be busy with the High Evolutionary's forces, so it will be up to us to rescue Karen O'Malley." Venus nodded, "Let's do it!" Spider-Man spun a web on a Machine Man's arm and swung the robot on the castle exterior making a hole. Then Team SVRN slingshot themselves with Spider-Man's webbing through the hole and into the Wundagore Castle. Eventually the rest of the Knights of Wundagore began to join in the firefight.

Three bug Bestials dressed like guards ran pass a door where Team SVRN went through. Spider-Man said, "My spider sense is going crazy!" Ricochet agreed, "Considering all the danger we'll be in when we rescue Karen." Then they started to jump off walls stealthily as Nightingale quickly went behind two guards and sank her fingers into their pressure points, making them collapse on the ground. They found the room Karen was being held in being guarded by a lizard Bestial in Knight armor. Venus wrapped her bullwhip around him and Ricochet hit the guard on the head with a disc.

Karen watched the battle and muttered, "Gotta get out there." Spider-Man joked, "Enjoying the show?" Karen smiled, "Spider-Man!" Venus asked, "The door's wide open, what's the holdup?" Karen explained, "Force shield. Attuned to my DNA." The web-slinger suggested, "Let's say we confuse 'em with a few spider molecules?" He went inside, carried Karen, and leaped back through without a scratch. Ricochet chuckled, "Now let's get outta here." The five went to run but was stopped by the High Evolutionary who said, "We meet again, Team SVRN. Let us hope this experience is a bit more pleasant than the last. For me, that is." The team stood ready as the High Evolutionary declared, "It is over. The Rebels will be crushed, and young Karen here will attain a greatness many would kill for." Karen snapped, "Suck an egg, butt brain!" The High Evolutionary lifted Team SVRN in the air and threw them on the wall. "See what your impertinence gets you?" asked the High Evolutionary dangerously. Spider-Man quipped, "Her? We're the ones with a headache!" Karen said, "Leave them alone!" The High Evolutionary asked inquisitively, "Is the four of them your weakness?" He telekinetically forced them on the wall as Karen grabbed a rifle and aimed at him. She repeated, "I said, leave them alone!" Karen fired but the High Evolutionary stopped it with his hand and pushed her away. Venus wrapped her whip around him and pulled him toward Spider-Man who punched him. The High Evolutionary crashed onto the wall as Nightingale shot several arrows on the ceiling and made the debris land on him. The High Evolutionary blew the debris off of him as he began to blast the debris at the four teammates. The four effortlessly dodged them as the High Evolutionary caught them in midair and threw on the floor. Karen jumped on his back and wrapped her arms around the High Evolutionary's throat but the man threw her on the wall. "Don't do this," begged Karen. "Let us go." The High Evolutionary's glare softened at her.

Hugh and Katherine confronted Herbert and she demanded, "She's your granddaughter! Your own flesh and blood! How could you?!" The infant Karen O'Malley only wailed in response. Hugh glared, "You experimented on her! Altered her DNA!" Then they left Herbert before he could say something.

The High Evolutionary lifted Karen up as he vowed, "I will finish what I began, my dear. But not until you are ready." Team SVRN began to get back up as the High Evolutionary glared, "You four will rue this day, as will all human and Faunus kind!" Then he turned to leave much to their confusion.

Sir Ram and Lady Vermin excessively chased after John's vehicle on their speeder bikes while blasting them. That was then when Team SVRN on their vehicle with Karen blasted Sir Ram and Lady Vermin away. John saw Karen and smiled with relief, "Karen, you're safe." He then happily radioed, "Target has been acquired. Everybody fall back!" All the Rebels got the message as everyone went into retreat.

The Rebels and Team SVRN regrouped as Bromley asked, "So what do we do for headquarters, gov?" Spider-Man suggested, "There was this abandoned amusement park X-51 and I saw. Of course the rides need some tinkering." John smiled as he radioed, "Change course for the carnival." Karen was on a cliff thinking to herself while looking at her family picture. Bromley and Nightingale came over to her as Bromley asked, "What's up? You've been quiet since we left the castle." Karen answered, "Just remembering Brom. Just remembering." Nightingale looked at the photo and complimented, "That is a nice family portrait." Karen smiled, "Thank you, Nightingale."
