ANALISES POV
“Do you know how many girls in this cafeteria are wishing they were you right now?” Steph asked me while acting like a few of the MAGCON obsessed girls sitting around us.
Yeah, I don’t know about you, but people don’t necessarily ‘wish for’ leukemia I think to myself.
“YOUR BROTHER IS NASH GRIER?! OMG TELL HIM THAT I LOVE HIM, AND HE’S SO HOT AND FAMOUS AND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!” She continued, making me laugh as usual.
That was the good thing about Steph. Not only could she make me laugh in any circumstance, but she saw my brother and the MAGCON guys, for who they really are; basically just a bunch of guys who happened to gain a bunch of popularity over their seven second videos. Not really a big deal to both of us.
That’s why we’ve been best friends since the eighth grade, when she moved down here to North Carolina from Georgia – because she wanted to be friends with me. Even after my brother became well known, she’s been my only real friend. Everyone else only wants me for my brother now. Not because I'm Analise, but I'm Analise Grier…
“They’re not ‘famous-famous’, and yeah, we’re heading over to Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, then finishing up in New York. By then it’ll be close to Christmas” I inform her.
“Sounds cool. You gonna spend the New York Winter ice skating and kissing in the snow with a scrumptious MAGCON boy?” She asks, humorously wiggling her eyebrows.
“So funny that I actually forgot to laugh...” I reply sarcastically, earning me a playful punch in the arm, and making me the clumsy mess, spill my cup of jelly.
“Crap! Sorry Lise” She apologised, a smile still on her face while trying to wipe it off with a napkin.
“It’s okay I can clean myself!” I laugh as she was scrubbing my thigh with a napkin to rid it off a jelly mark. Gives off a pretty strange view to the entire cafeteria if I do say so myself.
RIINNGG! RIINNGG! RIINNGG!
“I’ll meet up with you in biology; I’m just going to the bathroom to clean up.” I quickly say.
"Alright but your gonna be late!" She sang while I ran off.
I lightly dab at the light Jell-O mark with a wad of wet tissue paper until it’s gone, disposing it by not tossing it in the bin, but throwing it up at the bathroom ceiling, being the cool little rebel I am.
I start to fix my hair, but as soon as I lift my ponytail, I see it. A large, deep blue and purple bruise, forming along the side of my neck. Great… bruising, one of the common symptoms of leukemia. While I work on putting layer upon layer of concealer to hide it, the door swings open and Hayes walks in.
“Ana… What the hell are you in here?!” He questions, clearly surprised.
“I’d ask you the same thing.”
“Why? - I’m just fixing my makeup.” I question, continuing to pretend to touch up my face rather than my marked neck.
“So your fixing your makeup… in the guy’s bathroom?” He asks humorously.
I turn around and sure enough, notice the line of urinals along the wall. Oh god, I really was in the boy’s bathroom. How could I be so stupid? No wonder there were no other girls gossiping or crying in here, like usually.
“Shit! Um yeah, I’ll just uh, I got this… class to get to!” I stammer and quickly rush past my younger brother. I guess I just gave him a story to blab about for a while. Great!
