Chapter 41- Matters Of The Heart Part 2

Later; The Basement
Team SVRN were at an alleyway as they getting ready to test Spider-Man's sonics. Venus Deterzo set up glass bottles on several wooden boxes and gave her boyfriend the thumbs up. "Sonics on," said Spider-Man. His sonics activated as it shattered the glass bottles. Venus clapped happily as Nightingale asked, "Why do you need to test your sonics? They work just fine." Spider-Man answered, "Yeah, but I needed to make sure they still work after our encounter with Spider-Carnage." Ricochet nodded, "Wherever he is." Then they noticed fireworks as Venus remembered, "Oh, man! The street carnival! I completely forgot! We gotta go!"

Shortly, at the street carnival...
Team SVRN were in their civvies, enjoying themselves at the street carnival. Peter took pictures of them having fun. Venus was currently eating her cotton candy while Johnny won Nightingale several stuffed animals. Nightingale smiled as she reminded, "Peter, we are certain that the Mr. Meugniot will not appreciate photos of us for Daily Byte." Venus pouted, "Spoilsport." Everyone laughed as they continued on to the carnival. Later, several Public Eye officers were walking pass the humans and Faunus causing some angry shouting.

On the rooftops, rogue symbiotes Riot and Phage were carrying supplies on their backs as Phage took notice of the angry shouting. "Looks like trouble brewing," said Phage. "We could join in." Riot reminded, "We have business of our own. Once we establish our surprise for this town, it'll make this look like a sunny day." Phage nonetheless agrees as he follows his brother.

Suddenly both sides started to fight each other as Peter, Venus, Johnny, and Nightingale took notice. "So much for family hour," muttered Johnny. Peter nodded, "Looks like we're gonna have to break this up before it gets too rough." Everyone agreed as they went to change into their superhero identities. A male bull Bestial took out a gun and pointed it at a group of humans. A disc flew toward the gun and sliced it in half. "Hey, can I call a referee?" quipped Spider-Man. "Cause that was an unfair advantage!" Then Team SVRN appeared as the bull Bestial snapped, "Scram you jerks!" He charged at Spider-Man who caught him by the horns as Venus coiled her whip around horns and yanked him on top of three Public Eye officers. It was then when the team saw a cuffed Daniel Bromley next to a couple officers. Spider-Man ordered, "Venus, get Bromley outta here! Everyone else retreat." Venus nodded as she made blinding light copies of herself which made the officers disoriented. She grabbed Bromley and dashed away with her super speed as her fellow teammates followed.

Team SVRN and Bromley made it to an abandoned subway station as Spider-Man asked, "This is your new headquarters? Guess up isn't much of an improvement." Bromley replied, "My mum used to say, 'Home is what you make of it, Danny Boy'." Ricochet chuckled, "Hope you inherited a sense of humor." Venus asked, "Where is everybody by the way?" Then Spider-Man and Ricochet's senses went off as a metal wall blocked the rails. More walls formed as the team and Bromley were trapped. Then a door opened and two Machine Men entered inside. "Either X-51 cloned themselves or they're the real McCoy," said Spider-Man. He jumped on the wall but got shocked. Spider-Man began to slowly get up as Nightingale shot two mystical arrows at the Machine Man as Ricochet somersaulted and kicked the robot on the wall. Venus coiled her whip around the second Machine Man's head and threw it on the wall as well. The robots got electrocuted as Spider-Man said, "Now let's go before more robots come." Then the four got shot with a stun ray by Bromley who apologized, "Sorry chaps, nothing personal."

Spider-Man woke up to see Lady Ursula smirked, "The Spider and his team are awake." Team SVRN found themselves strapped onto a table surrounded by Lady Ursula, two Wundagore squires, and Bromley. "This has got to be a nightmare," said Nightingale worriedly. Sir Ram replied, "I assure you we won't disappoint. How do you like my trap? I built it just for you four. Fortunately the Rebels provided us bait sooner than I anticipated." Ricochet glared, "Bromley? You set us up?" He didn't answer as Venus hissed, "Why are you with these guys?!" A computer screen opened up as the High Evolutionary appeared and spoke, "Ah, Sir Ram. Lady Ursula." The two Knights bowed down as they said, "Your highness." The High Evolutionary said, "Durations are in order, my Knights. And you, Mr. Bromley, earned both my gratitude and your reward for proving my low opinions on humans." Bromley hung his head and the High Evolutionary continued, "Now If you'll transport the prisoners to my door, I'll resume the experiments I've started for Mr. Bromley's former friends for Spider-Man and his team away." Spider-Man shouted, "Bromley, you sold out? Why?! What did they give you?! Answer me!" Lady Ursula said, "Silence! Transport Team SVRN away." Sir Ram asked, "Are you forgetting our agreement, Ursula? The creator will get his prisoners after I have put in a few behavioral modifications." He opens up a door and showed a lab. Spider-Man quipped, "This place is full of surprises." Sir Ram chuckled, "Oh, much more to come, Spider-Man. Once we're done here, you'll be a puppet under my control." The web-slinger gritted, "Why not just put me on the payroll like Bromley? I'd accomplish the same thing." Sir Ram smirked, "Put him inside."

Venus, Ricochet, and Nightingale were tied to their knees as Spider-Man was trapped on the table. Sir Ram walked over to him and smiled deviously, "Consider this an honor, Spider-Man. You're about to become my secret weapon." An orb floated to him as the web-slinger asked nervously, "Couldn't I just sign a pledge?" That made Sir Ram chuckle and replied, "I know how weak you humans and Faunus are. So if you feel any pain, feel free to express yourself." Venus screamed, "Stay away from him!" Spider-Man replied, "The only words I have is for Bromley and he already knows what they are!" The Knight huffed, "It will be a pleasure to silence you once and for all." The orb started to shock Spider-Man with purple lightning as he screamed in pain. Nightingale could feel it, too, as it was too much for her to bear. Bromley suddenly threw a flask filled with liquid which fogged the lab as he blasted the orb. Venus vibrates herself melt off her bonds and freed her two teammates in a flash. Bromley got Spider-Man off the table as both him and Team SVRN ran off while both Knights coughed. They ran out after them.
