CHAPTER 11

"You know that I like you right? Way before that girl did." Rae scoffed, rolling her eyes. "She has a name, it's Kim Minji. My girlfriend." Jihoon snapped. "Don't try to act so tough on me now Jihoon or else I won't help." She laughed.

"What exactly do you need?" Now it was his turn to roll his eyes, "Simple." Rae wickedly smiled as she tilted her head and whispered something in his ear.

His eyes widened and shook his head, "No."

She didn't budge, "I guess you don't need my help then." Rae simply shrugged, letting go of the boy's hands and stepping back a little, "I'm giving you until tomorrow to decide, if you don't then good luck. See you around Jihoon." And with that, she left him there.

Does he really think he can pay those bills without my help? Rae thought to herself, rolling her eyes after exiting the building.

Jihoon sighed, he ran his fingers through his hair and started his walk towards the counter again, to make his payment, he money he has earned for this week.

The boy finished dropping in a payment but he still had a problem with getting the special medication for his father's swollen leg.

It made him think.

"Where's Rae?" His mother asked as he returned, "She was the girl who likes me . . turns out she wants something in return, something I don't want to say yes to but-"

"That girl." His mother shook her head in disbelief, "Why don't you just get help from Minji?" She continued, now it was his turn to shake his head.

"I can't . ." He looked at her making eye contact, his mother immediately saw that glint in his eyes, it was all too familiar. "Don't you dare." She shook her head.

"But, I just want the best for Dad." Jihoon sighed. His mother knew he wanted to accept that offer Rae gave. "You said you didn't want to-"

"I'd do anything for Dad." He stared at the ground, "I don't know, think about it. That 'something in return' better not ruin your relationship with Minji." His mother sighed.

"But I still haven't bought Dad's medicine for his leg! He needs it as soon as possible!" Jihoon ran his fingers through his hair, she could tell that he was desperate.

To save my relationship with Minji or to save my Dad?

As Jihoon and his mother went home, he couldn't stop thinking about the offer Rae gave. He wanted to accept it yet it was risky, all he wanted was a better condition for his father.

The boy stared at the ceiling, still thinking about what happened at the hospital earlier.

Sometimes you have to risk things.

"How was yesterday?" Minji turned to Jihoon, he somewhat looks more stressed than before. "Turns out Dad's injured leg swelled up caused by internal bleeding and he needs a special medicine that the doctor prescribed but I need to buy it." He sighed, rubbing his temples.

It wasn't just that Jihoon was stressed about, he was debating whether to accept Rae's offer or decline it.

"I'm sorry . . Are you sure you don't need my help?" Minji held his hand, giving it a squeeze. "It's fine . . Rae has also dropped in a payment as well and I did too." He lied, Jihoon didn't want Minji knowing about what she wanted.

"That's good." She nodded her head.

The two were currently walking to their Biology class, the rest of their friends already left to go to their own classes

Minji was about to open a new topic but someone had stopped her from doing so by bumping in to her but before she could fall, the person wrapped their arms around her to stop her from falling.

That familiar scent invaded her senses as her face met a boy's chest. "Minji! Are you okay?" She could hear Jihoon's voice.

Minji pulled apart from the boy's touch and looked up, her eyes widened.

Daniel.

She quickly looked over to Jihoon who was glaring at the boy, "I-i'm okay, Jihoon. No need to worry." Minji made his way to him and held his hand once again. "Minji, I'm so sorry. I didn't meant to-" "It's fine. Jihoon let's go." She cut him off, dragging her boyfriend with her.

"Next time watch where you go." Jihoon said before turning his back to Daniel.

Daniel frowned as he watched the two walk away, hand-in-hand. He didn't mean to bump in to Minji, he just really needed to go to the toilet.

"Why are we here?" Minji asked.

The two were at the rooftop, their Bio class just finished meaning it was time for break. "Nothing, just wanted to have some peace and quiet time with you." He softly smiled at her.

Minji chuckled, walking towards the railing of the rooftop and observing the busy street from above. "True . . I feel like for the past few days . . everyone's been so stressed." She sighed.

Jihoon stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder. "Mhm . . That's why I took you here." He whispered in her ear, sending chills down her spine.

"You too, you've been stressed as well. Take a break." Minji faced him, Jihoon placed both his hands on the railing, "All I need is you then I'll be fine." He smiled.

But that precious smile he had fell after he remembered Rae's offer. "What's wrong, Bub?" Minji asked, tilting her head.

Jihoon shook his head, avoiding her eyes. "Nothing . ." It was painful enough to lie right infront of her face but he had to.

Minji didn't believe his lie, "C'mon, tell me. Something is bothering you. Is it because of your Dad's condition?" She asked.

The boy looked up, cupping her cheeks. "Do you trust me?" He breathed out. Minji stared at his eyes, and slowly nodded. "O-of course I do. I trust you." She replied.

He smiled and gave her a light peck on her lips.

After all, it might be the last time he's ever going to taste her sweet lips.
