Chapter 15- I Really, Really Hate Clones

Spider-Man struggled in Spider-Carnage's grip. "If it isn't you," laughed Spider-Carnage. "My dear clone. How I've longed to see you, and in my costume no less! Oh, how I despise you and for that you must be obliterated! You see, I really, REALLY, hate clones!" Then Spider-Carnage threw his double on the wall as Spider-Man thought in realization, 'It's the Carnage symbiote, but it has my costume. My voice!' He shot darts at Spider-Carnage who shielded it and shot red thorns with black pointed ends. Spider-Man dodged them as Spider-Carnage laughed manically and stretched his fingers to entangle his counterpart.

Karen O'Malley saw that Venom II flowed in front of her. She threw a knife at the symbiote who dodged it and snickered. "Hungry, mate?" asked Bromley as he threw a bomb inside of Venom II's mouth and it blew up in the stomach. Venom II reformed herself as she towered over Karen and Bromley. John Jameson shot Venom II straight through the back but it had no effect. Venom II walked over to John while he continued to blast at her.

Spider-Carnage proclaimed, "Soon I will be the only one!" Spider-Man exclaimed, "Sonics on!" The sonics on Spider-Man's suit instantly activated as every symbiote in the headquarters went into pain. Soon Spider-Carnage, Venom II, Agony, Lasher, Riot, and Phage retreated away into a sewer pipe. The symbiote-infected Bestials went into faint as Spider-Man said, "Sonics off." The sonics deactivated as John ordered, "Get them into the cage! Hurry! There's no telling how long they'll be unconscious." Acting quickly, the Rebels dragged the Bestials into the cage.

Later, John went over to Team SVRN and Scarlet Spider. He said, "Thanks for the help. We couldn't have done it without you." Karen admired, "It's amazing. We had never beaten the High Evolutionary's forces that easily before." Spider-Man replied, "You think that was easy?" Scarlet Spider agreed, "If we didn't assume we led the symbiotes here, you'd be scarcely driving them away." Ricochet asked, "Okay, who are you?" Scarlet Spider replied, "I'll tell you later." Karen agreed, "It's true and they didn't have time to tag you four." Nightingale asked, "Tag us?" John changed the subject and said, "We've got more important things to worry about." Venus asked, "What's the plan?" John answered, "We get rid of them." He pointed his gun at the imprisoned Bestials as Spider-Man disagreed, "Whoa, John-Boy. Aren't we overreacting just a teensy bit here? You can't just kill them." John said nonchalantly, "Watch me." Nightingale reminded, "Some of them are innocents! The symbiotes were using them." John retorted, "They're Bestials! That's reason enough!" Bromley agreed, "He's right, mate. The things they've done to us humans." Spider-Man said, "That's not the issue. If you cold-bloodedly kill them, you're no better than you claim they are." John reminded, "They know our location. If we let them go, this base will be compromised." Nightingale debated, "It is already compromised, Johnathon. Lady Vermin escaped, do you not remember?" Venus nodded, "The symbiotes got away, too. Unless you think they can keep a secret, it's time to clear out of here anyways." John set his gun down and agreed, "All right, you win." Bromley angrily asked, "Are you bloomin' crazy!? We can't just let 'em go!" John said, "We can and we will. Team SVRN's right. I won't shed blood needlessly. Even if it is Bestial blood." Bromley points his gun at the trapped Bestials and declared, "Then I'll do it!" John ordered, "No. It's time we moved on anyway." Bromley reluctantly agreed as he stormed away. Spider-Man noted, "I think you guys ought to keep an eye on Old Bromley. Just a hunch, but when you got someone wound that tight who wears a coat full of explosives..." Karen replied, "If you knew what the High Evolutionary had done to his family you'd understand. And maybe even condone it." Nightingale agreed, "Karen does share a point, Spider-Man."

After Team SVRN and the Scarlet Spider finished helping the Rebels pack away their things and helped the trapped Bestials go away free, the team and Scarlet Spider went back where they last picked off high above a building. Spider-Man asked, "Who are you? Really?" Scarlet Spider unmasked himself and answered, "I'm your clone, Peter. Just like that Spider-Carnage you faced." Venus stared at the older clone of her boyfriend with blonde hair and remarked, "Wow. You have an older brother." Then Madame Web showed up and smiled, "I'm glad to see everyone has been acquainted." Ricochet asked, "What's going on?" Madame Web answered, "The threat I have told you about involves your clone, Peter. The one bonded to the Carnage symbiote." Spider-Man said in shock, "So I was cloned. At least I have that in common with Venus." In response Venus punched his arm. Nightingale asked, "So how is Spider-Carnage a threat?" Madame Web responded, "He wishes to bring about the destruction to the world. He must be stopped." Ricochet asked, "How are we going to find him if we don't know where he and the other symbiotes went to?" Madame Web answered, "Spider-Carnage will come back. So be warned." She disappeared as Scarlet Spider put his mask back on. John Jameson and Karen O'Malley went over to them. John said, "There is something I need to tell you." Karen spoke, "The last of the Rebels managed to go out safely, but when we find a new headquarters we'll contact them." John added, "We've gone through a great setback, but if you fight with us then it won't be in vain." Karen nodded, "You four maybe the only untagged in the city." Nightingale asked, "Untagged? What does this mean?" Karen explained, "Every human and Faunus is tagged with a sub dural chip that allows the High Evolutionary's lackeys keep track of us." John admitted, "Even we have them. Though we use jamming devices that work. Most of the time." Karen said, "But they didn't tag you four. You could be the pivotal pieces in this war. Will you help us?" Spider-Man turned to his team and asked, "What do guys think we should do?" Nightingale suggested, "We could join in their fight. We would stop both the High Evolutionary's hold and Spider-Carnage's threat." Ricochet nodded in agreement. Spider-Man asked, "What about you, Venus?" The Chimera cat Faunus looked to one side and admitted, "I want to help, but our engagement... I want to find a place to live with you here... See what we're fighting for here..." Karen smiled as she handed Spider-Man a bag of clothes and lien. "Here," said Karen gently. "I thought you might feel this way, so I hope this will help and Venus do just that." Venus takes the bag and Karen added, "After you do, you'll join us in our fight when we need you to. There's also a number to call us at anytime on your jacket's helm." Venus wrapped herself around Spider-Man as he saluted his other two teammates. Ricochet and Nightingale did as well. Then Spider-Man and Venus went swinging away. "Keep in touch!" called John.
