"Whaaat?! Minji definitely deserves it!" Nari groaned, Daehwi agreed, huffing. "It's okay it's not like I wanted to be prom queen anyway." Minji shrugged. Honestly, she was okay about it. As long as she got to attend prom with her friends, that was all she wished for.
It's been seconds after the DJ called Rae's name but no one came up the front. "Rae? Is she still here with us?" He spoke through the mic, looking around the crowd.
Rae's friends tried contacting her but she wasn't picking up their calls. "Damn, where did that girl go?" Woojin chuckled, looking around for a sign of Rae.
"We can't not have a prom Queen so I'll call on the second most voted girl." The DJ said, fiddling with the piece of paper in between his hands.
"Kim Minji."
No way.
"Oh my goodness Minji! You're the prom Queen!" Daehwi shook her by the shoulders, startling the girl. "What? Me?" Minji pointed to herself, wide-eyed. Everything came crashing down upon her, other students in the room focused their attention on her.
Smiling at her.
Nari pushed the girl up the front. Minji stuttered a bit but maintained her balance in no time, she slowly walked towards where Jihoon was as instructed by the DJ.
Jihoon had a soft smile plastered upon his lips, holding his eye contact with her. Minji's heart raced faster as she got closer to the boy, both were crowned with little metallic gold crowns on top of their head and were also given a white sash that had their entitlement for the night.
"As you all know, the King and Queen of the night needs to have their own solo dance." The DJ chuckled. His announcement caused her to be even more nervous.
A slow song started playing through the speakers, Jihoon turned to Minji with a smile full of affection. He grabbed both her arms and wrapped them around his neck whilst wrapping his arms around her waist.
She couldn't believe what was happening. Minji got so lost in his eyes that she couldn't even see her friends widely smiling on the corner of her eyes, she couldn't hear the music, the teasing and the whistling. Everything was blocked out except for the boy infront of her.
His sparkly eyes luring her in even more.
"I knew you'd like it." Jihoon breathed out, his soft angelic voice slowly bringing her back to reality. It left her mind spinning a little.
"W⏤what? . ." Minji softly asked.
He chuckled, it sounded like music to her ears. "The necklace . . I bought it especially for this day." He smiled. What? Minji thought. "But . . Woojin gave it to me?⏤"
