CHAPTER 4

Nari awkwardly cleared her throat as the two were left again. She had noticed lately that the air around them was beginning to be awkward, it wasn't the usual comfortable one.

"T-the food is nice today . . heh," Jinyoung spoke up, trying to lighten the ⏤somewhat tensed⏤ mood around them, "Sure is." Nari awkwardly nodded and looked around the Cafeteria, trying to busy herself.

Where the heck are these people?! She thought to herself as she didn't know what to do next after looking around the Cafeteria.

"What's taking them so long . . " Nari muttered to herself, "Yeah." Jinyoung replied, eyeing his food.

Do it, Jinyoung. Talk to her about it.

"Are your parents strict?" He blurted out but soon regretted asking as he remembered that the girl no longer lives with her parents.

Instead with a loving brother.

"R-right, I forgot you lived with your older brother." Jinyoung mentally faced palmed, Why am I getting so nervous? This is not you! Nari laughed it off, she found his stuttering quite cute.

The only thing she had in mind right now was on how to increase their friendship in to something much more but she doesn't know how to.

Nari isn't the passive type where she would allow things to happen whenever unlike Minji who was quite more on that side ⏤who likes it better when boys confess first⏤ but Nari is the type of person who would gladly make the first move towards the person she likes.

She doesn't care if her feelings get hurt, all she wants to get across is that she wants that person to know that she, Im Nari has feelings for that certain someone.

It's a win-or-lose situation but of course life isn't fun if you're not taking risks yourself.

Although sometimes shyness really hits her hard and those days are usually her unexpected days where everything just goes wrong for her.

"You seem a bit dazed there." Jinyoung's soft voice bringing her back to reality, "Huh? Oh, nothing. Just thinking about things . . . " She shrugged it off, her clear yet calming voice a great contrast with his deep yet soft one.

"Hey guys!" Jihoon came back with his and Minji's belongings, he didn't even know why he brought his girlfriend's bag. "Where'd you go? Where's Minji?" Nari almost jumped in joy, Jihoon you lifesaver!

He chuckled at her, "It's nothing." Jihoon wanted to keep this secret between the three of them first ⏤although his girlfriend and Daehwi doesn't know that he eavesdropped on their convo⏤ he figured it was kind of personal to tell people without Daehwi's consent.

Plus he didn't have the right to do so anyway.

Heck, he shouldn't have been listening in the first place but he was just a concerned boyfriend. That was just his intention.

Nothing else.

Nari did an awkward nod before staring lifelessly at her half eaten meal again, Jihoon sighed to himself and shifted his attention to Jinyoung who was obviously side-glancing the girl.

"I'll just borrow him for a while." Jihoon smiled at Nari before dragging the boy out of the Cafeteria. "What's wrong?" Jinyoung bluntly asked, tilting his head to the side.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" He shifted his weight on the other foot and tapped the other one repeatedly against the floor. "What?" Jinyoung asked, not knowing where this is all going.

"Oh my- Nari and You! Together." Jihoon explained dramatically, adding in some hand gestures.

"Oh, I don't know. I just feel like now isn't the right time, y'know?" The boy shrugged, his bottom lip jutted out. Jihoon slowly nodded, understanding his friend.

He didn't want to force Jinyoung in to something he isn't ready for, he didn't want anything to go wrong ⏤just like what happened to Daniel⏤ so he respected his decision

"What do you mean left behind?" Minji worriedly asked, finding answers that could hopefully answer her questions in his eyes. Daehwi shook his head and bitterly smiled once again.

It pained her. Alot.

"I'm your bestfriend Daehwi, you can tell me every single thing that bothers you. Please, you're worrying me." Instead of her sentence coming out as a comfort, it came out as a beg instead. A mix of worry and sadness in her tone.

He didn't like seeing his bestfriend act this way but he wanted to be able to let out his feelings even just once, ⏤as selfish as it sounds⏤ all he wants is something better for their friendship.

"Well sorry for being such a bothersome." He dryly chuckled, stubborness slowly creeping up on him. "Lee Daehwi! I'm not having any of this bullshit, tell me what's wrong. I'm the one already making effort." She truly wasn't having any of his stubborness.

Daehwi is a great person but under all the pure nice personality, he also has a stubborn heart which only comes when he's really upset about something.

"Oh, we're talking about effort now. How ironic of you." The boy rolled his eyes causing Minji to inhale sharply, "You know what? Talk to me when you've got your mind sorted out. This is clearly not working." She calmly whispered, the anger being buried within.

Before she could step back in the building, he had said something that truly shocked her.

"That's what you always do anyway, leave me behind. Just go run to Jihoon." She could feel his intense stare at the back of her head and last but not the least the venom in his words.

It pained her, it truly did. She didn't know what has got in to her bestfriend but yelling back at him sure wouldn't solve anything so she let him be.

She let his stubborn heart and words get to her. After all, he was her bestfriend and she was his.

Minji shook her head and continued jogging down the flight of stairs, she decided to keep this a secret as their friends didn't need to get involved in this mess.

She didn't want them choosing which person to side, especially Jihoon as he's very close to the both of them.
